Razer Mamba gaming mouse

by Edwin

Gamers take their hardware very seriously, so it is no surprise to see a company like Razer thriving on gaming peripherals alone. The recent CES saw Razer release new products, and we’ll take a closer look at the Razer Mamba gaming mouse today.

Razer has unleashed the full potential of gaming mice by designing an ergonomic, lag free gaming mouse with 2.4GHz gaming grade wireless technology, making it the fastest mouse both on and off the cord. With dual mode wired/wireless functionality, the Razer Mamba lets users immediately and seamlessly switch from wired to wireless play. With first in class polling rates at 1ms as compared to traditional wireless mice that poll at 8ms, players will have virtually lag free game play. The Razer Mamba also includes a host of features like Razer Synapse on-board memory that lets gamers store and bring their mouse settings wherever they go. And the world’s fastest 5600DPI Razer Precision 3.5G Laser sensor, the Razer Mamba wireless gaming mouse lets gamers move with lightning speed and precision to easily escape from becoming prey.

How soon will you be able to get your hands on this lethal weapon? Well, it will be put up for sale on Razerzone.com this February, followed by a worldwide release sometime in the first quarter. It will retail for $129.99 in the US, while our friends living in Europe will have to fork out the same amount in the Euro denomination which kinda sucks considering how we’re losing out on the exchange rate.

Creative HS-1100 tournament gaming headset has Silencer technology

by Edwin

Creative has long been in the computing audio industry for customers to know they offer a wide range of products that cater for just about any budget and need, and today we’ll look at something more niche since it involves hardcore gamers. Of course, regular gamers will also appreciate the technology found in the Creative Tournament Gaming Headset HS-1100 that features Silencer, the company’s proprietary noise cancelling technology. This is the first product in the world to do so, and we are extremely sure that it won’t be the last either. What is Creative’s Silencer technology all about? Judging by the name alone, it shouldn’t be too hard to deduce – this is a breakthrough in voice technology that enables the user’s voice to be clearly heard by other gamers whom they are communicating with as the Silencer is smart enough to remove ambient background noise so that voice fidelity is improved.

by Edwin

Mad Catz is a company that is well known for its range video game accessories, and they have gotten on board the Street Fighter bandwagon with its new range of accessories that are tipped to be released in time for the franchise’s first next generation release sometime next month. As anyone who grew up during the furious arcade years where Street Fighter II was king, they would remember fondly of the six button joystick setup, and this time round you can expect the new accessories to offer a similar support that caters to the game’s unique button mapping in order to enhance gameplay for both casual and dedicated fans without pinching the pocket too much.

Use The Force in The Star Wars Force Trainer

by Ally

This has got to be the best and most humorous use of brain wave technology.  Just like all the other brain wave games this one gives you an obstacle you have to accomplish by focusing and thinking hard on moving the object.  The more you concentrate, the better you’ll do.  Although the obstacle course with this one is far more simple than the Mindflex, it has plenty of geek appeal.  This one adds a Star Wars spin to the concept, which means there will likely be no shortage of fans pursuing this game.

SimCraft Took me for a ride at CES

by Mark R

We already discussed the Emperor super-power chair from NovelQuest, but in the booth next to it at CES was SimCraft’s racing simulator. That’s real Indy 500 race car driver Sarah Fisher in the photo, by the way.

I got a chance to try it, and I tell you, it felt like I was really auto racing. The frame was made of the same materials found in actual race cars, and it moved when I turned the wheel. I quickly learned that first lesson of racing: an inch is a mile.

In other words, you barely need to turn the wheel when you are going at 150 miles an hour on the track. You also have to stay on the outside of ring of the track, because once you go inside, your suspension gets all messed up and you go into the wall. Could a console game have taught me that? Not even with a steering wheel control.

Look Out Motion-control, here comes the Cywee!

by Mark R

I hold to the belief that the coolest gadgets are probably the ones that we do not know about. I met with a lot of big names at CES today like Panasonic, Samsung, and Pioneer, but one of the most amazing devices that I found was the Cywee.

The Cywee is a combination of a motion control mouse like the Logitech MX Air and a gun controller for video games. It connects to a PC by plugging in a wireless USB key. From there, the user can have a more realistic first person shooter experience using the trigger underneath. The rest of the control is all about motion, and if the user holds it at each end, it works like the controls for Mario Cart for the Wii.
