The Renewable Energy Experiment Kit

August 23rd, 2009 by Ally in Childrens Gadgets, Eco Gadgets

renewableenergytoy

Renewable energy is something that has become an important part of technology, which makes it important to teach the younger generations about it.  This isn’t one of those kits that only teaches about solar energy, instead it helps children to compare more than one type of of renewable energy.  Allowing for them to see for themselves how well each one works.  This experiment kit would be great for any kid that enjoys science and seeing how things work.

Smart Solar Roto Basket Hook spins your plants

August 23rd, 2009 by Ally in Eco Gadgets, Solar Powered Gear

solar-powered-planter-rotator

My gardening talents have always been somewhat limited, it seems that every year I kill a few less plants, but I’m still definitely not skilled.  I’m sure I’m not the only one that envies the perfectly symmetrical plants that hang at the homes of people that aren’t so bad at gardening.  Well now instead of attempting to remember to rotate your plant, you can have a gizmo to do it for you.  You won’t even have to remember to change the batteries.

Naturmobil Car requires horsepower….literally

August 18th, 2009 by Ally in Automotive Gadgets, Conceptual Gadgets, Eco Gadgets

naturmobil-1

I can’t decide if this horse powered car is moving forward with the times or taking them back to a time before cars.  Yes, you’re in a car and it has wheels, but it’s powered by a literal horse.   Which is not much better than planting yourself in a horsedrawn carriage.  Admittedly this is actually faster than a buggy would be though.  A buggy goes about 5-10 mph, whereas this car concept can go up to 28 mph.  Either way, you’re not exactly going to be flying down the highway.

Lego Wind-Up Dynamo Torch

August 10th, 2009 by Ally in Childrens Gadgets, Eco Gadgets

lego_dynamo

Everyone has had their days where they’d love nothing more than to pick up the toys that they loved so much as a kid and just kill an afternoon.  Which makes me think that this Lego Dynamo Torch will be just as much of a hit among Lego loving adults as it will kids who are currently building various things with Legos.  Even better than it being a Lego themed flashlight is that it’s eco-friendly on top of it.

Halcyon Concept Car: I’ve seen the future, and it’s shaped like this

August 4th, 2009 by Mark R in Automotive Gadgets, Conceptual Gadgets, Eco Gadgets

halycon-concept_pezqg_5965Picture the first cars that were ever assembled, such as the Model T and what not. They look very different than the cars than the cars of today, right? I suppose that automobile design has a certain (for lack of a better word) evolution to it.

So let’s hit the fast forward button to see what the shape of cars will be in the future. I’m not certain what you were thinking, but I never would have come up with this. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that designer Ralph Tayler-Webb’s Halcyon car is ugly, I’m just saying that I wouldn’t have gone with such an indescribable, almost amorphous, shape.

Ink Cartridges turned into lamps

August 3rd, 2009 by Ally in Eco Gadgets, Home Gadgets

ink-cartridge-lamp

Ink cartridges get tossed in the trash plenty, so one Etsy seller decided to reuse those and turn them into a new form of technology.  These small lamps might not be bright enough to read by, but if you are going to spend the money for novelty lights, you might as well pick up ones that are recycled.  That way it’s a little more eco-friendly.  You won’t have to worry about safety concerns either, since the Etsy seller put all of the lamps through extensive testing to make sure that they are completely safe.

The Suntrica SolarStrap

July 30th, 2009 by Ally in Eco Gadgets, Solar Powered Gear

solarstrap

The advantages of having a small solar panel are endless.  I know mine has saved my rear on numerous occasions. However, even though mine is one of the smaller ones out there and it collapses to an even smaller size, it’s still just a little too big.  I don’t like to have a lot of heavy items weighing down my purse and it does exactly that.  Something as small as a luggage tag and just as flexible would make things a lot easier.  Especially for the guys, at least I can stash my clunky solar charger in my purse.  There’s no way a guy could carry it in his pocket.  With this, it could easily slip into a larger sized pocket.

July 30th, 2009 by Edwin in Eco Gadgets, USB Gadgets

boardy

Just when you thought that you’ve seen your fair share of USB flash drives, along comes a couple of Dutch companies, Hebbuzz BV and Pit Reclame, who are rolling out something unheard of till today – an unique, foldable and recyclable paper USB flash drive known as Boardy.

The paper USB flash drive is developed to match the increasing market demand for enviromental friendly products. The production is done in Europe to achive a low enviromental footprint. The paper USB flash drive can be used as an unique and powerful marketing tool. Compared to the traditional drives the paper USB drive has a large full color printable surface, weights only 2 grams and there is no need for additional packaging material. The paper USB flash drive is fully recyclable and available in all current memory capacities.

We wonder what happens when you leave this in your pants pocket and sent it to the laundry by accident. Will it shred into pieces just like regular tissue paper, leaving only the circuitry behind, or is it hardier than expected?
