October 5th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

Just when you thought that Blizzard’s World of Warcraft could not get any more immersive, along comes more good news - TN Games’ 3RD Space Vest is now compatible with World of Warcraft, offering gamers a trio of dimensionally accurate tactile sensory stimuli that are coordinated directly with the game action. You can see it in action at the E For All Expo that is held in Los Angeles from this October 3rd till the 5th.

The driver offers players fantastic contact effects as well as a physical sensory experience linking a new meaning and signature to magic spells and powers, while enhancing the intensity and fun of game play. The 3RD Space Driver Version 2.0 includes the entire functionality for all supported FPS and RPG titles within the single free download. Any 3RD Space Vest works with all supported titles and for those gamers who have already downloaded previous versions of the 3RD Space Driver, these new functions are automatically added with the driver’s auto-update function.

Just in case World of Warcraft is not your thing, you can still duke it out with bruises to your body with over 20 other titles including Bioshock, Blacksite Area 51, Call Of Duty 4, Clive Barker’s Jericho, Crysis, Doom 3, Enemy Territory Quake Wars, Fable, F.E.A.R, Frontlines - Fuel of War, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Halflife 2 - Episode 1, Halflife 2 - Episode 2, Mass Effect, Medal Of Honor Airborne, Prey, Quake 4, TimeShift, Turok, Turning Point - Fall Of Liberty, Unreal Tournament 3; You Are Empty, and World of Warcraft.

Sony still in e-reader game with PRS-700

October 4th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

Sony ain’t giving up the good fight where its digital book reader is concerned, with the PRS-700 being the latest model that will accompany its predecessor, the PRS-505 that didn’t do too shabbily so far. This time round, you will find some much clamored for improvements such as an interactive touch screen display for one of the more intuitive digital reading experience to date. It also won’t weigh you down since it comes in the dimensions of a slimmed down paperback book, with a textured black casing and soft black cover helping you look elegant no matter where you tote it. The PRS-700 tips the scales at just 10 ounces, so you can imagine just how light it is compared to carrying tons of books on a long journey with you.

Even Classroom Globes are getting hi-tech

October 3rd, 2008 by James in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, USB Gadgets

When I was a kid, the Globe was just a spinning sphere you could look at and see how the world was from a “god’s eye view.” But today, they’ve become part map, part encyclopedia, party hitech experience. And kids seem to love it.

Car Chip Pro Engine Performance Monitor

October 2nd, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

Take a look at your car’s dashboard and chances are you won’t be able to garner anything more than the basics, including speed, fuel, odometer, and engine temperature. For those who thrive on numbers, figures and schematics, that’s just not enough, which is where the Car Chip Pro Engine Performance Monitor comes in handy.

Just plug Car Chip Pro into the OBDII port (easily found under the dashboard or steering wheel) and it reads and stores data from your car’s on-board computers, continuously logging driving and engine performance. On-board diagnostics (OBD) data was once available only to professional mechanics. With Car Chip Pro, this same data is now in your hands. The data logger will start collecting data as soon as you start driving. Connect the Car Chip to your computer via USB and download the data.

Too bad the Car Chip Pro Engine Performance Monitor works with Windows platforms only, so that rules out Mac and Linux petrol heads. You can pick up this geeky device for $119.99.

Visionman rolls out Widow gaming PC

October 2nd, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, PC Gadgets

Visionman Computers is a name more often associated with servers, but it does have a say in gaming systems and notebooks as well for a small number of users. This time round, Visionman Computers have released a line new water-cooled gaming systems known as the Widow gaming PC. I suppose Widow here has something to do with the Black Widow spider that is deadly and poisonous, although too much gaming could introduce some poison into your relationship with your spouse, leaving wives to be gaming widows (an upgrade from golf widows, perhaps?). Bad jokes aside, read on after the jump for more skinny on the Widow gaming PC.

Nintendo unveils the DSi

October 2nd, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

At first there was the Nintendo DS which was actually the butt of many jokes when it was announced nearly four years ago, but since then, this portable handheld console from Nintendo has managed to stave away the supposed Game Boy killer known as the Sony PSP with great success, and I must say that the revamped hardware in the form of the DS Lite was what really kick started the whole DS craze all over the world. After all, kids clamored for these DS Lites no matter what their color were, and it did help that there are tons of great, quality titles available for the platform. Let’s not go into the amount of shovelware though since there are more haphazardly programmed titles by developers who are out for a quick buck compared to instant classics, but that’s another story for a different day. Today marks the announcement of a hardware refresh by Nintendo for its 2-year old DS Lite redesign - known as the Nintendo DSi. More on the DSi right after the jump, where you can then make your decision as to whether you want to pick one up or not when available.

Pretty tough criteria to fulfill, but hey – that’s life.
