Walking Mario Characters

August 10th, 2006 by Liam in Gaming Gadgets

Walking Mario Characters
This is more of a novelty gadget than anything. These walking Mario characters are small remote controlled characters from Nintendo’s Mario games which can walk, run, turn left and right as well as make some neat little sounds.

The coolest thing about these characters is that they are controlled by controllers which look like the old Nintendo controllers. You can pretend you’re playing a real-life version of the old Mario games!

Each one goes for $16.90 and you can order one from Toys.brando.com.hk.

Get Your Own Virtual Girlfriend (or Boyfriend)

August 8th, 2006 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Virtual GirlfriendThis is like an adult version of Tamagotchi, the aim of the game is to bed your virtual partner (okay the aim is to keep him or her happy (and then get your cyber wicked way)).

Each device comes with 8 different potential mates, so if you get bored of one you can treat her mean in the hope of being dumped so that you can move on to your next conquest. Playing the game sounds pretty simple:

The more satisfied your virtual date becomes, the more points you collect and the longer the relationship lasts. Using the three control buttons you can select between gifts (anything from lingerie to deodorant), compliments (oblique or spectacularly blunt), places to go (the jewellers or to the bingo) or, if you’re feeling lucky, wild passion.

Available from Firebox (due to the risqué language this is not suitable for kids). Thanks to the biggest NY Giants football fan I know for the news.

Power Cop

August 8th, 2006 by Liam in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, Home Automation

Power Cop
Do you have kids that waste too much time playing video games or other electronic time-wasters? If so the Power Cop could be perfect for you. The Power Cop is a programmable power block which allows you to set a maximum amount of usage an electrical device can be used for before it is automatically locked.

The electrical device is plugged into the Power Cop, and the Power Cop is then plugged into the wall. Once the device is plugged into the Power Cop it is locked in and can only be unplugged by one of the two included keys so there’s no way to get a few extra minutes except maybe with a sledgehammer ;).

WolfKing Warrior Game Keypad

July 20th, 2006 by Liam in Gaming Gadgets

WolfKing Warrior Game Keypad
If you’re an intense gamer and find yourself slowed down by the clunky old standard keyboard, then this keyboard might be for you. The WolfKing Warrior Game Keypad features all of the keys you would normally have control over with your left hand, as well as all the function keys and numeric keys.

Designed in a circular shape it provides you easy access to all keys. Also included at odd spots are the O, B and K keys, as well as +/= and -/_ to give you more options for keys. The three small grey buttons on the side are customisable also.

USB RC Car Simulator

July 11th, 2006 by Al in Gaming Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Software, USB Gadgets

USB RC ControllerI’m not sure if this is cool or not. It’s a computer simulation of a remote control car with a realistic high end controller. The Controller connects via USB and is used to control the remote control car on screen.

It does look cool but I’m still left with the feeling that this type of simulation is overkill, I can understand racing games and flight sims as Mr Joe Public isn’t going to get a chance to race an F1 or fly a Tornado but a remote control car is within most peoples grasp and it’s not like there’s a risk of serious injury if you crash it.

Then again the more I look at this the more I want one, so ignore that previous rant :).

Play Pacman against insects

July 8th, 2006 by Paz in Gaming Gadgets, Retro Gadgets

Pacman arcade game

I hope you all remember the arcade game Pacman! It was an arcade game that was a huge hit in the 80’s, so much so that it even took its developers by surprise.

As you might recall, the object of the game was to gobble up as many dots as possible, avoiding the four ghosts (who had names, but I can’t remember them now).

The original Pacman ghosts were computer-controlled, but in this version of the game developed by a Dutch student, Wim van Eck, the ghosts are “controlled” by insects.

Sudoku Toilet Roll

June 29th, 2006 by Stephen in Gaming Gadgets, Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Sudoku Toilet Roll

If I asked you to name a game beginning with the letter ‘S’ what would you say? Sudoku of course! You either love it or you hate it but either way, you can’t escape it.

Incase you have been living in a cave for the past 2 years and don’t know what I’m on about, I’ll explain. Sudoku is a game where you complete a grid (say 3×3) so each column and each row has the numbers 1 to 9. Sounds easy but can be highly frustrating at times, especially super Sudoku table.
