Bag for BBQs

May 15th, 2007 by Al in Garden Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

BBQ Bag

Regular readers will know we do have a particular affection for the odd barbecue gadget, the next gadget to make our outdoor cooking that little bit easier is the Qbag, an aluminium foil bag for cooking food that doesn’t normally work so well on the grill.

I’ve often wrapped mushrooms and garlic up in tin foil to cook on the BBQ but the Qbag does offer one other advantage, it has a window so you can watch the food burning cooking and it also peels away so you can turn items if needed.

It’s not vastly superior to the old wrap it in tin foil trick, but hey it’s a gadget. The Qbag costs $5.95 (~$12) for 8 from Prezzybox.

For eating and working

May 11th, 2007 by David in Kitchen Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Wrenchware

The Spork thing has never really done it for me, as it does not actually do anything more than either of the two items can do on their own. What we really need is something that serves a proper dual purpose, not just being content with cutlery that we can just use for eating with, what we really want while we are eating our lunch, is a tool that can help with our jobs too! This is where the cleverly named “Wrench ware” comes into its own.

Talking Message Magnet

May 4th, 2007 by Al in Kitchen Gadgets

Discovery Message Magnet Set
This is a cool fridge magnet, the Discovery Message Magnet Set, it functions as both a fridge magnet (not that a fridge magnet has any particular useful function) and you use it to record messages for different members of the family.

The message magnet has 6 buttons which are used to play/record 10 second messages to other people in the household. Each button is also a picture frame so you can personalise it accordingly. So next time you go to the pub you can leave a message for the kids “Do your homework!”, message for the mother-in-law “Do the ironing/flat hunting!” and a message for the partner “I’ll be back after last orders”.

The Discovery Channel is selling the message magnet for $19.95, thanks RGS for the tip.

Corn-Off-The-Cob with the Kernel Kutter

May 3rd, 2007 by Mike D in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

kernelkutter

Ever since I bought the Cherry Pitter , I made it my personal mission to try to find other kitchen gadgets that accomplish the same goal: isolating the delicious from the waste. For too long our hands have been soiled by the food we eat – we struggle with those horrible pits, seeds, cores, bones, and crust in an effort to dine. Well, the genius that devised the Pineapple Prince and the Bread Bouler also has an item that was so fantastic, they named their company after it. Yes, the Kernel Kutter is here and gone are those days of sticky, buttery, burnt fingers (possibly rendering those mini plastic, cob-shaped darts (holders) for the ends of the cob obsolete).

Toast a logo

May 3rd, 2007 by David in Kitchen Gadgets

toaster

If you are tired with the ordinary type toaster that just toasts the bread with hint of anything special, then you could be looking for something like the Pop Art Toaster. Instead of just serving up a boring piece of over done toast, this toaster allows you to personalize each slice to suit your mood or the occasion that might be on a certain day, like birthdays or anniversaries.

Motorized Grill Brush

April 30th, 2007 by Al in Garden Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

Motorized Grill Brush

I am some what the typical bloke when it comes to the good old BBQ. I’m more than happy to supply friends and family with charred offerings but when it comes to cleaning the grill I’m gone. Then again if I had one of these that may be a different story, the motorized grill brush.

I’m not sure how the gadget would cope with my ex-PC BBQ but it’s got to be easier than manual washing and probably a tad more hygienic than just burning the grime off as I normally do.

You can get your own motorized grill brush from Brookstone for $25.00.

Zero Gravity Magnetic Spice Rack

Zero Gravity Magnetic Spice Rack
In nearly ever kitchen, space is at a premium. I mean, you’ve got the obligatory cabinets, toaster, microwave, fridge, oven, Margaritaville Daiquiri maker, etc. Being able to save space is awesome. The Zero Gravity Magnetic Spice Rack helps you save some space. Therefore, if my math is correct, it’s awesome. :P
