Lexar continues its march in the world of storage space where memory cards are concerned, and this time round they will target hardcore gamers or just casual gamers who are looking for a reliable data storage solution of all their important gaming data. After all, wouldn’t it be a real damper to find out that the hundreds of hours you’ve spent investing in playing an RPG to bring your party up to near deity-like powers disappear in a puff of smoke just because the game data stored on a particular memory card is corrupted due to a hardware defect? Lexar hopes to prevent that heartache from happening to you with their new gaming-centric Memory Stick Micro and SDHC memory cards.

These new gaming memory cards from Lexar will come in 4GB and 8GB capacities, offering gamers the ability to store critical gaming data and information including cheat codes, checkpoints, custom settings, high scores, bonus materials, and player profiles while having peace of mind whenever the console is switched off. Apart from that, the new gaming memory cards also allow gamers to keep and manage games as well as downloaded multimedia content for future reference/use when the need arises.

The Lexar Gaming M2 card would most probably see the most action on Sony’s PSPgo and other Sony M2 devices, and for folks who are still gaming on their Sony PSPs, Lexar has the Gaming Memory Stick PRO Duo card all nicely wrapped up for you as well. As for Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DSi owners, you will be able to choose from the new Lexar Gaming SDHC card. The M2 will come in 4GB and 8GB capacities as with the SDHC card, whie the Gaming Memory Stick PRO Duo card will have both flavors in addition to a smaller 2GB capacity. All purchases will come with a 5-year limited warranty. No matter how reliable a piece of hardware claims to be, we would still recommend you make a backup somewhere. After all, you never know when Murphy might strike.

I remember this MAD magazine comic back in the eighties of a father who spends lots of money to get into Disney World, and his kids don’t seem to be interested in the rides. They are interested in the video arcade, and the last panel is the father sulking, probably thinking: “I could have just taken the kids to the arcade and saved so much money”.

Disney World has now figured out a better way to have their spectators play video games. They put them in the line at Space Mountain. Apparently, Space Mountain roller coaster has a reputation of being the ride with the slowest line. The cars aren’t designed with a conveyor belt system so passengers can just be loaded up while the cars are in motion.

As a result, spectators get very impatient in line. These video games are programmed to last about 90 seconds, and these games can accommodate 86 players at one time. I’m not certain if all 86 players are playing against each other, but it does look like a pretty cool game on the giant display.

It doesn’t look like the video games are too complicated. It reminds me of the Mission: Space ride at Epcot, where the spectators have to push certain buttons to go further in the ride. Not that the ride won’t go on if you don’t push the buttons, but it just creates a more interactive feel.

Perhaps all rides at Disney theme parks will have some sort of thing to to while waiting. Of course, we do have mobile device so keep us entertained, don’t we?

Gamers tend to take their “vocation” seriously, as bragging rights are up for stake with winners feeling that nice, warm glow all over while losers look at their mouse and start cursing. That’s right – watch any average gamer duke it out with the rest of their mates at a LAN party and you’ll realize that the losing side tend to be more frustrated in terms of body language, sending forth a smattering of cuss words alongside banging the mouse on the table, touting that they missed that crucial shot due to being let down by inferior gaming hardware. Razer has been in the business long enough to know what they’re doing, and their latest release would be the Razer Abyssus gaming mouse that target those who are new to the world of gaming and want a feel of what professional gaming equipment is like before diving headlong later on with the gaming bug going at full steam ahead.

The Razer Abyssus gaming mouse will merge both simplicity with a state-of-the-art 3.5G 3500dpi infrared sensor to make sure you can make the shot just about any and every time as long as you have the ability to do so. Targeting gamers who demand reliability and functionality under the fiercest gameplay conditions, the Razer Abyssus will come equipped with a couple of large non-slip buttons that have been tuned for maximum tactile feedback, featuring Razer’s built-in Hyperesponse technology. Located underneath, Razer has placed a couple of easily accessible mechanical switches, where one of them is used for on-the-fly dpi switching for a choice of 450, 1800, or 3500dpi, while the other offers a polling rate switch that enables instant adjustment from a standard 125hz to 1000hz Ultrapolling.

Expect the Razer Abyssus to hit North America for $49.99, while our friends living across the Atlantic have it slightly cheaper (dollar-for-dollar) at €39.99. As for the other regions of the world, they’ll just have to wait until later next month – hopefully in time for the holiday season.

I was at McDonalds with my kids the other day, and it was one of those with a Playplace, complete with free video games. They had this video game where the player stood on a controller that looked like a skateboard without wheels. My kids and I had a fun time trying to steer the skateboarder through a series of obstacles, and it was harder than it sounds.

Since it reminded me of the balance games on the WiiFit, I couldn’t help but wonder why a home version of this skateboarding video game hasn’t been made for the WiiFit board. Actually, there is. Skateboarding Wii has been out for a while, and Thrustmaster, maker of many game accessories, has created a peripheral for this game with the T-Freestyle NW.

All the gamer has to do is attach the genuine maple board on the WiiFit and get ready to maneuver half-pipes and rail jams just like a real skateboarder or snowboarder. It uses Rolling Motion Board technology, which allows for optimum lateral movement and steering.

The Thrustmaster T-FreeStyle NW will be available at the end of November (just in time for the holidays) for $29.99. I believe that is peripheral, plus the price of Skateboarding Wii, is probably cheaper that the Tony Hawk Ride.

Dolls always seem to have the strangest features, yes there are still normal dolls out there, but there are just as many oddballs. You can get babies that make noise, that pee their diaper and can even crawl away. The strangest of them all is always the one that can soil a fake diaper. Well now all the little girls of the world can have a doll to go with their Nintendo Wii.

The doll has an opening to allow a Wiimote to be jammed into its back. It is created for the game Baby and Me. Within the game it has the girl do the normal things like rock the baby, burp it and even teach the doll to walk. It uses the speaker within the Wiimote to make the baby make the usual noises like crying and laughing. Although the doll looks ridiculous to every rational full grown adult, I’m sure one toy commercial for this would be enough to hook quite a few little girls.

It isn’t unusual that video games come with at least one odd peripheral to make much more realistic gameplay, but this Baby and Me Special Edition has to be one of the most unusual that I have seen.

The particular toy comes with an actual doll that the child straps the Wiimote to. Then the baby doll “reacts by giggling, gurgling or crying through the Wii remote”. From there, I would imagine a child can learn the wonders of being a mother as he or she can feed the baby and put the baby to sleep.

I am assuming that this game will take advantage of the Wiimote’s motion control feature for this. By the way, players can even get the Wii Balance Board (presumably the one from WiiFit) to rock baby to sleep, burp the baby, and teach baby to walk.

By the way, there is eight play mode games that include a rattle, catching, clapping, and playing with balloons. The player can dress the baby with new clothes, accessories, and customize playrooms.

By the way, the non-special edition has a strap so you can just put a Wiimote on any dolly and play the Baby and Me game. There is no word on a price as yet, and the initial release will be in Australia.

After all, it gets larger 4.25″ displays on both top and bottom segments compared to the older DSi’s 3.25″, coupled with an extra, bulkier pen with a host of new colors to whet your appetite. Something tells us that Zune lovers might just fall for this since it comes in a similar dark brown color. Out in Japan later this November 21st, it will come with a trio of built-in games, retailing for roughly $220 after conversion which makes it pricier than the Sony PSP-3000 but cheaper than the PSP Go. Do you think the DSi LL will be able to take off in the same manner as its predecessors?

Polk Audio is a well known name when it comes to audio equipment, and this time round the company wants to dip their fingers into the potentially lucrative gaming market. After all, if gamers can splurge on new peripherals that supposedly enhance the overall gaming experience, surely those who have an ear for detail (excuse the pun) will find that the Polk Audio HitMaster gaming speaker is more than capable of bringing Rock Band and Guitar Hero gameplay to a totally new level of depth and detail like never before. We’re assuming you have been using your standard TV speakers all the while though, so do excuse us if the assumption that you’re not running some high end living room entertainment system offends you.

The Polk Audio HitMaster aims to make a difference, and unlike other stage monitor gaming speakers, the HitMaster was specially designed to bring a real-on stage presence to game-play, boasting sonic output that is worthy of the Polk brand. This is made possible thanks to a single-point stereo design which will comprise of two 2.5″ x 5.5″ horns with two 1″ neodymium tweeters surrounding a 6.5″ woofer, all nicely stored within a cabinet that won’t take up too much space in the living room, measuring 14″ x 9.5″ x 8.5″ while tipping the scales at 13 lbs. Single-point stereo is employed by the HitMaster in order to produce a wide, immersive soundfield which makes you feel as though you were jamming out in a live concert.

The PolkAudio HitMaster is able to bellow out loud, clear and detailed audio, pumping out 80 Watts maximum, 60 Watts RMS, with total frequency response rated at 40Hz-20kHz (-10dB). Both line level inputs and outputs are included, making it a snap if the need to “daisy chain” two or more monitors arises. Too bad the HitMaster will miss the frantic holiday shopping season as it will only hit the market sometime early 2010 for $99.99.

This portable gaming system is designed for children ages 6 to 10, and has many cartridges (sold separately) that are both educational and entertaining, generally based on popular tween trends like High School Musical 3 and Hannah Montana.

Like the Leapster2, it is designed to be connected to the computer via USB for more interactivity. For example, kids can go online and trade the points they have earned for modifications in their game worlds. In fact, there was times that it demanded connectivity.

The Didj takes the connectivity further by allowing kids and parents to shape the learning online. So if a kid is having a hard time with certain times tables or certain spelling words, then he or she can have quizzes arranged for this. In short, it is customized learning coupled with entertainment where a child needs it the most.

Kids can also go online to create their own Didji characters in the online Didjerator. Think of it as a like the Mii channel on the Nintendo Wii. The Didj is available in many different colors, and requires 4 AA batteries. You should be able to pick it up at the Leap Frog website for about $69.99.

I had a chance to try out the Leap Frog Leapster a while ago, and I finally got a chance to try out the Leapster2.

Those who might not be familiar with the Leapster should know it is a handheld gaming system with an educational focus, designed for kids ages 4-8. It would appear that very little has changed as far as the layout of the Leapster2 in comparison to the original Leapster.

What makes the Leapster2 different from the original is the ability to plug it in to the computer via USB. From there, a kid can download games, preview titles, and access the online rewards and bonus games that they have earned playing the cartridge games.

Another feature that is different that its predecessor is that it has space for an SD card. You can save programs like drawings or pictures to the cards, and thus print them out or view later, but the slot is in a very awkward place. The SD card slot is actually behind the battery pack, and removing the card after you are done is somewhat difficult.

In short, the online and slot feature is the only difference between the Leapster2 and the original. Oddly enough, Leapster2 games can actually be played on the original Leapster, and vice versa. This is very odd, because most new versions of gaming systems might play old versions of the games, but very rarely does the newest version of games play on older systems. It would be like Playstation3 games playing on the PS2.

You should be able to purchase the Leapster2 from the Leap Frog site for a price of about $59.99.

Considering the popularity of musical video games like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, DJ Hero, and all of their imitators, gamers everywhere are believing that they can play music. Of course, there is more to music than just hitting buttons at the right time, but that isn’t the issue. My point is that if you are going to play the music for a game, then you might as well play it loud.

This is the reason why Altec Lansing has created the Stage-Gig amplified speaker. It can connect with any gaming console, and has a 6.5 inch woofer for 40 watts of ear-splitting sound power. There is a volume knob there to control the extra blast, and, just in case you are wondering, the knob don’t go to 11. Of course, the user has the option of making it even louder because the Stage-Gig has RCA outputs for extra speakers.

The best thing of all is that it is portable. After all, a lot of gamers are often taking their instruments with them on tour (that is, over to a friend’s house). As a result, video game accessory companies are making backpacks and tote bags specifically designed for Rock Band and Guitar Hero. I suppose that gamers that go on the road will be able to travel light with the Stage-Gig’s easy to carry handle.

The Altec Lansing Stage-Gig is planned to hit store shelves in early November for about $99.95.

Although the AX 720 is designed to work with the XBox, PS3, and PC, it certainly would give the gamer the most mileage if used with the first two. The AX720 includes a 720 AMP, and it is designed as a Dolby Digital recorder to place the gamer into a whole new realm of sound.

No software CD was included with the setup, but you will need to set it up with the optical cable if you really want to experience the full effect of the sound with the included AMP.

Not only can you use the AX 720 as gaming headphones, but these comfortably-fitting headphones can be used for all sorts of applications such as an MP3 player, or even an iPhone. The best part is that these headphones have an extra long cable that can “come apart” allowing you to disconnect from your experience without taking the headphones off. The microphone can also be used for voice recordings, and just wearing these things make me feel like a pilot.

All in all, TRITTON makes its gaming headphones a sound experience. You should be able to purchase the TRITTON AX 720 headphones at retails everywhere for about $129.99.

Yes, that is right, it is nothing more than a full scale replica of a Heckler and Koch MP5 sub machine gun made for Wii games.

This gun features a built in Wiimote, Nunchuk, MotionPlus sensor, rechargeable battery, speaker, and even rumble support. This isn’t the first time someone has made a gun-type controller for the Wiimote, or one that could house the Nunchuk. However, I can’t figure out for the life of me where the Wiimote or Nunchuk fits on this apparatus.

I also cannot figure out what games you would play this with. I’ve played a lot of awesome Wii first-person shooters, but most of them are Tomb Raider and Metroid Prime type games, and an MP5 sub machine gun isn’t really used. Perhaps it is time to release Operation Wolf, for the Wii. Yeah, that’s right! Wii Wolf!

I also couldn’t help imagining taking this with you on a plane. Can you imagine the looks of the people in security as this Wii peripheral goes underneath the X-rays? Oh man, be prepared to be taken into “the special room” for quite a while.

As for this Wii peripheral, there is no word of where or when it will be coming out. It does look pretty expensive. Considering the recent price cut of the Wii, it could be more expensive than the console.

The Wii Cyberbike is what its box implies, a stationary bike designed for the Wii. It comes with a game that involves the player biking around the world picking up pollution, or something. Apparently, this world in the game is something not of this world, as the island on the side of the box implies. (Something about that island reminds me of Myst, for some odd reason.)

I’m told that the Wii Cyberbike is also going to work with Wii Mario Kart, but I’m guessing for only one player. Let’s hope this isn’t the player who travels the slowest because he or she has to pedal while his or her competitors have motorized autos.

So in other words, this is a stationary bike that will look like it is actually going somewhere when placed in front of your TV. Not bad. Of course, you could always use the many running games on WiiFit and achieve essentially the same thing, but without the pedals.

The Wii Cyberbike is set to launch in January of next year, but only in Europe. No price point has been set as yet, and there is no word of it coming to the United States.

Just in case you are still clueless, we’re talking about the color known as black – where those who mark November 16 on their calendars can look forward to a new black Wii Remote controller that will be accompanied by a black Wii MotionPlus accessory at a suggested retail price of $49.99. For those who want to complete the experience, a black Nunchuk controller will be going for $19.99 a pop.

FLIPS aims to offer kids regardless of age a fun and creative method of reading their favorite tomes. Working with several of the UK’s leading publishers of children’s books and magazines, soon schoolchildren with a DS can enjoy modern classic titles from critically acclaimed authors such as Cathy Cassidy, Eoin Colfer, Enid Blyton, alongside various writers from the popular boys series, ‘Too Ghoul for School’ on their handheld console. Each FLIPS title will boast multiple books and the first four titles will be released exclusively on Nintendo DS when December 4th rolls around in the UK. Individual FLIPS title will come with six to eight books, and will be sold separately with an expected price tag of ￡24.99. Now parents have one less excuse to prevent their kids from getting a Nintendo DS, eh?

Want to get hold of the latest offering from Sony? It will be one with a gaming slant this time round – the new Sony PSP Go, also known by its model number PSP-N1000. Out in North America a few months after it debuted in Japan, the $249.99 handheld console will target consumers who want to bring their entertainment along with them wherever they go. Currently, there are 16,000 pieces of digital content available for PSP owners to purchase/download over the PlayStation Network, ranging from games to popular TV shows, and this number looks set to grow by leaps and bounds so that the UMD-less PSP Go will have a greater chance of survival. We’re not too sure whether the $249.99 price point will prevent it from selling tons, but we do know there is always a bunch of loyal early adopters who absolutely adore Sony to provide decent sales figures in the beginning. If you already own a Sony PSP, would you fork out money that can pick up a Wii with change to spare instead of the PSP Go?

If you have yet to find that perfect spot for your Wii Sensor Bar, perhaps you just don’t have the right thing holding it secure. Instead of just sticking it to the top or bottom of your TV like every other person on this earth, you can have Darth Vader hold it steady for you. Having Darth Vader to hold it steady will definitely improve your game. How could it not?!

This little statue is said to be sculpture quality and cast in high-density resin. I’m surprised it took this long for something like this to come out. Especially as often as there seems to be very random Star Wars themed accessories. This of course won’t include a Wii Sensor Bar, you’ll have to provide that portion yourself. Right now this isn’t ready just yet, you’ll have to wait until this coming November. You can pre-order the Darth Vader Nintendo Wii Sensor Bar Holder now though, for $49.99 at the Star Wars Shop.

Nintendo follows the footsteps of Sony and Microsoft by slashing the price of its Wii system, where you can now pick it up for $199.99. Of course, taking a look around at online deals might help you save more as selected stores do offer some sort of further rebate or throw in a free game of your choice at that price point. This $50 price cut might not be effective enough to stem the tide of rejuvenated PS3 Slim sales (moving more than a million units within a week of its availability worldwide), but it does help make casual gaming all the more affordable in time for the upcoming holiday season that will see the world start loosening their wallets a little bit more. Each $199.99 purchase of the Nintendo Wii will come with the Wii Remote, Nunchuk and a copy of Wii Sports to get you started right out of the box. Any converts?

There are plenty of Wii games around that require you to swing, well for those baseball themed ones, now you can really swing something. This Louisville Slugger will give a far more realistic aspect to the game when you need to be swinging. Of course this also means among kids that there’s more likely to be some minor injuries. Then again, you don’t really have to buy something like this for the younger ones if you have them. You’re obviously a worthy recipient of such an accessory.

The bat is pretty self explanatory. You just pop in the remote and away it goes. Don’t worry, if you do happen to actually swing and connect with someone’s head, it won’t really hurt them. They might be a touch angry, but the bat is actually made out of foam. That foam will make it much more safe to use with kids around. It’s a pretty cheap addition to go in with your other Wii accessories. You can purchase it for $14.99 from Toys R Us.
