The Fire Bell Alarm Clock

Not everyone is anxious to leave their warm bed and go off to work or school. For those that aren’t overly excited about waking up, you might need a bit of extra coaxing. Nothing like an alarm that sounds like an old fashioned fire bell to help you greet the day. Then again hopefully you don’t forget that it’s your alarm that makes that sound and not something warning you of a real fire. It would also make a great gift for a relative you know is stubborn about getting out of bed.

Moshi IVR Alarm Clock

Moshi has just released its IVR Alarm Clock that comes with TimeSet technology, and is the first clock in the world that allows you to set not only the time but alarm simply by speaking to it. Commands are initiated by saying, “Hello Moshi” (sounds like a Motorola ad, eh?), where it will respond accordingly with, “Command Please.” Hopefully the Interactive Voice Recognition technology used is sensitive enough to cater for even non-native English speakers. There is a total of 12 Voice Activated Commands to choose from.
The IVR technology utilizes an unique hybrid model of Neural Net and HMM Phonetic Speaker Independent (SI) Recognition software. It allows for large vocabulary recognition which is highly accurate, noise robust and capable of accommodating a wide variety of accents. Without any pre-programming, each Moshi IVR Alarm Clock can recognize every user’s voice right out of the box. Advanced features such as continuous word and phrase spotting work to eliminate the limitations of “discrete word command-and-control,” creating a more natural user interface. The Moshi IVR Alarm Clock is continuously screening conversations, waiting for the user to initiate by saying, “Hello Moshi.”
It will be available for $49.99 a pop, making it one of the more interesting Christmas gift ideas for this year.
Space Invaders Alarm Clock
Those who grew up in smoke-filled, dank arcades will definitely remember the challenge of Space Invaders as you attempt to save the earth from a horde of ever advancing aliens who are absolutely ruthless, stopping at nothing until our home is reduced to mere rubble and ash. Of course, the addictive musical ditty that speeds up as they approach nearer to the earth’s surface makes it all the more exciting, and will probably remain fresh in the minds of many for years to come. Firebox has a brand new retro alarm clock known as the Space Invaders Alarm Clock. This officially licensed piece of merchandise will light up in a bunch of zany colors when it is time to wake up, and you’ll be greeted by a cacophony of familiar sound effects. Choose from black and white colors for £24.95 a pop.
Clogau Gold Timepiece is a unique way of telling time
Considering that most people have accurate clocks on their cellular phones, I’m not certain how many people still wear watches anymore. Most watches usually have the same design with the time-face itself, and then a band around it.
This new concept watch from Clogau Gold is very interesting because the band itself is actually the watch. As you can see from the picture, the watch has certain sections that are interchangeable. With this, you can change them to match whatever it is the user is wearing that night.
As for how the user tells the time, it is most unusual. You see those two lights that are on the wrist on the picture to the right? One of these lights is like the hour hand, and the other is the minute hand. From this, you are able to read the time by reading the Roman Numerals above the lights.

Retro TV Alarm Play Game Show Themes

Here’s another novelty alarm clock to add to your bedside table. If you have a thing for game shows then you’ll love this clock. The clock looks like a retro TV and has a few different ways to make sure you wake up in the morning. It even includes a remote control to shut it off. Which could be dangerous for many heavy sleepers. It’d make it way too easy to lazily open your eyes and flip off the alarm without even thinking about it. Making you late for that job that pays all those obnoxious bills.

Homeloo’s Jumbo Gear Clock

It’s always obnoxious having a wall clock you have to stand excessively close to in orderto read it properly. I have one of those, I can never see the placement of the hands from a distance. Yet, I keep it because I like the overall look of the clock. I imagine a lot of people will pick up this clock for the same reasons, the overall look is fascinating. Even if the watch face is overly difficult to read from a distance. If they had varied the color of the hands a little from its background it would have helped a great deal.

The MK V Shutter Watch

If you’re going to buy a watch anymore it has to be an unusual one that catches your eye to make it worth it. Let’s face it, it’s not really necessary to wear a watch anymore. We have plenty of other gadgets that have fifteen other functions, one of which being to tell the time. Well this MK V watch is definitely eye catching enough to make it an interesting piece to wear on your wrist. The down side is that you have to press a button to open the shutter that covers the watch face. Yet is that any worse really than tapping the screen of your iPhone to check the time?

R2-D2 Whizzwatch is another reason for an Artoo gadget

I don’t know what it is about this little astromech droid, but R2-D2 gets way too much publicity in the gadget world. At CES last January, I got a chance to see Nikko Electronics R2D2 Projector DVD player/projector, as well as the R2D2 Wireless Web Camera.
I suppose there is little point of telling about yet another R2D2 product, but I might as well report on the R2-D2 Whizzwatch. No, I did not misspell wristwatch, because this is a Whizzwatch!
Yes, it is a timepiece with a little model of everyone’s favorite non-protocol droid, and you can use the watch as a remote control to make Artoo wheel all around your desk. By the way, the Artoo unit is quite large, and putting it on your wrist is like wearing a shoe around your neck.
