Bumper Boats for your Pool

June 7th, 2007 by Al in Garden Gadgets

Motorized Bumper Boat.

These are yet another reason why I need a pool in the garden, Motorized Bumper Boats.

Each boat can carry a child or adult and has a top speed of 3mph. Okay they’re not that fast but ramming each other in motorized boat in your own swimming pool is my idea of an ideal Sunday afternoon.

Bumper boats cost $99.95 from Hammacher, I now need to start saving for:

  • Bigger house with room for a pool
  • A swimming pool
  • Two bumper boats,
  • Donations welcome :) .

Viteo Garden Shower, Stylish yet pricey

June 4th, 2007 by James in Garden Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Viteo Garden Shower

Is it just me or is this the sexiest pool gadget going right now?

The Viteo Garden Shower begins a gentle, meter high shower as soon as you step on it’s white platform a little over four inches high. What’s interesting about it is that instead of water coming down on top of you, it springs up from below, fountain style.

Bag for BBQs

May 15th, 2007 by Al in Garden Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

BBQ Bag

Regular readers will know we do have a particular affection for the odd barbecue gadget, the next gadget to make our outdoor cooking that little bit easier is the Qbag, an aluminium foil bag for cooking food that doesn’t normally work so well on the grill.

I’ve often wrapped mushrooms and garlic up in tin foil to cook on the BBQ but the Qbag does offer one other advantage, it has a window so you can watch the food burning cooking and it also peels away so you can turn items if needed.

It’s not vastly superior to the old wrap it in tin foil trick, but hey it’s a gadget. The Qbag costs $5.95 (~$12) for 8 from Prezzybox.

Dawn of the RoboLawn

May 5th, 2007 by James in Garden Gadgets, Home Automation, Home Gadgets, Robot Gadgets

LawnBotWhen I visited Epcot Center at Disney World for my honeymoon in 1994, one of memorable products I saw showcased was a prototype robotic lawnmower. Well, in 2007 K.A. Home Robotics has introduced the LawnBot for those of us who don’t live in the “experimental prototype community of tomorrow.”

The LawnBot isn’t related to iRobot’s successful and innovative Roomba, but it does share similar features. Working autonomously by means of its preprogrammed computer and a perimeter cable, the LawnBot can mow up to three separate sectors totaling 33,000 square feet and then return itself to its recharging dock.

Pool table tennis

I’m sure having your own swimming pool in the back garden must get a bit boring after a while so this next gadget can bring a bit more coolness to the home pool, the floating table tennis table. Read the rest of this entry »

Dual Hose Programmable Timer

May 1st, 2007 by Mike in Garden Gadgets

Dual Hose Programmable Timer (t)
If you don’t have one of those fancy, in-ground, automated, box controlled sprinkler systems (which I admit are cool in a nerdy kind of way), you really have to be around when watering, otherwise you’ll be leaving the water on all day. I mean, you can do that, but you’re water bill will really, well, surprise you at the end of the month. For those of us who still want our old school, above ground sprinklers and hoses, there is the Dual Hose Programmable Timer.

Concrete - Patterned when wet

May 1st, 2007 by Al in Garden Gadgets

Cement tiles

Concrete tiles are generally pretty boring, these ones however have a some what interesting twist, when they get wet they transform from plain grey blocks of fake stone to patterned tiles.

The tiles are known as Solid Poetry and were created as a graduation project, I’ve no idea how they work but at least next time the BBQ gets rained off you’ll have something to take your guests minds away from hunger.

More info over at Frederikmolenschot (try saying that after a few pints) thanks the style files.
