Sony unveils new PSP

July 12th, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

new-slim-psp.jpg

Looks like word on a new PSP is not a rumor after all, but gospel truth. Unfortunately, the revamped PSP did not come with what most people are looking forward to - the supposed 8GB of flash memory as well as a second analog control. What this new PSP has is a lighter and slimmer body, weighing 33% less while being 19% slimmer than the previous model. The most notable addition would be a TV out port that enables you to play your games or watch movies when hooked up to a big screen TV. Not only that, the new PSP comes in a bunch of new colors when it is released this September. I suppose this will force the hand of fence sitters, while those who already own a PSP won’t be making an upgrade anytime soon.

Movie rentals from Disney on Xbox Live

July 12th, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, Software

xbox-live-disney-abc.jpg

Disney-ABC has teamed up with Microsoft to allow Xbox 360 owners to rent movies online, courtesy of the Xbox Live service. Since the Xbox 360 already comes with integrated networking capabilities, it makes sense to give them access to online game demo downloads, simple arcade games, videos, and movies. Movies from Disney studios aren’t the only fare up on offer, as the spread includes titles from Miramax and Touchstone Pictures.

Nintendo Wii offers healthy game

July 12th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, Home Gadgets

wii-fit.jpgMention video games to any parent and most of them will often roll their eyes in disgust, as they know just how addictive those games can get. In fact, there is a very negative connotation to video games for the better part of the last few years due to a higher level of obesity among children, where even high school shootings and violent behaviour has been attributed to this “electronic scourge”. Nintendo has gone a long way in rolling back those images though with their lineup of family friendly gaming titles as well as massive hardware hits in the form of the still scarce Wii and the phenomenal DS Lite. There is a new game being touted by Nintendo to keep gamers fit in the process, and it goes by the title of Wii Fit.

Cyber Snipa Warboard offers revolutionary gaming experience

July 11th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, PC Gadgets

cyber-snipa-warboard.jpg

When it comes to playing games, those who can multitask the best often wins. Of course, this takes into account that both players share the same level of skill, tactical acumen, and perhaps even luck. Unfortunately, with very little separating two gaming titans from each other, the difference between glorious victory and defeat could boil down to the hardware used. The Cyber Snipa Warboard ensures that you get the best gaming experience possible, providing up to 10 assignable macro keys physically, with five on each end of the keyboard. Guess you have no excuse now if you lose even when using the Cyber Snipa Warboard, so don’t quit your programmer job yet to be a pro-gamer.

Wii Fishing Pole add on

July 5th, 2007 by Edwin in Gaming Gadgets

wii-fishing-pole.jpg

We all know that Bass Fishing will be heading towards the Wii, which is why this plastic attachment to the Wiimote has been released by Brando. Dubbed the Wii Fishing Pole, it converts your Wiimote into a pseudo fishing pole to increase the level of realism and immersion. Since it is retractable, storing it would be a cinch. The Wii Fishing Pole has a minimum length of 53cm and a maximum reach of 130cm, retailing for $19. I guess the only thing you’d catch with this pole are incredulous stares from your family.

8-bit Belmont is 2-bit toy

June 30th, 2007 by Edwin in Gadget Gift Ideas, Gaming Gadgets

8bit-belmont.jpg

Castlevania has been a fan favorite for many over the years, and to commemorate the launch of the Castlevania line of figures, NECA’s booth at the Comic Con in San Diego this year will be putting up this 3″ tall Belmont as an exclusive promotion. There will only be a thousand of these pieces available, so you can be sure that supply will be scarce. For those who cannot make it to San Diego, there is always eBay. You just gotta love 8-bit figures as the imagination is much more involved compared to today’s real life graphics that do nothing other than spoonfeed the player with preconceived ideas.

June 30th, 2007 by Mike in DIY Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

Hydra console dev kit
For you to think the Hydra Console Game Dev Kit is incredibly awesome (which it is), you have to be real geek.
