Hotel Phone alarm clock

March 11th, 2008 by Edwin in Cool Clocks, Home Gadgets

hotel-phone-alarm.jpg

Staying at hotels might be fun for some, but it is more often tiring for business folk who are stressed out after a long day of meetings and business deals. In order to wake up on time the next day, most people will settle for the hotel staff to give them a wake up call, and here’s an alarm clock that brings that experience back home. The Hotel Phone Alarm Clock not only jolts you awake at the designated time, but you also have the luxury of snoozing for an extra few minutes by pressing the ‘5′ button. The alarm must be manually set just like any standard alarm clock, and the fact that there is no room service adds to the damper for this $40 clock.

Digital Photo Frame Webcam from WinWin

February 28th, 2008 by Mark R in Cool Clocks, Digital Picture Frame, PC Gadgets, Photography, USB Gadgets

Digital Photo Frame Webcam

Every once in a while, someone makes a great gadget by simply taking a lot of other great gadgets and puts them all together like wet bits of clay. Today’s example would be the Digital Photo Frame Webcam from WinWin Industry, a Hong Kong Company.

As you can see, someone in the WinWin industry has created a win-win situation by combining what looks to be an alarm clock, digital picture frame, and webcam all in one unit.

We’ll start with the webcam. When attached to the PC, your friends and loved ones can see you. As for the 1.5 inch digital frame, that’s so you can see your friends and loved ones, even if they are just still shots.

The photo viewer has 8MB worth of memory, which is capable of storing up to 70 pictures. You can use it to make some slideshows, and the whole thing is detachable from the base so you can carry the viewer around in your pocket if you like. According to the features, it uses two built-in rechargeable batteries for operation.

Music Alarm Clock

February 27th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets

music-alarm-clock.jpg

Waking up to the sounds of a buzzing alarm clock often comes as a shock to my system - I prefer to have a bubbling brook or chirping birds do it gently. The Music Alarm Clock from Brando will be able to rouse you from your slumber with your favorite tunes, featuring audio playback, a digital clock, speaker and an integrated FM radio. 1GB of internal memory ought to be more than enough for you, unless you want to listen to a never-ending alarm before waking up. The Music Alarm Clock retails for $48. I think a standard iPod speaker dock still looks nicer though…

New Raspberry Clocky For Your Sweetheart

January 29th, 2008 by Carolyn in Cool Clocks

clocky1.jpgI love snoozing my alarm in the mornings and getting extra minutes of slumber before I have to get up for the day. My clock is right by the bed and I don’t even have to open my eyes to snooze it or turn it off. But some sadist came up with the Clocky alarm clock.

Clocky is an alarm clock that runs away and hides when you don’t wake up! Clocky gives you one chance to get up like a normal person. But if you try to cheat and stay in bed, Clocky will jump off of your nightstand, alarm sounding, and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide. Luckily, you can turn the feature of Clocky running away off - but then what would be the point of it?

Sure we’ve seen this gadget before - but now there’s more colors to choose from - even a raspberry color for Valentine’s Day (other colors are available)! Although I can think of nothing less romantic than an alarm clock for V. Day. Read the rest of this entry »

Remote control tells time … or is it a watch change channels?

January 19th, 2008 by James in Audio/Video Gadgets, Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets

Remote control watch

Ever find yourself in the position where your favorite TV show comes on in two minutes and you can’t find the remote? I hate that. Now sure, with the advent of digital video players (DVRs) most people are setting their boxes and forgetting it. But you still have to find that damn remote. Then again, if it’s on your wrist you don’t have very far to look, do you?

Whatever Wall Clock for the Chronologically Challenged

January 10th, 2008 by Carolyn in Cool Clocks

p17158a.jpgYou all know people who are slaves to the clock: What time is it? What time does it have to be done by? What time are you supposed to be there? Sometimes, you just have to say “Whatever.”

There’s no need to fall in lockstep with the regimens of the bustling bodies outside: With the “Whatever” clock you can reject their meticulous punctualities and chronological obsessions, and just say that one word that can answer all their questions. A great gift for those people who live live at their own time.

What time is it? “Whatever.”

What time does it have to be done by? “Whatever.”

What time are you supposed to be there? “Whatever.”

The “Whatever” clock can be mounted on any wall and measures 1 1/2″L x 7 1/2″W x 7 1/2″H. Pick one up right now…err…or whenever over at X-treme Geek for $24.95.

Time Cube Clock

December 27th, 2007 by Mark R in Cool Clocks, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Time Cube

Okay, there are clocks, and there are kickin’ cool clocks. Then there is the Time Cube, which could easily be a step up from the kickin’ cool clocks category.

At first glance, you might thing the Time Cube is some time machine from the Victorian era. Kind of like that time machine in that recent Time Machine movie, the one with that guy in Memento. That movie wasn’t all that great, and this Time Cube won’t take you to the past or the future, but it will show you the present time.

The Time Clock starts out as a simple box, but then splits into triangles. The largest triangle shows the hours, the medium one shows minutes, and a quick-moving small triangle for the second hand.

3-in-1 Watch: Exchange unwanted Christmas Gifts for This

December 25th, 2007 by Mark R in Cool Clocks

Stanley Calculator Watch

Ah, now that Christmas is, for the most part, over and you’ve opened all your gifts, you should concentrate on what you are going to exchange the unwanted gifts for.

Might I suggest you satisfy your inner geek and use that disposable income to purchase the 3-in-1 watch that has a ruler, calculator, and oh yeah, there’s a watch too.

To be honest, this is the first watch that I have seen to ever have a ruler attached. Even though it can only do about six inches, sometimes that is all you need. I suppose a tape measure would have been asking too much.

Even though this is the first watch I’ve seen with a ruler, it is of course not the only one with a calculator. I mean, that really is old news! I remember there used to be this one add on television where you could get it for $19.99. Heck, Michael J. Fox wore one in the Back to The Future films, if you look really close.
