Children’s TV And Video Game Manager

September 5th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, Home Gadgets

I know that life these days are much more comfortable compared to our parents’ and grandparents’ time, and our choice for entertainment is greatly expanded compared to non-electrical means of yore. Kids and teens alike love video games at the moment, and this is one industry that shows no signs of slowing down - yet. How do you make sure your children don’t overdose on video games and TV shows? Simple - with the Children’s TV And Video Game Manager.

This device consistently imposes limits on TV, video game, or computer usage, helping your child learn how to effectively budget time. The device to be monitored plugs into the time manager’s locking outlet. You can create accounts for up to six users, each with its own daily or weekly time allotment, PIN, and “block out” times, where the device can’t be used–for example, from 3:00 p.m. to 5 p.m., to ensure time is set aside for schoolwork. When a user’s time allotment is exhausted, the device sounds a warning so that equipment can be powered off normally. You can also temporarily override the system to add or subtract time from a user’s account, and display usage reports to gain an understanding of your family’s time management aptitude. Settings are accessed easily from the unit’s touchpad.

The Children’s TV And Video Game Manager retails for $79.95.

Sanyo Xacti E2 waterproof camcorder

September 5th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

Remember Sanyo’s waterproof Xacti E1 camcorder that was released not too long ago? This time round, the company has released a second generation model - the Xacti E2. I would assume if you lead a relatively active lifestyle, whether during the winter or summer, the Xacti E2 would be extremely convenient since it is able to function well even when underwater up to 5 feet, with a maximum underwater shelf life of an hour before it sleeps with the fishes. Of course, the Xacti E2 also works great when you go skiing or snowboarding, in addition to other water based stops like snorkeling, surfing and water-skiing.

September 4th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Digital Picture Frame, Electronic Gadgets

Sony’s got its fingers dipped into the whole gamut of consumer electronics, and has just unveiled the wireless Vaio CP1 Wi-Fi photo frame that aims to make it a snap to share your favorite digital moments with family and friends, in addition to receiving news while streaming Internet radio in real time. This is clearly a step above other regular digital photo frames that does nothing but play a slideshow in a loop, while others are able to play MP3 tunes as well, but the Sony Vaio CP1 certainly goes one up on those departments with its built-in wireless connectivity.

LED Paw-Shaped Pillow

September 3rd, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Now here’s a pillow that looks really soft and yet is able to lift your moody self out of the doldrums thanks to a built-in LED. Perfect for folks who want to catch up on their reading before they hit the sack, as the glow is bright enough to illuminate the pages of your tome. Good thing it comes with an On/Off switch as well, allowing you to conserve the batteries in the long run. This reminds me of the LED Heart-shaped Pillow, save for a different form factor. The LED Paw-shaped pillow retails for $25.

September 3rd, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

I am pretty glad that Sony has not given up the fight against the iPod when it comes to portable music, reviving the Walkman brand name by coming up with some pretty funky and functional MP3 players in the past few years. This time round, Sony has released three more Walkman players from the S, E and B series that ought to offer a little bit of something for everyone, no matter what their taste and budget are like. Duo wireless electronic input pen

September 3rd, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Office Gadgets

IFA 2008 is certainly an event to participate if you’re in Europe with a penchant for the latest and greatest in consumer electronics. Penandfree has taken that opportunity to release a new next-generation wireless electronic input pen known as ‘Duo’, enabling users to write both letters and figure on a display of a non-tablet monitor (up to 22″ in size, although I’m not too sure why the size limitation is there). Penandfree claims that their solution is 10 times more affordable than a standard tablet monitor, so it will be interesting to see which organizations will pick up such technology when it is available in Korea at the end of this month.
