LG introduces hospital-grade HDTV

by Edwin

LG Electronics has been a major player in the hospital TV market for quite a fair number of years already, and their latest effort would continue to cement their place in the industry with the introduction of a new 42″ class hospital-grade HDTV, making it the industry’s largest screen size for patient rooms. I would suppose the next time I am about to go under the knife, I had best ask the nurse in charge on whether my recovery ward has LG’s 42LD6DDH LCD hospital TV mounted somewhere for me to watch.

With 42″ of viewing goodness, it will pave the way for larger-sized text and on-screen menus in order to, as LG put it, “better educate and entertain patients”. Not too sure what kind of educating this will do – perhaps it will play boring slideshows on how fatty foods and the lack of exercise are bad for us? Gah, show us some of the latest blockbusters on this puppy already!

LEGO Darth Vader Torch Light

by Edwin

The second most fearsome person in the universe, or maybe just the galaxy since the Empire did not really bother to expand their reach beyond their current galaxy which was already vast enough – is back in the form of a new LEGO toy, otherwise known as the LEGO Darth Vader Torch Light. It seems that the Dark Lord of the Sith has now been thoroughly humbled, where he is no longer one who injects fear into others, but rather, is a bringer of light.

Yes sir, bright white LEDs will shine forth from his feet so that you will not stumble at night when everything around you remains pitch black, and as for the red lightsabers, well, monsters and thieves will not stand a chance at all. This $29.99 purchase is powered by a quartet of AAA batteries and not the Force, so you might want to take note of that and jump aboard the rechargeable battery bandwagon to maximize your money’s worth.

This is an officially licensed LEGO and Lucasfilm collectible, so don’t worry about being judged as purchasing a bootleg version or something similar.

by Edwin

I must say that air travel has certainly gotten a whole lot more complicated ever since 9/11 came and went. Now you need to put up with smelly feet when folks take off their shoes to go through the scanning machine, not to mention some of us passengers are subject to random swab tests as to whether we are carrying some sort of explosive powder or anthrax, while others even have to step into a full body scanner, where your most intimate bits can be seen somewhat as well.

Bodymetrics however, feels that there is potential in a full body scanner – hence rolling out their new device that relies on PrimeSense technology that delivers a ‘Body Mapping’ platform, where it is touted to be the world’s first full 3D body scanner. Using eight PrimeSense 3D sensors which will map the body’s measurements and shape. Bodymetrics basically changes the way consumers buy clothes via the virtual ‘try on’ of outfits, where it is applicable at both retail stores and online clothing retailers. This enables you to perform a more realistic fit before purchase, and I suppose it makes it easier to purchase clothes for someone else too, right?
