NOOooo Karaoke for Your iPod - iKaraoke

January 17th, 2007 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, iPod gadgets

Karaoke for Your iPod - iKaraokeI generally walk out of a pub when I see a sign saying “Karaoke Tonight” (though I did participate and embarrass my daughter on holiday by shouting along to “I did it my way” (which seemed kind of appropriate)). Anyway you can now “enjoy” Karaoke with your favourite music player thanks to the the iKaraoke for your iPod.

Other than the fact it encourages Karaoke the iKaraoke is pretty cool. It connects to your iPod in the usual manner and can transmit your warbling voice via FM to the stereo. The clever bit is the removal of the original vocals, it detects which sound waves are the vocals and removes them from the transmission, leaving you to kill the track on your own.

The iKaraoke is available from Firebox for £29.95 and I suppose the one consolation is it restricts the pain to the bedroom.

Digital Photo Frame By King Jim

Digital Photo Frame By King Jim

The most recent digital photo frames have come a long way since they were first introduced in the market like 1 or 2 years ago, and it seems like there is a non-stop production of these kind of products which is good because it gives consumers more options to purchase a cool digi frame.

With that in mind it is time to present the 9th Digital Frame here at CG - in case you missed the previous 8 here they are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

This latest frame comes from Japan, it is called DP01-65-WH and was developed by King Jim. To create a difference from all the other digi frames, the company decided to add sound and therefore added speakers so mp3 files can be played easily, another interesting point is the readjustment of a photo’s size if it is bigger than 1,200 x 1,200 pixels, and last but not least, the other difference from main digital frames is that this one can be placed on the wall.

IntelliScanner Mini helps your organize your life

January 15th, 2007 by Mike in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Software

IntelliScanner Mini
Keeping my E-mail, music, video, and photos organized is pretty easy, it just takes a few minutes of setting up different folders on my hard drive or, in some cases, just opening up iTunes or Gmail. As far as anything non-digital goes, forget it, I couldn’t tell you where half of the stuff I own is. Cataloging your entire wine collection, comic collection, book library, and games isn’t exactly something you want to do by hand. Looking up the ISBN number of 50 different books on Amazon isn’t the ideal way to spend a Saturday. What you could do is use the new IntelliScanner Mini to scan the barcodes of all of your items and have them be indexed automatically.

Apple’s new Airport Extreme Router

January 14th, 2007 by Mike in Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Tech News
Coolest Gadgets

Apple's new AirPort Extreme
Steve Jobs just announced the iPhone, a product pretty much everyone in the entire world knows about due to it being on just about every newspaper, news show, and website within a day or two. But another product, besides the Apple TV, was also put out: the new AirPort Extreme, Apple’s own wireless router. This next generation AirPort uses the 802.11 draft-n standard, which provides up to 2x the range and 5x the speed of 802.11g, the older standard. That’s cool and all, but there’s some more to this router that makes it even cooler.

MFUEL - The Way Chargers Should Be

January 9th, 2007 by Al in CES 2007, Electronic Gadgets

MFuel

This is a simple, exceedingly obvious and about time kind of gadget, the MFUEL series consolidates multiple chargers into one device (well one device with multiple changeable connections as manufactures just like to be different).

red dot design award – part 5

January 3rd, 2007 by Dan in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

bathroom.jpgThis is the fifth part of the series about the “red dot design award” (click here to read part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4). In this post we will cover 3 product designs that won the award under the Productivity category:

Bathroom: this set of bathroom fixtures is really elegant, I was just puzzled about the reason to place a bathroom design under the productivity category… not that I am not productive when I take a nice book to the bathroom but anyway! The bathroom set was created by the Italian Vincenzo Catoio and apparently it was inspired by a lily flower: “The calla lily was the inspiration for the design of these bathroom fixtures, which are intended to create an environment of relaxation. The emphasis is upon the idea of the bathroom as a magical place for the care of the body – a space of soft, enveloping shapes.” Read the rest of this entry »

red dot design award – part 3

December 31st, 2006 by Dan in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones

roem.jpgThis is the third part of the “red dot design award” series (you can read part 1 here and part 2 here). In this part we will cover two winners of the Interaction & Communication category of the award.

ROEM:
this electronic book reader was created using a rollable electronic paper to ensure portability when closed and a comfortable reading when opened. The device was developed by Ben Lai Kin Mun and it uses wireless connections (Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) to download text documents, photos or other documents. Another very innovative feature is the power backup: “ROEM also offers an on the move back-up power charging feature. The screen’s flexibility allows piezoelectric material to be integrated with a variety of polymer, synthetic adhesive, advanced microprocessor, flat size battery, silicon-based integrated circuits and flex circuits, all within the device. This enables it with self-charging capability by converting mechanical stress to electrical power – simply by fanning the screen.” Read the rest of this entry »
