R1 Radio makes me want an analog radio

November 5th, 2009 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

R1-Radio-by-Il-gu-cha-thumb-550x413-27894You can probably see from the photo here how the R1 radio works. It sits on a tabletop like a mouse without a computer, and is controlled by rolling it in different directions.

Yes, rolling it up will turn the volume up, an rolling it down will turn it down. I am going to assume that you turn the radio on by turning it up, just like you would an older radio dial.

If you want to tune the radio into a certain station, just move it left and right. In short, it’s like having an analog radio that allows you to shift the station marker with your hand.

Celio REDFLY Mobile Companion comes with BlackBerry compatibility now

November 4th, 2009 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones

redflyThe REDFLY Mobile Companion from Celio is one gadget that has no internal processor despite looking like some sort of netbook or mini notebook. First released a year ago, the REDFLY Mobile Companion has yet to gain traction worldwide as most people do not see the need to tote around another device that functions as an external display while offering a much larger QWERTY keyboard than you’ll ever get on any smartphones or cellphones. Still, I guess there are enough people around who have purchased the REDFLY Mobile Companion to keep the production lines open, but not all smartphones can play nice with the device, including the all important BlackBerry line. Nice to know that the latest update corrects the situation by being compatible with select BlackBerry smartphones with its BlackBerry software driver now for download.

Timeclock and door lock use facial recognition

November 3rd, 2009 by Mark R in Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets, Office Gadgets

face_timecardI once worked at a place that required me to have an ID card. I had to swipe it just to prove that I had showed up to work, and I couldn’t even get through the front door without it. If I forgot my ID card, it was a big hassle to explain myself to human resources, not to mention the waiting for someone to open the door for me.

This is just one of the reasons why I don’t work for “the man”. I can just see “the man” of the future implementing mandatory Face Detecting Time Attendance System and Access Door Lock (CVJB-G107) at the workplace.

Westek HomeFinder Flashing Screw-In Light Control

November 3rd, 2009 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

homefinder2

Helping people find your home is sometimes a bit obnoxious.  I’ve always had to give a very exact description, because I live in an apartment within a house and I don’t have an apartment number on my door.  Which has always made me worry about what’d happen if emergency officials needed to find my door.  This little screw in light controller would solve that by attracting attention to your house and be great for anyone that is just tired of having to explain things so perfectly.

Tachyon XC Micro

November 2nd, 2009 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Sport

xcmicroThe name Tachyon might not ring a bell for most people, but in reality it has been dealing with durable, extreme helmet cameras for quite some time already. Their latest release would be the Tachyon XC Micro Helmet Cam that offers similar quality features found in the recently released 2010 Tachyon XC back in August this year, although it helps you save space as it will come in a smaller, more compact design. Touted to be the industry’s smallest helmet camera to date, it will boast features including water-proofing without the need for an external case, a patented shockproof design, a wide field of vision, alongside superior light-gathering ability. The XC Micro can also take pride in the fact that it is also the only helmet camera on the market which can accept the entire range of microSDHC cards, allowing you to store up to 32GB of non-stop footage at any one time. Thanks to its condensed size, you can easily take this around with you, making sure your adrenaline-rushing adventures are always caught on camera for posterity.
