It is nice to see companies taking more responsibility in keeping the planet clean with each product release without sacrificing on performance, such as LCD monitors and now, cellphones. Sony Ericsson just unveiled a couple of GreenHeart pioneer products that underline the efforts the company is taking when it comes to environmental sustainability, featuring eco-friendly products that won’t compromise on product design and functionality. The two handsets on parade today would be the C901 GreenHeart as pictured as well as the Naite.

The Neuton CE 6 Lawn Mower with rechargeable battery

June 3rd, 2009 by Ally in Eco Gadgets, Garden Gadgets, Home Gadgets

neuton_ce6

Although it would be great to have the robot solar powered mower that takes off and mows your lawn for you, plus the perk of it being eco-friendly.  However, it’s a bit on the expensive side, so it’s not something that most people can afford.  For those on a tighter budget, this battery-powered mower might be the better option.  It has the perk of being quiet due to being an electric mower, but doesn’t have the obnoxious extension cord to deal with.

June 3rd, 2009 by Ally in Eco Gadgets, Home Gadgets

When you decide to be a little more eco-friendly about your exercise habits, it usually just means you toughen up and start jogging outdoors.  That is an ideal solution, but not everyone can or wants to do that, especially when it’s a cold rainy morning.  Well this EcoMill allows for you to workout indoors and still keeps things eco-friendly.  Not only do you get your exercise, but you generate enough electricity to power the treadmill.  Making it so that you don’t have to plug this into the wall and use even more energy.

Freeloader Pro

June 2nd, 2009 by Edwin in Eco Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Solar Powered Gear

freeloader-proWe’ve seen the Freeloader a couple of years ago, but this time round there is a bigger, better model – heck, improvement should come along after two years, right? The Freeloader Pro has returned to offer you portable power for your plethora of gadgets and gizmos, ensuring the frustration of not having enough juice to finish up that phone call will never happen again. All you need to do is to plug in your device’s battery into the Caddy and wait for the sun to do its job, thanks to the two solar panels that are revealed when the Freeloader Pro opens up fully. The Freeloader Pro retails for £69.99 and looks to be an essential device to carry around if you’re thinking of going camping this summer.

Re-Juicer helps recycle old water bottles

June 2nd, 2009 by Edwin in Eco Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

rejuicer

Have plenty of those plastic water bottles lying around your home, and have no idea on what to do with them? Well here’s a novel one – the Re-Juicer that uses the bottoms of old plastic water bottles to function as a juicer just in case you want to have a glass of freshly pressed orange juice at that moment. Not only is it lightweight, it is a snap to clean as well, and you would have done your part in using the same water bottle more than just once before discarding it away to our landfills. The Re-Juicer costs $6.50 a pop.

Dustbot could change Sanitation as we know it

June 1st, 2009 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Eco Gadgets, Robot Gadgets

dustbot_brega_015jpegThis Dustbot robot is the type of concept technology that I live to report on. European scientists have come up with a new way of removing trash in narrow streets with these wheeled guys. Clearly, Disney-Pixar was the inspiration as the Dustbot is essentially a WALL-E without the ecological apocalypse.

This new garbage collection process would start when a consumer with a bag full of trash gives the Dustbot sanitation organization a call or sends a text message. The automated system then sends the nearest Dustbot right to the user’s door, navigated via GPS.

From there, the consumer selects the type of trash he or she is disposing on the touchscreen, and put it in the drawer/compressor that comes from the Dustbot itself. I can only presume that the Dustbot goes somewhere and dumps the trash in an eco-friendly spot after that.

You may notice that the Dustbot is precariously balanced, like a Segway. So what happens when you call up a Dustbot, drop in your garbage, and then it tips over? Talk about awkward.

Sohodecor Decorative Garden Tulip Solar Lights

May 28th, 2009 by Ally in Eco Gadgets, Garden Gadgets, Home Gadgets

led-garden-tulips

It’s not uncommon to find a garden with a few tulips planted here and there.  It is a little odd to find them shining brightly though.  Although a normal tulip does need sunlight, this particular type runs purely off of the sun.  This doesn’t take any pesky tending or watering.  Instead just sit it out in the sun and it will shine brightly as soon as the sun goes down.

Japanese Novel Written on Toilet Paper

May 27th, 2009 by Mark R in Eco Gadgets, Gadget Humor, Wacky Gadgets

drop_toilet_paper-620x496With the many e-book readers that flood the market today, it isn’t hard to believe that we will be a paperless society in the next few decades. Pretty soon, the only paper we will be using regularly is toilet paper.

So I guess it is no surprise that Japanese novelist Koji Suzuki has chosen to print his novel on toilet paper. Actually, I’m not certain whether Mr. Suzuki made the choice, or if the publicity department at his publishing house was really itching for a new marketing idea.

I honestly don’t think that Koji Suzuki needs any fancy gimmick to sell his works. If you never heard of this author, then you might have heard of a 2002 horror movie called The Ring. Yes, he wrote the book that the Gore Verbinski movie is based on. By the way, that movie was a remake of a Japanese movie Ringu.
