Drinking Gadgets

We seem to be finding more and more gadgets related to beer and drinking. As drinking is an activity everybody at CG seems to enjoy we thought it was only sensible to have a drinking gadgets section.

Anti-stress milk, from Japan of course

September 27th, 2007 by Andi in Drinking Gadgets, Medical Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Retro Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets
milk_1.jpg

Yet another strange product from Japan. This time, it’s a natural product. Milk. However, it’s not normal milk.

It’s taken from cows only once a week, at the break of dawn. This way, the milk is about 4 times richer in natural melatonin than usual. Melatonin is considered to be a strong stress reliever.

The fact that the milk is bottled at no more than 6 hours after the milking also helps it to retain natural properties.

What’s truly stunning about this milk however is its price: $43 for a 900-milliliter bottle. Quite ’spensive, isn’t it?

The original press release is right after the break.

Snakes and Ladders Drinking Game

September 24th, 2007 by Al in Drinking Gadgets

Snakes and Ladders

This is one version of “Snakes and Ladders” that isn’t suited for kids, along with dodging snakes and climbing ladders you’ve also got to sup the odd shot along the way. The game includes a few twists on the traditional version:

  • Ladders that allow you to jump forward
  • Snakes that push you back several squares
  • Targets that force you to take a shot (like you need a reason to) or even better a double shot. All shot glasses have to be refilled.
  • Targets that allow you to pick a friend that has to take a shot
  • ‘Truth or dare’ challenges… You can imagine what the combination of drinking, good company and a truth or dare challenge may result to…

You can get drunk playing Snakes and Ladders for £9.95, booze not included :( .

Fancy a Bevy, the Beer Opening iPod Case

September 21st, 2007 by Al in Drinking Gadgets, iPod gadgets

iPod Bevy

I don’t normally see the point of buying a tiny iPod and then sticking it in a massive case, but the bevy is different, not only does it protect your iPod Shuffle it can also open bottles of beer.

Have you got an iPod Shuffle? Do you drink beer? Do you use keys? If the answer is yes to all three, then you need the Bevy. This ingenious sliver of sturdy plastic and bottle top-biting metal functions as an iPod Shuffle case, a bottle opener and a keyring. Talk about multi-tasking!

You can have a Bevy for £9.95 (~$20) from Firebox.

Whip up a cuppa over the Internet

September 13th, 2007 by Edwin in DIY Gadgets, Drinking Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Office Gadgets

coffee-machine.jpgCoffee lovers, rejoice! There is now a way for you to conjure a cup of hot joe just the way you like it via an Internet connection, courtesy of some caffeine lovers with a penchant for DIY. This unique coffee making machine is powered by the O2M8 WebBrick controller that is used for automation in houses. Guess there is nothing quite like a little bit of imagination to perk you up during those slow Monday afternoons. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to catch up on any water cooler gossip with this one since you’ll still be sitting all alone by your computer while keying in an order.

Final Fantasy gets canned

September 3rd, 2007 by Edwin in Drinking Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

final-fantasy-vii-potion.jpg

Fanboys, don’t worry. The title doesn’t mean that all Final Fantasy titles will be no more - it simply indicates the commemoration of 10 years since the release of Final Fantasy VII on the Sony Playstation by the release of the vitamin-packed Final Fantasy VII Potion carbonated drink. Each can will come with images of characters from the best selling game, including fan favorites Cloud and Sephiroth. There will be 16 different character cans to choose from, where each of them retails for 191 yen (approximately $1.65) a pop. Only 4.8 million cans will be produced, with the first shipment hitting store shelves on October 23. Are you thirsty for some?

Light up your bottles with these

August 29th, 2007 by Edwin in Conceptual Gadgets, Drinking Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

led-cork.jpgA bottle of booze isn’t that special (other than the sedating effect of its contents), but when you pair it up with some outrageous imagination, you will get an illuminated container filled with alcohol inside. This is made possible with a battery-operated LED that is placed within a cork that sits on top of a bottle, lighting up the beverage of you choice in the process. Nice design, but too bad this is just a concept at this point in time. Would be nice to order drinks based on color sometime down the road…*hic*
