Chugalug Drinks Factory

July 10th, 2008 by Edwin in Drinking Gadgets

Forget about bottle-juggling the next time you host a party at your home. With the Chugalug Drinks Factory, making cocktails will never be the same again.

Making the average glass-twirling bar monkey seem about as wacky as Tim Henman, this bizarre contraption makes creating cocktails a highly amusing experience – and we should know because we’ve made thousandsh shinsh our shamples arrived. The idea is to stick this strange, Wonka-esque collection of translucent pods, vortex funnels and chambers to any flat surface (fridge, filing cabinet, window, boss’s door, you name it) via the included suction cups. Next, pour your drinks into the funnels at the top (booze in one, mixer in the other) and watch in wonder as your concoction gives in to gravity, whooshing around the Chugalug’s various bits and bobs. At the end of its journey your tipple will be waiting in the special ice chamber, perfectly mixed and ready to be dispensed into a glass. Cool!

The Chugalug Drinks Factory should get more fun to use every time, and the more drunk you are, the more interesting things become. Bring this home today for £24.95.

Star Trek Bottle Opener

June 30th, 2008 by Edwin in Drinking Gadgets

It is good to know that just like sex, drinking is a universal value. How else do you explain the Star Trek Experience bar located at Hilton Las Vegas? Not to mention numerous drinking holes found in the Star Wars universe, but we’re here to concentrate on the former series today with a unique bottle opener.

As well as its supreme practicality, the Starship Enterprise Bottle Opener serves as a constant tribute to the most iconic pretend spacecraft in televisual history. Better still it’s embossed with the legendary NCC-1701 registration, so you can be sure you’re opening your bottle of wallop with a Shatner-era vessel. And that’s just as well because judging by his, erm, interesting cover of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Captain Kirk is the only member of Starfleet who likes a drink. Boldly going where no bottle opener has gone before. Make it so!

Well, only true blue Trekkies need to pick this up, as I don’t see the rest of the drinking crowd willing to fork out £12.95 for a ‘mere’ bottle opener when their teeth double up as one just fine.

Golf Driver Kooler Klub Serves Up The Stealth

June 14th, 2008 by AndrewD in Drinking Gadgets, Gadget Gift Ideas, Golf Gadgets, Sport

Let’s be honest with ourselves. Not every golf player is lucky enough to join a fancy country club. The kind where chauffeurs are sent to fetch your every whim. You want a diet soda? You’ve got it! You want some hard lemonade? No problem! The vast majority of us need to play on public courses. The kind where getting to the 18th hole means dodging across the highway which intersects the course.

By the time you get far enough away from the club house, there is just no way you’re going to want to make the hike back and forth between the beverage counter and your hole. Yet most golf courses ban players to bring any outside beverages onto the course. Luckily, The Designated Driver Kooler Klub from After 5 Catalog has us covered.

Punch Mug For Inter-Office Rumbles

June 11th, 2008 by AndrewD in Drinking Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

There is a common misconception about corporate interaction. It’s not always “all business”. Some of the most hardcore mofos I’ve ever known were members of the corporate elite. Want to make a snide comment about their quarterly profits? How about a punch to the jaw instead, fool?!

And while corporate honchos might not walk around with big metal chains and sharpened shanks as their weapon of choice, they certainly find ways to hold their own in the inter-office rumbles. This Punch mug not only delivers the kick of caffeine you so desperately need, but also provides an excellent alternative to brass knuckles for any snotty PR employees.

Solar Powered Drinks Coaster

May 27th, 2008 by Edwin in Drinking Gadgets, Eco Gadgets, Home Gadgets

All coasters are just the same, right? I love those that feature my favorite lager, but this Solar Powered Drinks Coaster will probably usurp that preference .

Placing your drinks glass or bottle onto the solar drinks coasters sets off a mesmerizing sequence of hypnotic colors, which illuminate your glass and drinks bottle and will look fantastic in your garden this summer. Eye-catching colors include red, orange, blue, green, yellow and purple, making these solar color-changing coasters a guaranteed talking point! An integral solar panel that charges up during the day is used to power your solar coasters and an energy efficient color-changing LED produces the vibrant multi-colored effects for up to 6 hours.

It isn’t too cheap though at £14.95 each, which means equipping your whole bar will cost you a small fortune.

Snap Capp

May 26th, 2008 by Mark R in Drinking Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

The Snap Capp is something very special, and yet is so simple. Simply put, the Snap Capp is “a plastic re-closable top designed to snap onto virtually all 12 and 16 ounce aluminum beverage cans”.

I would have to say that this product is a long time coming. After all, the pop-top can, portable and convenient as it is, has a lot of limitations. As soon as the top is open, you cannot close it, and so begins the exposure of your beverage to the elements.

You may have discovered this effect whenever you put a can of a carbonated drink in the fridge. The drink will stay cool, will completely lose all of its fizz. The Snap Capp keep the contents of your can fresh and fizzy with an airtight seal.

The Snap Capp also comes in handy on picnics or other outdoor outings. You may have noticed that when an open can is left out in the open, bees and other bugs sense the sugar and love to fly in. I had a friend who took a sip from her soda, and was stung on the lip. Since she was allergic to bees, she had to be rushed to the hospital. This incident could have been avoided entirely with a Snap Capp.

Earth Day Gadgets: Skullcandy Hydration Backpack

April 22nd, 2008 by Carolyn in Drinking Gadgets, Eco Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

skullcandy.jpgIn my second gadget for Earth Day 2008, this gadget is one that will help your pocketbook. In this time of soaring gas prices and the desire for people to find alternative ways of getting around (biking, walking, etc.) the one need with all these alternative forms of transportation is hydration. With the latest news coming from the Nalgene/BPA controversy, people are confused as to what types of water bottles / hydration packs they should use to not only be eco-conscious, but also be safe.

Skullcandy has a hydration pack that has more than just hydration in mind. The Hydration Backpack has the capability to keep you hydrated and refreshed – but it also syncs with your MP3 player or cell phone. From the website:

ExacTap – The 3 Second Pint

April 20th, 2008 by Al in Drinking Gadgets

ExacTap
I love gadgets that are for the betterment of mankind and this is certainly one of those, ExacTap, a new kind of beer disperser that can pour the perfect pint in under 3 seconds.

ExacTap works with lager, cider, stout and Guinness. Though whether a pint of Guinness poured in 3 seconds tastes nicer than the more traditional 10 minute multi stage Guinness pouring ceromony is up for debate.

The ExacTap is currently by used at Chelsea footie club, Twickenham and the Odyssey arena in Belfast. For further info and videos check out the official product page.
