Sleep Headphones

July 31st, 2008 by AndrewD in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

How do you feel about looking like a sweat band-wearer straight out of the 80s? You’re okay with that? How about if we add in an awkward wire extending out of the forehead area? Don’t worry about looking cool. You’ll be asleep for most of the time. These are the Sleep Headphones, straight from the pages of Etsy.

The Sleep Headphones are made to fit comfortably around your head and ears while you sleep. Wearing a big set of muff headphones just doesn’t do the trick when your trying to pass out. But then again, listening to your significant other’s persistent snoring isn’t doing much for your sleeping habits either. The Sleep Headphones look like they could be worn all night without a hitch.

Lego desk lamp and organizer

July 31st, 2008 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets, Office Gadgets

Sometimes I’m amazed at the sheer amount of Lego inspired gadgets and even furniture that pops up.  Well here’s one more for you and this one comes in a chic smoky white form.  For once, this one won’t actually cost you a small fortune either.  So many vendors take advantage of the fact that Legos have so much geek appeal that no matter the price, someone will buy it.  This light actually has an extra perk thrown in.  It has an extra layer that can be snapped off or on that has little cups to hold your pens and other little things you keep on your desk.

WL-308 Wireless 300N XR Gigabit Gaming Router

July 31st, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

There is a new router in town, and this one caters to the gaming crowd. The WL-308 Wireless 300N XR Gigabit Gaming Router is touted to offer low-latency online gaming, lag-free local network gaming and uninterrupted VoIP use. I’m still rather skeptical of the claims and will believe it only when I’ve used this, but obviously for a company to be this bold in their marketing, there must be some semblance of truth in it (no matter how skewed). Have any of our readers out there tried solutions like this, and do such devices live up to the hype and claims? This Gaming Router is said to be uniquely developed and designed for gamers and hardcore users, merging both innovative design and a supposed ‘evolution’ in networking.

Dream Arcades Octane 120

July 30th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

If you’re a true blue gaming geek, then the Octane 120 arcade cabinet from Dream Arcades will definitely be the platform of choice. It is based upon a “high end gaming PC”, featuring an integrated projector that throws a 10-foot screen for you to enjoy. In addition to that, it will also boast a kegerator that keeps your beer (or other favorite beverages) ice cold at all times. Heck, there are even a couple of taps - one located by the steering wheel with another behind for easy access to your drinks, and a cup holder by the wheel ensures you don’t have to keep on getting up to get your drink. The Octane 120 can play up to 200 licensed PC titles, PS3 racing games, and other Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 games through the included joystick. Audio is provided via a 5.1 surround sound system in the chassis. You’ll need to fork out a whopping $6,995 for this though.

Sprint ships Airave signal booster

July 30th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Mobile Phones

Sprint has begun to ship its Airave signal booster nationwide, enabling folks who are suffering from horrendous Sprint service in their homes will be able to get supposedly better reception by forking out another $99.99 to receive the base station at your doorstep. In addition to that initial investment, you’ll also need to slap another $4.99 monthly to extend your coverage with your current call plan, or $10 if you want to make unlimited calls via Airave with a single Sprint phone. Double that amount to do the same with multiple lines. If call quality is that important to you, I guess this little bit more you’ll need to pony up is worth every penny, but otherwise switch to a better carrier.

Fabrik [re]drive eco-friendly hard drive

July 29th, 2008 by Edwin in Eco Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets

Everything and everyone’s going green these days, making me think that going green is the new black. I suppose we all want to do our part by helping keep the environment clean in a passive manner, hence the deluge of green products being released by manufacturers left and right. Fabrik is one of them, shipping what it touts to be the most eco-friendly hard drive in the world, although there aren’t any official benchmarks or studies done to affirm that self-proclaimed statement. I wouldn’t go up against it though, since the materials it is made from is already much greener compared to your regular hard drive. Known as the [re]drive, it uses bamboo as a design element and comes with low-impact packaging. Internally, you will find a 500GB hard drive for you to store all your precious files.

D-Link goes green with new Wi-Fi routers

July 28th, 2008 by Edwin in Eco Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets

D-Link wants to do their part for the environment with a new range of Wi-Fi routers that are actually smart enough to help you save up to 40% in power usage - this is made possible as the routers are capable of detecting cable length as well as link status, adjusting power accordingly instead of running at full steam all the time as most of the other routers currently do. Heck, the routers can also be programmed to shut down the Wi-Fi radio when it is not in use so that power can be saved. The three Wi-Fi routers to feature D-Link’s Green Ethernet technology are the D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-665, Xtreme N Duo Media Router DIR-855, and the Xtreme N Gaming Router DGL-4500. The routers alone are not new, but they’ve been updated with such green technology, they’re practically reborn.

eDeck allows gambling via Wi-Fi

July 28th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

Want a way to gamble your money (and life) away without really feeling the pinch there and then, only to discover in horror just how much you owe the bank in overdraft a month later? The eDeck is the perfect device for you then - it is connected directly into the Venetian’s gambling empire through Wi-Fi. Perfect for folks who want the privacy of their own rooms instead of spending their time in a noisy, smoke-filled parlor full of pretenders and wannabes. Unfortunately, the eDeck is available only to high-stakes players.

eDeck can be played in the High Limit Slot Salon at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. You can play your choice of slots, blackjack, baccarat, video poker, and either European or American roulette. Coming soon to the eDeck selection of games will be Cantor’s proprietary games including Bonus Roulette, XtraOdds Baccarat and Statjack.

I wonder whether the other casinos in Vegas will take up the eDeck.
