Dual Pizza Oven cooks two pies in 90 seconds

February 15th, 2008 by Chris in Kitchen Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Dual Pizza Oven

I love pizza. Typing out those words just don’t seem to do justice for the way I feel about that particular food. I’ll eat pizza about as often as I can get away with, which can be pretty pricey. I try to balance things out by buying frozen pizzas or making my own. My family has a perfect pizza recipe that we’ve worked on for years (we’re all pizza lovers) and we love to make it to share with others. That’s why this Dual Pizza Oven caught my eye. This thing cooks pizzas faster than it takes me to even start prepping another batch.

Pot Tickers - Timers for every pan

February 9th, 2008 by Al in Kitchen Gadgets

Pot Tickers

This is a simple but cool idea, Pot Tickers, a tiny timer that slots onto pan handles.

Pot-Tickers are a cooking timing dealy my Mom actually came up with because she would burn what she was cooking. A lot. They are handle holders which go on the skillet handle, potholders, and aprons all with digital timers attached. They solve the problem for those who don’t have any free disk space in the ol’ brain.p.u. and allow them to time everything they’re cooking (multiple items) at once and know exactly what’s done and when!

You can get further info and buy Pot Tickers from $8 over at Pot-Tickers.com.

Tau Ceramica Diet Floor

February 6th, 2008 by Mark R in Office Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Diet Floor

I’m not certain who would want a floor that would talk to them, but a Spanish ceramics company known as Tau Ceramica has created one.

Inventor Pep Torres has created the Diet Floor, specific ceramic tiles that are weight sensitive and have a CPU for different parameters. These two features work together with the speakers in order to tell loiterers what’s up.

For example, if you put them by the refrigerator, it will detect someone standing in front of it and will say a few choice phrases like “Keep your diet in mind before you snack”, or something. I have no idea if those voice files come with the Diet Floor, or are programmed by the user, and I’m not certain which would have more of an effect on the hearer.

The Diet Floor can also be programmed for a different type of environment, such as the office. For example, it can detect whether employees are spending far too much time in front of the watercooler. It will then respond with something like: “Hey, the company is not paying you to stand around”.

Movers & Shakers of the dining table variety

February 5th, 2008 by Edwin in Kitchen Gadgets, Home Gadgets

moversshakers.jpg

Despite having different number of holes (in different sizes, to boot!), many people still can’t tell the difference between a salt shaker and the other that carries pepper inside. The Movers & Shakers (how aptly named) home improvement item will definitely put a smile on anybody’s face once they see it in action - all you need to do is pull the cords on them and they’ll automatically shake themselves over your food, leaving you with a better seasoned dish for you to tuck in.

R2-D2 Peppermill Helps You In The Kitchen

February 3rd, 2008 by Carolyn in Cooking Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets, Home Gadgets

sw_r2d2_peppermill.jpgYou all know a Star Wars fan in your life. More so, these Star Wars fans enjoy collecting items and gadgets that go along with that fandom. What could you ever pick up for a Star Wars fan that they don’t have already?

Well, over at Think Geek you can pick up an officially licensed Star Wars R2-D2 Peppermill. Cooking used to be a boring Star Wars fan until little R2 showed up on the scene to provide freshly ground pepper to liven up any meal. All you need to do is twist the R2’s head around to produce that freshly ground pepper goodness. Computer hacking and beeping and booping not included.

For such a specialized droid, the $19.99 sale price makes this piece of equipment a bargain that even a Jawa with stolen droids can’t beat. Read the rest of this entry »

Fun and Kid Friendly gadgets by Fred

ToDo Tatoo

I remember when I was in Jr. High. My PE teacher needed me to take something to the office. He didn’t have a hall pass handy, so he wrote it on the palm of my hand. How many of us have written down brief notes on our hands so as not to forget them? Now there’s a clever To-Do Tatoo which puts a to-do list where you’ll never lose it.

Handpresso: For Coffee Lovers On The Go

January 11th, 2008 by Carolyn in Eco Gadgets, Cooking Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets, Home Gadgets

handpresso.jpgYou know you’ve been there. You’ve been traveling and all you want is a nice hot espresso. You head to a national chain coffee shop (rhymes with Car Ducks) to get your fix. But wait! They burn the crap out of it! Now your espresso fix is ruined. Or what if you’re miles and miles away from any civilized place with an espresso machine - what do you do then?

The Handpresso is an innovative gadget that allows you (with the purchase of their specialized coffee pods) to brew a nice cup of espresso with just hot water! The description from the website:

Handpresso Wild is at the core of the NOMADIC ESPRESSO. Simple, light, elegant and compact, it works without electricity. It has all the basic qualities to make a premium quality coffee anywhere.

Handpresso Wild prepares a tasty espresso of outstanding quality (according to the manufacturer) obtained by a high-pressure extraction, a patented Handpresso system. The coffee is listed as “a fine and smooth crema, subtle aromas, a structured body, a lengthy finish: a ‘vintage’ coffee!” How do you brew such tasty cup of espresso? Just pump the machine to 16 bar (of pressure, I’m assuming), add hot water from a kettle or a thermo insulated bottle and an Easy Serving Espresso (E.S.E.) pod. Then, serve the espresso in the cup of your choice by pushing the button. Read the rest of this entry »

Iwavecube Personal Microwave for Tiny, Tiny Food

January 10th, 2008 by Carolyn in Cooking Gadgets, Office Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

102591262d.jpgYou know you’ve done it - you’ve been sitting at your desk and your coffee is cold. Or you think “wow…I would love to heat up my lunch but I know there’s a line for the microwave in the kitchen”. You wish you had your own microwave. What if you had your own a personal, portable microwave? Forget all those trips to the kitchen or treks to the cafeteria — now you can reheat coffee right at your desk or nuke some soup for your brown-bag lunch.

The innovative Iwavecube personal microwave has all the electronic controls and safety features you expect, but it takes up less than a cubic foot of space. Plug it in anyplace that’s handy — work or home office; home gym; family room; nursery; wet bar; dorm room; work bench; pool house.everywhere! The quiet, super-energy-efficient iwavecube measures just 10″ x 10.5″ x 12″ and weighs only 12 lbs. Features a built-in carry handle and view-through door. Plugs into standard outlet.

My only problem is that there’s no way in hell this microwave will heat up a Lean Cuisine meal or anything larger than a Hot Pocket. I’m not sure I want to spend $129.95 on a coffee warmer. But if having a tiny, tiny microwave is something you’ve always dreamed of, then you can pick one up over at the Sky Mall.
