Mark III Pod gets you way into the game
Sometimes, when I am playing video games, I get so into them that I completely shut off myself from the rest of the world. Fortunately, the Mark III Pod is an actual way to do the job a lot better than my mental facilities ever could.
It’s almost like those sit-down video games that were quite the kick back in the eighties are making a comeback, and taken a step further. The Mark III Pod, made by Pod Wombats, is made for PC or console gaming with a joystick, steering controller, and display inside.

Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q708 and X305-Q706 notebooks
Toshiba is at the forefront of notebook technology yet again, and this time round they will tease us with the Qosmio X305-Q708 and X305-Q706 notebooks. What makes these notebooks so special and different from the rest that they need some kind of special treatment? Well, for starters, both notebooks are powerful gaming machines that not only feature NVIDIA’s latest integrated (yet powerful) GeForce 9400M graphics processing unit, it is also assisted by not one, but TWO(!) NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS enthusiast-class GPUs. This brings the grand total of graphical processing units in a notebook to a whopping three – offering users a toss up between maximum performance and quiet operation in a single device.

EA announces Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box
Criterion Games has just made available Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box for the masses, making a great game even better by releasing it in a special edition box that not only comes with the award-winning Burnout Paradise game, it is also accompanied by the previously-released Burnout Paradise Cagney and Burnout Paradise Bikes content updates, in addition to totally new Burnout Paradise Party content. Burnout Paradise Party, being the latest software addition that has not yet been seen before, is an offline multiplayer mode specially concocted to enable up to eight friends to “pass-the-pad” in dozens of Burnout challenges. Would be nicer if this feature was extended for online play, since it would be pretty hard to find seven other friends to hop over these days when (nearly) everything can be done virtually. Those who already own Burnout Paradise can always download Burnout Paradise Party separately after forking out a certain amount for it. Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box will be out next February on the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms as well as the PC.
Fanatec releases Limited Edition Porsche 911 Turbo S Racing Wheels for Xbox 360

Like many other hot blooded males out there, I too, have a penchant for fast cars – although my experience has been limited to solely the digital kind as I do not have the cash to pony up for an exotic four wheeler from the local luxury car showroom. Al, how about a hefty bonus this Christmas?
Well, for those who are in the same boat as me and love driving fast cars but are rather more concerned with bread and butter issues at this point in time, there is always a compromise. Fanatec, a manufacturer of high end gaming peripherals, has just announced that it will be rolling out its new Porsche 911 Turbo S Racing Wheels specially for the Xbox 360. Hmm, at least you can brag to your friends that you have a Porsche at home – never mind that it is just a steering wheel. You can choose from a trio of versions – 911 Turbo S Edition, Clubsport Edition, and Pure Edition when you place your pre-order.

Gears of War 2 Merchandise
It appears the Gears of War franchise is bigger than I thought as I found not one, but two products that are Gears of War related today.
First is the Gears of War themed Zune, which not only sports specially designed graphics on the frame, but it comes pre-loaded with 240 pieces of Gears of War and its sequel’s media including “the original game soundtrack, behind-the-scenes videos, game trailers, concept art galleries, and more”. All of this content is exclusive to this Microsoft MP3 Player.
Of course, if you really want to live Gears of War, you can always purchase the Lancer rifle, a virtual prop from the game now turned real. As you can see by the fake blood on the saw edge of this, this is no children’s toy. However, it does have one fun feature as it can vibrate, and even has a chainsaw sound.

Nano-Tech Water Drop Puzzle

I know that video games are great tools when it comes to training up you eye-brain-hand co-ordination, but for those who are on a tight budget and cannot afford to purchase game after game every month, there is always a cheaper alternative, although the addictive level is not there. The Nano-Tech Water Drop Puzzle relies on a special nano technology panel design that does away with the need for a small ball bearing within, but uses some water instead. The water will zip by really quickly, and the whole goal of the game is to move these droplets into the right position. There are four different levels of difficulty to choose from, and you can pick it up for $22 a pop. Choose from yellow, orange, grey and blue colors.
Asus rolls out new gaming notebooks
I don’t know about you, but there is just something about gaming notebooks that turn me off. Number one, you have the extra bulk to tote around which certainly won’t bode well for your back in the long run, while the battery life is nothing short of shameful. Not only that, while it might be able to play the latest and greatest games on-the-road, it will never be able to match up to a real gaming experience on a desktop PC. Despite those personal reasons, gaming notebooks aren’t dead and they don’t seem to be dying off anyways, with Asus being the latest company to unveil a couple more gaming notebooks in the form of the G71 and G50.

MetalStrike Authentic Joysticks for flight simulation games

For years, gamers have been playing flight simulation games like the Flight Simulator with a keyboard and a mouse. Sure, you can purchase a joystick for a little bit of added realism, but is that joystick really a “stick” so to speak?
All of that is about to change with a new series of MetalStrike joysticks. There are three of them: the MetalStrike FF, the MetalStrike Pro, and the MetalSrike 3D. As you can see from this picture of the MetalStrike FF, it really looks like the controls that you would find on an F-22.
All of these controllers have 13 programmable buttons, an eight-way POV switch, and even a turbo function for autorepeat. These controllers also have a four axis design for rudder, aileron, elevator, throttle, and other controls.
