USB Rechargeable Clip Torch for night owls
Now here’s yet another USB gadget to keep you enamored with it – at least for a while. The USB Rechargeable Clip Torch ensures you won’t be left in the dark all alone as it boasts an extremely bright LED that lights up the immediate surroundings with ease. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with some sort of battery that stores up energy in case of emergencies, making it pretty useless should there be a blackout in the vicinity. The USB Rechargeable Clip Torch retails for $14 a pop.

Sound Leaf+ Bluetooth headset
Bone conduction is the way to go if you want crystal clear conversations over a Bluetooth headset, and the Sound Leaf+ definitely delivers when it matters. Features include dual microphones (one directional while the other isn’t), and the Sound Leaf+ functions great for those who suffer from hearing disabilities thanks to bone conduction. Unfortunately, information regarding price and availability are still unknown, although it is tipped that the Sound Leaf+ will arrive on Japanese shores soon.

Samsung releases 3rd gen Blu-ray player

Samsung clearly signals its intention to support the Blu-ray camp by introducing the BD-P1400 Blu-ray disc player – the third generation of its kind. The BD-P1400 is no slouch when it comes to performance, boasting full compatibility with 24 movie frames per second playback. This works out great since most movies are filmed at 24 fps, hence the BD-P1400 is capable of playing back movies in their native format resulting in a significant reduction of unwanted artifacts at the same time.

Samsung Electronics develops new RFID reader

Samsung Electronics has just announced its successful development of a new single-chip radio frequency identification (RFID) reader that will be used in mobile devices. These embedded RFID reader chips will function in a way to provide consumers with product or service information retrieved from FRID tags incorporated in different items, including movie posters, clothing and museums as well as tourist exhibits. I suppose this works great if you’re walking throughout a museum, where your PDA (which the museum provides, of course) with this embedded RFID reader will be able to display far more information on a tiny screen, allowing you to browse at your own pace without waiting for the video to loop from the beginning. This also allows the museum to include even more exhibits by maximizing their shelf space.

Buffalo MiniStation now offers 320GB of external storage
As you likely know, I just picked up a new laptop last Friday. It’s got 160GB of storage which should prove to be more than sufficient for my needs. However, should I ever take up a hobby like audio or video recording/editing, I would no doubt need something a bit larger on which to keep my files. With the release of Buffalo’s new MiniStation TurboUSB, I know exactly what I’d choose.
The new drive sports 320GB of storage space, which is, to my knowledge, the largest currently on the market in the 3.5” size. It’s a 5400 RPM drive, so your files will transfer much faster than ones spinning up at 4200 RPM. The best feature has got to be the fact that it only requires the use of a single USB cable for both power and file transfers. There’s nothing worse than plugging a portable drive into the wall.

13-port USB Hub keeps everything connected

I have quite a few USB devices sitting around my office. Sometimes I wonder if everything won’t one day be able to plug into a USB port. What has always baffled me is that many manufacturers make hubs that only give you an extra 3 ports. To me, that’s almost a waste of money. If I’m going to spend my hard-earned cash, I want more than a measly 4-port hub. That’s why I’m stoked about the Synchrotech 13-port USB Hub.
