DOT-it LEDs

August 9th, 2006 by Mike in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

DootitLEDs are pretty sweet. They’re extremely bright, and require very little electricity, which means a very long battery life.

Some places just don’t have proper lighting (cabinets, garages, night) and instead of groping around, just grab one of Sylvania’s DOT-its. The DOT-it is a small, circular light that utilizes three extremely bright white LEDs for brightness.

Get Your Own Virtual Girlfriend (or Boyfriend)

August 8th, 2006 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Virtual GirlfriendThis is like an adult version of Tamagotchi, the aim of the game is to bed your virtual partner (okay the aim is to keep him or her happy (and then get your cyber wicked way)).

Each device comes with 8 different potential mates, so if you get bored of one you can treat her mean in the hope of being dumped so that you can move on to your next conquest. Playing the game sounds pretty simple:

The more satisfied your virtual date becomes, the more points you collect and the longer the relationship lasts. Using the three control buttons you can select between gifts (anything from lingerie to deodorant), compliments (oblique or spectacularly blunt), places to go (the jewellers or to the bingo) or, if you’re feeling lucky, wild passion.

Available from Firebox (due to the risqué language this is not suitable for kids). Thanks to the biggest NY Giants football fan I know for the news.

Power Cop

August 8th, 2006 by Liam in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, Home Automation

Power Cop
Do you have kids that waste too much time playing video games or other electronic time-wasters? If so the Power Cop could be perfect for you. The Power Cop is a programmable power block which allows you to set a maximum amount of usage an electrical device can be used for before it is automatically locked.

The electrical device is plugged into the Power Cop, and the Power Cop is then plugged into the wall. Once the device is plugged into the Power Cop it is locked in and can only be unplugged by one of the two included keys so there’s no way to get a few extra minutes except maybe with a sledgehammer ;).

Virtual Laser Piano

August 4th, 2006 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

This is a similar idea to the very cool Laser Keyboard on Think Geek, but instead of being a qwerty keyboard it’s a musical one.

Mirror Block Clock

August 3rd, 2006 by Al in Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Block lock

If you thought the wood block clock was cool but find wood is not modern enough to your liking then this may be more to your taste, the Mirror Block LED clock.

It uses the same technology and offers the same features (time and programmable messages) as the Wall Mirror Clock we reported on but this one just has that extra cool factor IMO.

It’s currently only available as a special edition so costs £600.00 ouch!

H-Racer Fuel Cell Powered Toy Car

July 28th, 2006 by Randal in Electronic Gadgets, Toys

H-racer and Refueling Station

Affordable mass-produced fuel cells have been on the technological horizon for a while now. In the mid nineties there was talk of how we would all be wearing fuel cells on our belts to keep our cell phones charged. Now a Shanghai company called Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies has introduced a unique miniature fuel cell car and hydrogen refueling station. It isn’t exactly the Tesla Roadster, but it does represent a step forward in fuel cell miniaturization.

FM Radio Binoculars

July 24th, 2006 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, Sport

Binoculars with built in radioWhen I first heard of these I thought what is the point of having an FM radio in a pair of binoculars but for sports fans it’s actually a pretty good idea.

If you’ve ever been to a football match and found your self sitting in the top tier it can be a struggle to make out whose currently got the ball, hence the need for binoculars and if you miss not having the commentary you get on TV you can tune the radio to getting running commentary. Just hope the commentary is in real-time or it could get very confusing.

The FM Radio Binoculars are available from the Hammacher store.
