KickStarter continues to gain momentum as more and more pledges get fledgling products launched. One of the latest hits takes a creative and modern approach to telling time. The Manifold Clock is on the verge of production. Its unique design is not only artistic, but accurate. It will start a conversation or keep you on time for work.

The Manifold Clock was created by industrial designers wanting to express “that time is both linear and cyclical.” As the minutes and hours tick away you are mesmorized by the flexible and colorful surfaces attached to the hands.

Invest just $45 via KickStarter and, assuming pledge goal is met, you secure a limited edition design.

You know the theme these days – everyone wants to go green. I reviewed the organic Sprout watch in the past, where the only gripe was not having a built-in rechargeable battery, and with the Cadence 4-bit Binary Ecomatic watch, the tables are turned – the watch itself is not organic (although the built quality is far superior), but you virtually do not need to replace the battery as long as the watch works. This is due to the Ecomatic movement that can store enough energy for up to 36 hours without any movement, keeping time as it is. Of course, if you happen to wear the watch for a few hours each day, I am quite sure the amount of kinetic energy generated by your movement would be more than enough to keep the Cadence 4-bit Binary Ecomatic watch moving indefinitely.

As mentioned earlier, the build quality is definitely something to take note – then again, if you are paying somewhere in the region of $215, then do expect it to be able to withstand a fair number of knocks and drops. So far, I have worn the watch for a month and despite normal wear and tear (including playing tug with my two dogs, knocking it against the wall by accident, the usual scratch situations), I must say that the face of this timepiece remained scratch free, which is impressive considering how my other watches (cheaper ones, of course) have come off for the worse within a similar time frame.

Relying on Miyota quartz movement (Miyota being part of Citizen Holdings, a company that has a rich history that dates back to the previous century), the Cadence 4-bit Binary Ecomatic watch will tell the time in – what else, but 4-bit binary markings. Of course, you need not be a mathematical whiz to be able to figure it out since it comes in an analog face, making it easy enough to tell the time at a glance.

As for its two part cotton strap which comes with a stainless steel buckle, you can be sure that this is sturdy enough to last you for several years – so far I have yet to see any fraying on its part, and with the timepiece being water resistant to 5ATM (50 meters), going swimming or on a whitewater rafting adventure with this is definitely not going to be an issue at all. Cadence has offered a two year limited warranty on movement and hands, so you have more or less all your bases covered right from the get go.

I like the minimal packaging that the Cadence 4-bit Binary Ecomatic watch comes in to keep up with the overall green theme, and being a unisex timepiece, you can be sure it looks stylish on anyone’s wrist. Just make sure you take note of the date at the turn of each month, as there is no perpetual date adjusting mechanism here unlike a far more obscenely priced Rolex, so taking just a few seconds each month to make sure your watch’s date is on the right page with the calendar is not too much of a hassle.

Definitely a watch that is worth wearing for everyday use – trust me, this is an investment that you will not regret.

Needless to say, the pretense of my presence in the office means more to him than my productivity, so I left shortly after that to a far more rewarding and fulfilling vocation. I am quite sure if he had the £79.99 Enso Pearl in the office all those years ago, things might have been a little different, and I might have stayed – just for a little while longer, actually. Enso, meaning ‘circle’ in Japanese, is so slim and is a beauty to look at, and it counts down slowly by forming a complete circle around the LCD face.

Perfect for those moments when your mind does not want to look at numbers as those could very well be too distracting, including moments when you are meditating, holding a yoga pose, or making sure you are burning those calories with a few spinning exercises on an exercise bike. The Enso Pearl delivers a precise and clear idea of how much time has passed, including the remaining time without having to work those brains of yours. You can set up to 50 sequential times, and if you opt to exercise with your eyes closed, fret not – the Enso will deliver audio cues to help you out, relying on the gentle chimes of Tibetan or Japanese singing bowls.

This is the Rollerphone, and it is currently a concept watch/telephone, but can do two things which are quite revolutionary.

The first is the pull-out screen which is good for making and taking phone calls. You can see in the image here that it is located on the back of the watch, and the user puts it to their ear to conveniently speak and listen.

As for where the front of the watch, the time is projected on the user’s wrist with a tiny projector. I have an image of that after the jump if you want to see how that works.

I suppose that selling a phone or a watch is difficult, as most features have been done before, but either of the two that I would have described would revolutionize either industry.

Especially the pull-out transparent screen. I’ve heard that technology has been under development by many big electronics companies for quite some time. If so, then I would imagine that the rollout screen has some other uses than just a phone dialer.

Yes, once those rollout display screens get developed, then we will see a lot of technology that will be similar to the Rollerphone. Of course, this is really just a concept, at least for now.

In the place of buttons are finger swipes that I found quite difficult to work. Seriously, I finally figured out that one is for switching of modes and another is for actually switching the numbers of date, time, and time zone. Seriously, it took me a while to figure it out, which is the only bad thing I have to say about the product.

The World Time Sport offers the ability to select from 24 time zones for one display mode, while optionally displaying the second time zone simultaneously. The dual time zone display can also be made to display the time of day, or both the date and time in either big or little numbers.

As for the watch itself, it is a pretty thin 9.3 mm. It also has a curved shape that looks ergonomically created for a wrist unlike other flat-back watches.

You should be able to get the World Time Sport Watch on the Phosphor watch site for about $99.95 in black, white, and orange.

Considering that most of us are using our mobile devices for alarm clocks, Edifier decided to maximize the alarm clock feature with their Tick Tock series.

We have discussed the Tick Tock series before, and I got a chance to try out the Tick Tock Bluetooth. Yes, it looks like an old-fashioned alarm clock, and yes, it has those two bell shaped things on top, but they don’t ring. No, they are two 360 degree omni-directional tweeters, and there is also a front-facing speaker for some “multi-directional rich sound”.

I found that it was very simple to sync the Tick Tock to my Android smartphone, and it is very handy to have an external speaker designed to sit on a nightstand.

If you don’t want to use Bluetooth technology, you can always use the auxiliary input jack and included AV cable for a wired stereo speaker. After all, you will probably be keeping your phone by this Tick Tock clock anyway. By the way, you can also access an FM radio in case you only want to hear the radio just before you go to sleep.

All in all, I would have to say that Edifier’s Tick Tock Bluetooth is an excellent modern-day compliment to the traditional nightstand. You can get it on the Edifier site for about $79.99 in White, Black, and 60′s White. While you are there, you should check out some other models in their Tick Tock collection.
