The sound of faith: cross MP3-player

September 24th, 2007 by Andi in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gadget Gift Ideas, Wacky Gadgets

pimp thumb

I’m pretty puzzled here.. this little gadget combines 3 cultures in one, apparently.

First of all, there’s the modern culture: a ‘fashion’ MP3 player, to be worn as a pendant.
Then, there’s the religious side: sombre colors and stiff cross form.
But then, after finding out that it fits an AAA battery inside, I reckoned that it’s about the size of pimpin’ jewelry. The colors aren’t right for that, though.. no gold?

This is not the first cross-shaped MP3-player we’ve stumbled upon. The other one actually had some pretty slick looks. It doesn’t seem to have made it past the concept stage, though.

Read on for the hard specs and the usual engrish-related fun. Of course, there’s a bigger picture inside, too.

Trumpet Harmonica for the musically inclined

September 23rd, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Gadget Gift Ideas

trumpet-harmonica.jpgWe all know about the trumpet and the harmonica as separate musical devices, but what happens when you marry the two? The result is the Trumpet Harmonica that is handmade by the famous Hohner instrument company who have been churning out great sounding harmonicas for the last 150 years.

This full concert octave harmonica faithfully reproduces the original 1907 design, and includes five meticulously crafted brass bells which produce the instruments vibrant sound. A solid pearwood comb forms the core of the harmonica, and it will not swell, even after years of playing, because it is the same wood used in orchestral recorders. Two brass Knittlinger-replica reed plates are affixed to either side of the comb using the traditional nailing method and enclosed by two cover plates, creating 10 double holes and a total of 40 reeds. The brass bells all connect to the air chamber, and blowing o r drawing on one of the holes passes air through the nearest bell, resulting in the classic Hohner vibrato.

Get this potential family heirloom-quality musical instrument that has been tuned to the key of C-major for $119.95. Just make sure the intended recipient is not musically deaf like me.

September 14th, 2007 by Sam in Gadget Gift Ideas, Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

toaster_teapot_64.jpg

As some of you may know by now, I do like gadgets which do more than one thing at once and this fits the bill in more ways than one - not only multi-usage but looks decorative too. This is most definitely on my Christmas list - the Toaster Teapot. It may also (possibly) save on energy as you’ll be using one appliance to do the work of two?

September 11th, 2007 by Sam in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gadget Gift Ideas, Toys

word-scamble-1.jpg
Ok, so you may not have heard of the “Rowd Ascrmbel”, so how about the “Word Scamble” hand held puzzle, the concept being that you unscamble letters for form words. This’ll keep you and your friends busy for quite a time me thinks.
