Scotsman Beer Dispenser Pours Ten Pints in Ten Seconds

The Scotsman Trufill beer dispenser takes a different approach to filling pints, by filling from the bottom up. In doing so, it is able to serve beer at the alarmingly fast rate of ten pints in ten seconds. One would assume that a specialized cups or glasses are required in order to make use of the bottom-up filling method, but if it gets us beer faster, I am all for it.

Get a Free Dell Netbook from Live Guy

November 20th, 2008 by Al in Gadget Competitions, PC Gadgets

I’ve just got my hands on one of the new Dell Netbooks and first impressions are very good. It is designed to be a portable Internet anywhere device, weighing in at a measly 990g and measuring 232×175x30 (that’s about 1/3 of the size of my Mac Book Pro) and includes built-in broadband, there’s a SIM slot behind the battery so no need for a protruding 3G dongle.

If you’re in the UK there are couple of ways you can get you hands on a free Dell Netbook. The first is to sign up for Pay monthly mobile broadband plan, which includes a “free” netbook.

However Vodafone are currently doing a promotion where Live Guy is travelling the UK and each day he has a couple to Netbooks (with included 3G subscription) to give away to people that can find him, his agenda is:

  • Edinburgh Monday 17 November
  • Glasgow Tuesday 18 November
  • Newcastle Wednesday 19 November
  • Liverpool Thursday 20 November
  • Leeds Friday 21 November
  • Manchester Saturday 22 November
  • Birmingham Monday 24 November
  • Cardiff Tuesday 25 November
  • Bristol Wednesday 26 November
  • Reading Thursday 27 November
  • London Friday 28 November

You can track him down via his site, Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, Picasa and if I hear anything I’ll be sure to share it via my Twitter account.

Each day Live Guy has 3 Netbooks to give away in person, but if you can’t make it to any of the specific locations you can track him online for a chance to win. Further info and clues over on the Live Guy site, good luck.

The lazy winner of last week’s coolest gadget is…

November 18th, 2008 by Al in Coolest Gadget of the Week, Gadget Competitions

It was a three gadget race for last week’s coolest gadget crown and laziness won out with the winner being: Robot Legs.

They will reduce the load on your legs by supporting your weight as you walk. You just sit on the unicycle-type seat and the leg frames bend like knees. They run on two motors which are controlled by signals from the sensors inside the shoes. It all sounds great but I must say that when I first saw those pictures, I did wonder how the boys might fare…

I preferred my mates response on Twitter:

robots legs cause I’m lazy.. too lazy to comment as well :) see you sunday

Congrats to Decide What to Buy for again submitting a coolest gadget winner.

Water Slide Simulator

Imagine going to a water park with no lines, slides that last more than a few seconds, and being able to create your own slide before you ride it. Well hopefully you will be able to in the future. If you saw this week’s episode of Prototype This that’s exactly what they ended up creating. Right now the prototype is massive but hopefully with some improvements they can scale it down to be able to fit in backyards across the world. Hopefully that can find a way to scale down the price tag as well. It works by spinning the large doughnut shaped slide with water in it, you get in it and with the help of a projector screen you can see the pov video on a water slide. The slide can rise it’s self up and down and tilt left to right to get a more immersive experience.

Husqvarna’s Solar-Powered Robot will Mow Your Lawn Without You!

It is almost officially winter time, so most people living in the Northern Hemisphere are not mowing their lawns frequently if at all. Even so, this new Husqvarna’s Solar-Powered Robot is so cool I had to share it! Capable of mowing 3/4 acre, the 18 volt, 4 amp Auto Mower 230 runs 90 minutes on a single charge and cuts 1300 square feet per hour. The Auto Mower even returns to its own charging station when its power is running low! That’s one smart, eco-friendly lawn mower!

Last week’s CGOTW prizes go to…

November 11th, 2008 by Al in Coolest Gadget of the Week, Gadget Competitions

The top three in last week’s coolest gadget contest were as different as they come, we had the pointless, the pretty useful but the winner came in the form of fun, the 50′ Snowball Launcher (though it’s actually advertised as 80′ so that’s 30′ more fun).

This toy blaster makes and launches softball-sized snowballs up to 80′, allowing rapid, long-range assaults during neighborhood snowball confrontations. Simply place snow in the forming chamber and close the lid, and it packs three perfectly spherical snowballs. To blast your mark, place one snowball in the muzzle, aim the launcher, and pull back the slingshot mechanism. Because the blaster is powered by elastomers instead of batteries, it provides uninterrupted, fast-action play.

Congrats to S2999 for finding this gadget beauty.

50′ Snowball Launcher

The 50′ Snowball Launcher won’t help you relive the good ol’ days of making snowballs until your hands froze, but this piece of modern winter warfare is kick-ass. Not only it can throw snowballs up to 50 feet, but it can also shape them for you. Let the hostilities begin!

Remote Control VS Tank

The remote control VS Tank has incredible maneuverability so you will always be in control, even if you live on a mountain. There are nine speeds at your disposal which is eight more than I’ve ever had before. The turret can be rotated 330°, necessary to battle it out with other VS Tanks using Airsoft BB pellets which are accurate up to a long-distance 25 metres. If details are important to you, this tank has been precisely constructed to be on scale at exactly 1/24 of the size of it’s real life big brother.

OK, you’ve been able to buy lightsaber toys for a few years now, however what makes this one different is you get to build your own custom lightsaber, just like a jedi does! GPS Underwear

This underwear set certainly boosts the confidence of the person wearing it, in addition to the fact that it has GPS support so that your position (as long as you’re wearing it) can be established at all times just in case you get abducted or worse. I think most (suspicious) husbands will probably get this for their wives with less than altruistic reasons behind the gift.

Last Week’s Contest winners are

November 4th, 2008 by Al in Coolest Gadget of the Week, Gadget Competitions

You still have a chance to win a digital picture frame from us, but last week’s coolest gadget contest is now at a close, so before announcing the pair of $50 Amazon voucher winners what were last week’s coolest gadgets?

In first place with 37% of the votes we have the exceedingly cool Solar Cell Tree, congrats and thanks for the submission Decide What to Buy.

Each of the leaves is actually a solar panel. These 54 solar panels or photovoltaic panels, to be exact, will store energy that can then be used to charge you favourite gadgets.

Pretty different, hey? Each piece is also movable so you can make it even more original by creating your own shapes.
