AMD has just announced AMD GAME!, a program that will help design consumers choose the perfect PC for high definition gaming. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, high definition looks set to take over the entertainment world in the immediate future, although it will take some time more as high end graphical hardware isn’t exactly cheap to the average Joe at this point in time (not to mention the ever falling dollar that seems to be worth less and less each day. AMD GAME! platforms bring together the powerful balance of multi-core processors, exceptional HD digital media, and next-generation graphics processing power in a single package. Acer, Alienware, Logitech and Microsoft will be hooking up with AMD to ensure consumers can easily identify PCs that deliver HD gaming and entertainment experiences out of the box. Sorta like a “buying gaming PCs for dummies” kinda thing made easy.

May 15th, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets
Considering the popularity of World of Warcraft and other MMO games, developers everywhere are trying to figure out how to make the gaming experience more real for the gamer.
This is where devices like the jDome come in to play. As you can see, the jDome is a giant semispherical display that allows a gamer to see a semi-realistic 180 degree point-of-view of their player character.
The jDome is made of a transparent material that allows images to be projected upon it. According to the picture, that projector must be placed at the height of a bookcase.
Finger Conditioning With Xtensor Improves Reaction Time
May 13th, 2008 by AndrewD in Gaming Gadgets, Medical Gadgets
Every diehard gamer knows that reaction time is just about everything when it comes to fight-based computer games. As long as you a have sharp mind and fast moving digits, you’d figure everything would be working at top notch.
But sometimes, even the fastest thinking people have a problem coordinating their hands to move as fast as their mind, not to mention that over time, especially on all-night gaming sessions, your fingers and wrist are bound to get weak throughout the night, totally causing hell to your gaming skills.
If your fingers have a tough time keeping up with your mind, there’s only one way to solve this problem, and no, it is not to think slower. The Xtensor Geek Hand Exerciser is the only contraption on the market which is geared towards hand strength for gaming specifically in mind.
NES Controller Coffee Table
May 9th, 2008 by Mark R in DIY Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets
As you know, Coolest Gadgets has several categories for its subject matter. Even though I flagged this article under “DIY Gadgets” and “Gaming Gadgets”, I should have categorized it as “I just couldn’t resist reporting on this”.
I’m sure you can see why from the photo. For young inventor Kyle Downes (not the person in the photo) has actually perfected shrink-ray technology, and has reversed the process to create a giant NES controller.
Just kidding. Mr. Downes may be smart, but he’s not that smart. He has fashioned a cool coffee table that is shaped like an old-school NES controller. I’m sure we would all have to agree that the boy’s got skills.
Not only does the coffee table look like an NES, you can play it like an NES. That’s right, feel free to plug in Super Mario Brothers or Battletoads and have a big-button frenzy.
Warcraft Millionaire: The Blueprint to One Million Gold
May 9th, 2008 by Edwin in Gaming Gadgets
I suppose if you’re an angsty teen who frequents gadget websites such as CG, then chances are you also fall into the demographic where video and computer games play a very big role in your entertainment life, much to the chagrin of your parents I presume. After all, if you have passion for something and spend plenty hours on it, why not turn it into a career? Apparently this is what Brad Johnson has done. His chosen cash cow? Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. His first product, Warcraft Millionaire: The Blueprint to One Million Gold, is a self-proclaimed “complete gold making solution for the world’s most popular MMORPG”. With millions of World of Warcraft (WoW) players from all over the globe providing feedback in recent months on how to turn WoW into a money making enterprise, Brad Johnson seized upon this opportunity to compile what can be considered the world’s most complete WoW gold guide, specially designed to integrate the top gold making techniques from multiple strategies into a thorough package of tips, strategies, and resources.
Marine Catcher Matches Claw for Claw
May 7th, 2008 by Mark R in Gaming Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets
This is one of those coolest gadgets that just screams of irony. Yes, what you see in the photo is true: the Marine Catcher is one of those claw games that lets you catch a pair of claws. The water on the bottom isn’t there for a challenge, but to protect the prize: a lobster.
As far as I know, this Marine Catcher can only be found in Osaka, Japan’s Namba district. I’m not certain how much yen a player has to insert for this crustacean gamble.
In case you are wondering, the machine has a plastic bag in case you actually catch one of these lobsters. That’s good, because I wouldn’t want one of these lobsters squirming around in my backpack.
Tamagotchi Familitchi rolls out
May 5th, 2008 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets
Could the release of the Tamagotchi Familitchi bring about yet another craze which we saw so many years ago?
So say konichiwa to Tamagotchi Familitchi, an all new wave of the world’s favorite handheld virtual pets. In a nutshell (or should that be eggshell?) owners hatch and then raise their pet by pressing buttons throughout the day. The more your Tamagotchi matures the more games you can play and the more areas of Tamagotchi Town you can visit on the web. You can even travel to foreign destinations, visit your Tamagotchi parents and meet the Tamagotchi King!
What makes this version different from the ones of old is the ability to acces new passwords in Tamagotchi Town, earning precious Gotchi points which can then be redeemed for virtual items such as food, travel tickets, toys and clothes among others. You can also meet Tamagotchi fans from all over the world when logged on. The new Tamagotchi Familitchi will retail for £12.95 a pop.
