Eating or cooking with cherries is no longer the pits. (sorry, but it had to be said). OXO has re-designed the Cherry Pitter and this time around, it makes sense. At $11.99, this kitchen utility gadget might just be the most interesting tool in your drawer that you will rarely use.

April 20th, 2007 by Darrell in Kitchen Gadgets

porto-WasherAre you sick of the old lady nagging you about washing the dishes? Tired of the old wrinkly dish-pan hands after 10 minutes of scrubbing the pots and pans? Sounds like its time for you to pony up $175.00 for a brand spanking new EdgeStar Portable Countertop Dishwasher or a cute French maid (whatever your budget can afford).

The porto-washer has the capacity to fit up to four standard place settings and operates right on your countertop. Roll it up yourself!

April 20th, 2007 by Darrell in Kitchen Gadgets

MakiI love me some sushi. I’ll eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any snack in between.
The sushi@home Maki Rice Roller is a little gadget that gives us ordinary people the tools necessary to become great Sushi masters. Just add some rice, dried seaweed, crab, sesame, and whatever else you feel like and roll it up!

This little dandy can make Futomaki (fat, large, cylindrical piece, with nori on the outside) and Hosomaki (thin cut rolls generally made with one filling). I like the spicy tuna but you could put whatever you like in this cool little gadget. When I was living in Hawaii a little SPAM and pineapple would do the trick just fine! Ahhh SPAM, the nectar of the gods!

Professional Rotary Belgian Waffle Maker

April 18th, 2007 by Tiago in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

Professional Rotary Belgian Waffle Maker

Some people have a double feeling about many cooking gadgets, yes it becomes more practical and easy/fast to use them to do what you want, but on the other hand you lose the “personal touch” with the food. If you are not a fan of cooking, like myself, this isn’t important…

Anyway, this waffle maker is also known as Professional Rotary Belgian Waffle Maker, a fancy name. It comes with a couple of features that other similar gadgets don’t have, so I guess that is the reason of the mighty professional title.

The best feature it has is the rotary function, basically it is an easy way to flip the waffle with no work being done by you, and the finest thing is that the waffle maker lid won’t open. Read the rest of this entry »

Margaritaville frozen drink maker

April 11th, 2007 by Mike in Kitchen Gadgets

Margaritaville Frozen Drink Maker
I just came back from vacation in Puerto Rico, so I’m still on a frozen drink binge, namely strawberry daiquiris. After finding out the machine they use at resorts costs about $2,500, I was forced to look for a more economic solution. It’s not quite as good, but I believe the Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker can get the job done.

Cool Conceptual Toaster

March 31st, 2007 by Al in Conceptual Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

Cool Toaster

Designed by Atil Kizilbayir this is one of the coolest toasters I’ve ever seen. The toaster is designed to work like a heated tunnel, you put plain bread into the toasting carriage at one end, the ‘x’ seconds later the carriage pops out the other end with nicely tanned toast.

If this conceptual toaster ever becomes a reality I’ll be buying one though I’m not getting my hopes up.

Clever Cleavers, chopping board and knife combined

March 29th, 2007 by Al in Kitchen Gadgets

s_clever_hands.jpg Clever Scissors

I’m surprised I’ve not come across these before, cleaver scissors, a combination of knife, chopping board and scissors.

I’ve been cutting home made pizzas with a pair of scissors for years, pizza loving guests (love of pizza is a pre-requisite for an invitation to my abode) always give me a strange look when I start slicing with a pair of scissors but it doesn’t take long for them to be converted to the easy way of cutting the perfect slice.
