Lace-amatic solves age old conundrum

by Edwin - on February 8, 2010

lace-a-matic

Before zippers came along, mankind had to grapple with their arch nemesis – laces. Apart from making it extremely difficult for a hot-blooded male to relieve his consort of her extremely tight corset (which was wound with a knot that proved harder than the Gordian knot), it also proved to be rather messy when you needed it to stay in place the most. Well, the Lace-amatic could offer a dramatic solution to this age old problem, functioning as a device which acts as an instant on/off switch for walking & running shoes. With but a single wave of your finger, it is capable of tightening, knotting or undoing laced shoes – all without having to bend over. Requiring very little strength as well, it takes a minimal degree of dexterity or flexibility to operate. Seems to be available only in Canada at point of publishing though, but this is one invention which we welcome with open arms (and wounded up knots).

The Real Time Canvas Clock shows current time

by Ally - on February 7, 2010

Real-time-Canvas-Clock_01

Lately I’ve been thinking of replacing my wall clock and going for something completely different and with this Canvas Clock that’s exactly what I’ve found.  Printed onto a pretty white canvas is nothing more than a clock.  However, instead of purely being an image like it initially appears, it actually tells you the current time.  It’s a great way for you to have that tabletop clock look except on your wall.

Becherlicht Lamp features its own shadow

by Ally - on February 7, 2010

3d-lamp-shade-shadow-500x375

Most lamps when created have things in mind like giving you task lighting or illuminating one of your favorite objects.  This lamp instead spotlights itslef more than anything else.  Sure, it might give some task lighting, but more than anything else it shows off its very own shadow.  Not just any shadow though, no this one is actually 3-D and can be adjusted to your liking.

Electronic Key Impressioner makes key copies from the lock itself

by Mark R - on February 5, 2010

lockduplicator-thumb-550x454-33282One of the problems with having a car is when you lose the key and you can’t find the spare. If only you could find a friend who has the Electronic Key Impressioner.

All you need to do is stick that key-shaped end into a lock, and it can scan a lock from the inside and record what it sees.

From there, it is as easy as taking it back to the computer and plugging it into the computer via USB port. This gives a code that can be used in a key making machine.

Steel Clean Soap Stainless Steel Hand Odor Remover Bar

by Edwin - on February 5, 2010

steel-soapIf there ever was a gadget with a really, really long name, the Steel Clean Soap Stainless Steel Hand Odor Remover Bar would have picked up a whole bunch of accolades a long time ago. Just take a gander at how many words it has! This neat little addition to your home will help you keep your hands clean without having to struggle with your conscience on whether the soap you’re using is environmentally friendly or not. After all, it works sans chemicals, neutralizing odors as well as breaking down their molecules upon contact, capable of removing even traditional odor strongholds such as onion, fish and garlic among others. It looks like some silvery egg, and with a price point of $3.69, it would be hard to let it pass by without a purchase.

DISPLAX: The touchscreen wallpaper of the future

by Mark R - on February 3, 2010

Displax_2I think that we all know that the future is full of Microsoft Surface technology, and I look forward to the day when every table or desk is a touchscreen.

DISPLAX, made by a Portuguese company, is prepared for an age where every tabletop, wall, or any large flat (or even curved) surface could be a touchscreen. DISPLAX is a thinner-than-paper polymer film that can be applied to glass, plastic, or wood and can detect up to 16 touches at once.

I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to think of some good uses already. In fact, my dream house will have DISPLAX as wall-paper in every room.

That way, any wall I want can be a television, and recipes can appear on the wall in my kitchen. I would imagine that I could check my email or social media sites from any room, including the bathroom.

Mushroom Lamp for grown up Mario addicts

by Ally - on February 3, 2010

Mushrooms have managed to becomes slightly famous.  In part due to..well..the drug version of course.  Then the type that you run into to make Mario grow.  Actually, they are both pretty similar.  This mushroom doesn’t look like a cheap plastic mushroom though, with this you can pretend to be chic and modern.  When in reality you just love it because of the hours you’ve spent chasing mushrooms just to make you a little taller.  Hopefully in virtual form only.  People look at you strange when you start chasing after mushrooms in the woods, because you think they’ll make you grow.

Chili Bed warms one side and cools the other

by Ally - on February 3, 2010

chillbed-2-510x300.jpg

I have a serious reputation for being constantly frozen, which usually means the second anyone enters my house they’re burning alive.  That is unless I have thought ahead and turned down the thermostat to a normal person type of temperature.  For those of you that either live with someone who’s always warm or freezing this mattress will make sleeping a lot easier.  It’ll allow for one side to be heated all the while the other side is keeping the other person cool.
