As any parent can attest to, bringing a child around a shopping complex can be quite a harrying experience, as one has to be extra alert to keep track of the child while wheeling a cart full of groceries and competing with other shoppers for the best buy items that are on sale. In addition to that depressing scenario, statistics show that in 2006 alone, approximately 1.3 million American children will be abducted, get lost, or end up being classified as missing - this means every 40 seconds a child will require some form of help or are in an emergency. The AmberWatch Child Safety alarm and watch is just the device to help you keep tabs on your child and offer some form of protection in case they get approached by strangers who are up to no good.

Having an alarm clock by your bedside is so passe, and times have certainly changed to give you many more options. One of such options include the WidgetStation, a gadget that has been picked to participate in the CES award roll by winning the Design & Engineering Showcase Honors 2007. Other than the fact that it would look extremely nice in any bedroom, what exactly does the WidgetStation do, you ask? Well, the WidgetStation is a multi-functional device that contains many widgets that transfers relevant information to the display based on your preference.
Alarm Clock that takes to the air
November 14th, 2006 by Edwin in Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets
We all know how getting out of bed can be a chore for the less driven personality (that makes up the most of us), and more often than not we view alarm clocks as irritating devices that blare their blasted tune incessantly until we have to physically shut them up. The Flying Alarm Clock has certainly proven it’s mettle as a formidable device that is more than capable of waking up even the most battle hardened sleeper, as it literally takes to the skies (or as far as your ceiling permits), flitting around with the noise of an annoying mosquito in it’s efforts to jolt you out of your slumber.
The OV-Watch Fertility Predictor
November 8th, 2006 by Al in Cool Clocks, Miscellaneous Gadgets
Watches that just tell the time are so boring, so what extra functionality can you add to your wrist watch to make it that much more useful. You guessed it, a fertility meter.
The OV-Watch is a medical device worn on the wrist just like a watch and it tracks fertility with much higher accuracy than traditional methods. Many couples don’t realize that a woman’s window of fertility actually opens 4 days before ovulation. With OV-Watch women can actually track the full 6-day fertility window as opposed to a mere 2 day prediction with traditional methods.
It looks like a digital wristwatch and it has a sensor that tracks the differences in salt levels to accurately predict when you should do “it”.
This fertility gadget could come in real handy for couples planning on trying for a baby (remember practice makes perfect), or for those who run a mile when babies are mentioned (though a pronto condom would be a bit safer in that case).
Arcam Solo Movie (or, the £2000 alarm clock!)
November 4th, 2006 by Marc in Audio/Video Gadgets, Cool Clocks
The AV world is moving fast and sometimes it’s hard for companies to keep up; different audio and video formats make the player you bought last year look dated today. And if you’re taking your home cinema seriously you also need a mighty amplifier the size of a microwave oven to power all those speakers.
Or do you…?
Tell the time and predict the weather simultaneously
October 30th, 2006 by Edwin in Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets
Somehow or other, people are drawn to activities that require some level of prediction such as betting (I personally predicted a 2-1 win over the Italians by the French at this summer’s World Cup but was sorely wrong) and weather reports. Nearly everyone relies on the weather reporter as they plan out the next day’s activities such as leaving the clothes out to dry before heading off to work or playing a round of golf. This is where home gadgets like the Oregon Scientific Weather Forecaster comes in handy, capable of giving you what the news report will minus the irritating advertisements.
Keep kids safe with OnGuard Safety Alert System
October 29th, 2006 by Edwin in Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets
Most of us often detest the amount of control our parents exert over our lives during our younger days, as their lectures are more often than not littered with “do nots” rather than “go ahead”. We think that they are old-fashioned and do not understand why a young person requires the amount of freedom to hang out with one’s friends until the wee hours of the morning. Thankfully, karma has a way of placing us in our parents’ shoes when we ourselves behold a bundle of joy in our arms, promising to take good care of our kid, forming a list of “do nots” in our minds already. This is where the OnGuard Kids Personal Safety Alert watch comes in handy as you cannot be around your kid all the time.
Memento Mori reminds you of the Grim Reaper
October 27th, 2006 by Edwin in Cool Clocks
We might give the Grim Reaper a passing thought throughout our fleeting lives, but often when our time is up, we are not prepared to leave this world. Instead of having listen to constant fire and brimstone messages, why not carry a timepiece that reminds you of your impending doom? The Memento Mori Death Watch was created in 1810 and makes for the perfect timepiece to remind you of how short our lives here on earth are. This is definitely not a watch that you can find at any watch shop, boasting a unique design of a miniature human skull.
