So, just because you live in that swanky apartment right smack in the middle of town, you think you’re cool right? Apparently, having boatloads of money does not automatically translate to being the best, as artistic flair and taste are things that even Bill Gates cannot buy. Just take a look around your pad and see if it is actually done up tastefully, or did you just tack on tons of different decorative items without giving second thought to an overall theme? Thankfully, there are some household decorative items that will definitely go along with the flow, and the Cereal Bowl Light is one of them.

December 10th, 2006 by Dan in Kitchen Gadgets
According to the definition of the official site “Electrolux Design Lab is an annual design competition that is open for students from around the world to use their creativity to develop solutions that meet the needs of tomorrow’s consumers. It is also an opportunity for the students to exchange ideas and discover new possibilities with Electrolux designers.”
Below you will find the first four places of this year’s competition:
1) Nevale: a food carrier that uses a vacuum system to isolate the interior. Additionally the carrier was created in layers so that different combinations of food, either hot or cold, can be stored together. The project was developed by a student at the Istanbul Technical University. Read the rest of this entry »
Ye` Be a Fishmonger? If so, here’s your Crustastun!!!
December 4th, 2006 by Fred in Kitchen Gadgets, Miscellaneous GadgetsSure you have to kill krill and other shellfish all the live-long day.
But are you making the best use of your time in the most humane way possible?
If not here’s a new product just for you!
With 110 Volts and 2 to 5 amps depending on the animal (that’s 550 Watts of power people! Quick additional math leads us to this fact, That’s .73 horsepower of death! Ahahahahhaha!!!!!)

Ok, so maybe I’m getting a bit carried away.
Stop screaming, would you rather we just boil them alive as we’ve done for thousands of years?! What kind of heartless soul are you?!
Are you the kind of person that prefers straight butter, or do you prefer a sweet salted butter with garlic? These are very important questions, and only the use of the Crustastun can you answer them!
In New Zealand there are actual rules that animals are to be killed humanely for consumption, and these are linked to right there on the manufacturer’s site (apologies to you vegans who regard shellfish as higher beings).
There are actual benefits of this little death machine (in terms of savory-ness and deliciousnesses, and the science
to back it up!) Apparently by reducing the stress of the animal at death it “decreases osmotic dilution” which to me sounds like, the meat stays firm and wonderful! Read the rest of this entry »
Brownies!! I want the corner!!! Oh,, really? All corners?!
December 1st, 2006 by Fred in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets
Yep, all corners!! That’s the wonderful promise of this new pan from The Baker’s Edge. Conveniently enough, it’s called the Baker’s Edge and it’s just what the Doctor ordered!
Well that is, if the Doctor is doctor Stay Puft, Pom-Pom or his cousin Bibendum!
They know you love to eat the corner of the brownie pan. Now you can make sure that’s all you have.
Granted, you’ve got a sweet tooth, and as the holidays grow, and your waistline gradually reaches that of the Airship Akron, (likely with small planes flying around you).
That said, there are any number of amazing snacks where the power of the corner can truly shine, and this pan would do the trick. From chilled desserts (think a properly adulterated gelatin dessert, removed as some sort of “squiggly thing” (I’ll let you take that where you want)), to hot cheese based dishes. We all love cheese once it’s crusted and burnt just lightly, that happens on the edges, so what could be better than more edges?!!!! MMMmmmm, I have an au-grautin potato recipe that’s making my mouth water (ok, it’s mostly cheese, but I swear there are potatoes in there!)
Breakfast Art Image Toaster
November 29th, 2006 by Mike in Kitchen Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets
Toaster manufactures just keep on innovating, you’ve noticed it too, right? With that the roll your own toast, you’d think toasters were actually high tech. Here’s one more to add to the aspiring toastmaster’s collection, the Breakfast-Art Image Toaster.

Roll your own Toast, designer style. A new award winning toaster design that Rocks!
November 29th, 2006 by Fred in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets, Miscellaneous GadgetsNormally, I hate concepts. Either things are research, or they are in production, don’t taunt me with things that aren’t real, or aren’t going to be real, real soon!
![]()
This concept is definitely on it’s way to reality though, so I guess I’m ok. It’s for a well, “Rollertoaster” This is one of the smartest things to happen to toast since the “Sliced Bread Incident” so many years ago (and look how well that went!)
Jaren Goh, a designer from Singapore is the brainchild designer behind this beautiful little creation. I really do suggest you visit his site, (it’s rather well done!) Here’s Jaren Goh’s site.
We all have toasters, but they take up space, and don’t offer a clue to how well they’re toasting. We can only sit and wonder,, doh I have lightly golden toast, or could this possibly look like ash from a nearby volcano upon it’s return to the land above the caldera of the toaster! You never know and there is no immediacy. With this design you get both.
Is it a Book or Kitchen Scales
November 16th, 2006 by Al in Kitchen Gadgets
As I’m in the process of fitting a new kitchen I’m on the lookout for useful (or quirky) kitchen gadgets (so far I have a flip down LCD TV and an American style fridge on my shopping list).
Kitchen scales are generally pretty boring so it was interesting to see these ones which work like traditional scales but are also shaped like a book so when not in use you can stand them alongside your regular cook books.
The Book Weighing Scales are available from mzuko for £54.99.
Pasta Express
November 8th, 2006 by Mike in Kitchen Gadgets
College students tend not to cook very often, unless you count a pack of Ramen Noodles or a Cup of Noodles as cooking (most people don’t). Why would they bother cooking though? It just generates left overs that won’t be eaten, and costs a lot of money, or more than a pack of Ramen. However cheap that kind of diet is, it isn’t healthy, and getting a Pasta Express, which can be used by even the worst chef, will let you enjoy some real food every once and awhile.
