Robotic Junkyard Dog

September 22nd, 2008 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

Ever wished you had a pet but do not want to get bogged down by details such as picking up after it, sending it for vaccination shots, as well as the whole works? Well, with the Robotic Junkyard Dog, that dream can now be realized albeit to a certain extent.

Constructed from “scrap,” this mischievous robotic mutt performs a programmable series of up to 80 moves - if he listens, that is. He cocks his head, twitches his ears, wags his muffler tail, sits, stands, and scampers freely–infrared sensors help him to react to movements, avoid obstacles, and detect and avoid drop-offs like stairs. The simple remote directs movements and commands 18 different tricks like “shake hands” and “play dead”. Programmed to “malfunction,” he requires his owner to reset his circuits straight. Whether happy, angry, or crazy, his slot-machine eyes express his moods and desires–food, running wild, or the call of nature. Entering a code on the mutt’s control panel reprograms him as a cat, a junkyard guard dog warning of approaching strangers, or rescues him from a “breakdown.” A pair of rear wheels and forepaws that slide over the floor make him a highly mobile dog, even on carpet. Requires four C, two AA, and three AAA batteries.

You can pick up the Robotic Junkyard Dog for $129.95.

Tantrum Throwing Alarm Clock gives you a reason to get up in the morning

September 22nd, 2008 by Mark R in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Sometimes it is difficult to get up in the morning, and if it wasn’t for my infant son, who cries in the morning at 7:00 A.M, I probably would never get out of bed. It appears that Hammer Schlemmer has found a way to create the technological equivalent of a screaming baby in the morning in the form of an alarm clock.

The Tantrum Throwing Alarm Clock will do exactly what its name entails. All you need to do is set it, and it will begin to tap its arms lightly when it goes off. Apparently, it will be sedated when you pat it on the head, which is the closest thing to a snooze button.

If you give it too many snoozes, the alarm will go into a full tantrum where it will flip open its maw like Mr. Mouth, a classic toy from the seventies. Anger isn’t the only emotion that it feels because if you pet the clock, it will apparently smile and even tap its wrists in appreciation.

High Heels Phone for fashion lovers and divas alike

September 22nd, 2008 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets

Anymore most of us use our cellphone for our phone calls.  Actually, I have a land line hooked up because the overall plan for phone, cable and internet is cheaper than getting just internet and cable.  However, it tends to ring so often with telemarketers that I just have it unplugged.  Plus, everyone calls my cellphone, I’m not sure anyone actually has my home number.  For the most part people are either already as bad as I am or are slowly going to be moving towards that.  Which makes a pink high heel phone horribly ridiculous and pointless on so many levels.

Wi-Fi Watch does the searching for you

September 19th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets

I remember back in the days where Wi-Fi connectivity was something coveted, and you could have that smug look while sitting at Starbucks reading your favorite news online whereas everybody else had to settle for yesterday’s headlines with the newspaper. Since those early days, Wi-Fi hotspots have grown by leaps and bounds, and it can be quite a hassle to whip out your notebook just to find whether there is a hotspot within the vicinity for you to connect to. With the Wi-Fi watch, you don’t have to do that any more since it can search for the nearest Wi-Fi networks at the touch of a button within a 100 meter radius. Other features include a Chronograph, Countdown, Alarm, Hourly Chime, Dual Time and Lap Memory. This shockproof and water resistant (up to 100 meters) Wi-Fi watch will retail for £24.99.
