Slotless Toaster offers new design

October 25th, 2009 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

slotless-toasterToasters are often taken for granted that when a totally new design comes about, not many people would even notice. This model does not come with a couple of cavities to hold your bread – no sir, the Slotless Toaster is as described, where there are no slots available for you to get that perfectly brown toast, ready and waiting to be spread by some marmalade or jam.

Since bread is placed directly on the heated flatbed surface – not inside narrow slots, you can toast thick bagels or croissants, Texas toast, or baguettes. The unit has a 700-watt heating element that radiates through the 10 1/4″ x 7″ stainless-steel surface, browning or defrosting bread quickly and evenly. You can select your preferred level of browning with the turn of a dial and the under-mounted crumb tray slides out for fast, easy cleanup. When not in use, the slotless toaster can be stored on its side, freeing up valuable counter space.

Sounds like a dream come true for those who love having a perfect, piping hot slice of toast each morning, although you will need to make a $89.95 investment in the first place.

Concept toaster solves age-old problem

October 23rd, 2009 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

1222180Some of you might remember a scene from the film Kate and Leopold where Hugh Jackman is complaining that he has to plunge a General Electric toaster one and a half times to make toast. “Pushing the toast down twice produces charcoal, and pushing it once only produces warm bread.”

At this point, Meg Ryan responds: “You know what? No one gives a rat’s @$$ that you have to plunge the toast twice, because everybody has to plunge the toast twice!”

It’s an age old problem, isn’t it? We just can’t get our toast done right. However, this concept toaster uses two panes of glass to toast the bread, so you can see if it is done right.

2 in 1 Kitchen Scale doubles as a wall clock

October 20th, 2009 by Ally in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

2-in-1-kitchen-scale

Even if you do use a kitchen scale on a fairly regular basis, it’s doubtful that you use it constantly.  Which means it either goes to one of those deep dark cabinets or sits on the counter and gets in the way.  Well instead of trying to decide where is best to store the scale while it’s not in use, you could pick up this 2 in 1 kitchen scale.  It’s made to hang on your wall and when you don’t need a scale, it functions just fine as an average wall clock.

Pilar Faucet turns on from just a touch

October 16th, 2009 by Ally in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

delta_pilar_faucet

We’ve all had those days when your hands are full and you need to turn on the faucet.  It likely happens much more to parents with little ones.  Trying to balance a baby on the hip while needing to turn on the water.  It’s of course possible to pull off the task.  However, it’d be far easier to do it with this Pilar faucet.  Instead of having to turn a handle, all you have to do is touch the faucet and it kicks on immediately.

Cheese Grater Light makes cheese graters almost stylish

October 15th, 2009 by Ally in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

Alright, so I’m aware it’s a touch on the strange side to put a light inside of a bright orange cheese grater.  However, being a person who has a tendency to wander the house at night, it’s always nice to have a dim light going in the kitchen.  Then if you’re going to keep a light in the kitchen, you might as well make it a light that looks like it belongs in the kitchen.

It does make sense, but I realize that it does take a little extra work to justify it.  What doesn’t really help matters any is the price.  After all, one could pick up a light, a cheese grater and some orange spray paint and do the job themselves.  Items that could easily enough be done on your own always are more difficult to stomach the price tag.  This isn’t helping matters any though by costing you £29.00 or about $47.  It’s not a horrifying price, but it still seems like a bit much.  You can find yourself one of these cute lamps through The Conran Shop.

Programmable Tea Thermometer and Timer

October 14th, 2009 by Ally in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

For some it takes years of toying to discover exactly how long to let their tea brew.  It’s made especially complicated by the fact that there are white, green and black teas.  Then to top it off there are loose and bagged teas.  All of that information changes how you handle things.  You also have to consider how strong you prefer your tea.  Instead of trying to remember how long for each type, you can have an electronic device to work it out for you.

Rechargeable Wine Opener from Sharper Image

October 13th, 2009 by Mark R in Electronic Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

00011166-z1Those who are wine connoisseurs and those who just drink wine every so often have one problem in common: the struggle of opening the bottles. Sure, you could use a corkscrew, but I have had instances where the corkscrew gets stuck, or worse, goes down the side of the cork instead of the center. Good luck trying to get the cork out then. Since technology is supposed to make our lives easier, perhaps it was time that someone invented an electrical wine opener. For some reason, I am not surprised that it is Sharper Image to the rescue.

The Recharageable Wine Opener come with a foil cutter that allows the user to press the top of the bottle, and then spin it for a perfect cut off the top. From there, he or she just places the Rechargeable Wine Opener on the cork, pushes the button, and the automated corkscrew drills right in. There is a video after the jump if you want to see it in action.

Safe Slice can save little fingers

October 9th, 2009 by James in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets
Safe slice prevents cut fingers.

Safe slice prevents cut fingers.

If your little ones are expressing an interest in cooking, you can always make them your “sous chef” and get them to cut up the veggies. I know, I know, what are you nuts? Give our kid a knife to cut carrots? Well, with the Safe Slice, they’ll be as safe as watching you cut em.
