Ecocoon blocks out noise

by Ally

There are times that it feels like all you really need is just a little quiet.  If only you had it for an hour or two your worries would start to melt away and maybe that headache would subside finally.  Well someone decided to create a gadget that will help block out certain types of noise or all of it altogether.  Sure, it’s probably expensive, but it might be cheaper …

Infectious Lamp with removable lights

by Ally

Instead of leaving these balls of light attached to their tree-like fixture, you can pop them off of the tree.  Then just lay them about the house wherever you could use a little bit of a soft glow to go along with your usual décor.  You can turn all of the squishy balls on or just a couple at a time, just depending on how much light you need.

Wind Up Socket Concept Timer

by Mark R

Here is an interesting concept that allows the user to save energy, the easy way. Think of it as a power strip made up of egg timers. Even if you’re too young to know what an egg timer is, you can still figure out how to use it. Just turn it to the proper setting, and it will tick down until the bell goes off. It’s technology that has been …

Intersection Signaletique gives you signs from above

by Mark R

This concept project is one that I would love to see on any city street at night. The Intersection Signaletique uses special projectors from above to create messages on the streets, and its use is three-fold: advertisement, direction, and decoration. As an advertisement, it could be quite effective. Just imagine walking home, and you are wicked thirsty. Then imagine the Coca-Cola logo under your feet. I don’t know about you, …

Universal Drying Appartus for shoes and more

by Ally

Boot and shoe dryers are definitely convenient, but they only work for your shoes.  It seems like a waste of money to spend your hard earned money on a gadget with only one function.  Instead you need something like this Universal Drying Apparatus.  Instead of just drying just your shoes it can handle other things like your clothing or even your umbrella.  It’s definitely a must have gadget for the …

This is your life and its ending one leaf at a time

by Mark R

Normally I don’t report on anything that STIHL does, as I’m not big on leaf blowers. However, the ad department came up with a very interesting ad campaign: a calendar that peels itself off. You can watch a video of it after the jump, and it works by simply ripping out the book binding thread that mounts the pages together. As you can see, the pages fall like leaves. I’m …

Pixel-bots will rock your world

by Mark R

Curious Displays from Julia Tsao on Vimeo. Okay, I usually like to have a still shot of what I’m reporting, but could only find this video. However, a picture wouldn’t say a thousand words on this, and this video speaks volumes. These are the pixel-bots, which remind me of that supposedly top secret MIT project with the swarming robots that I reported on a while ago. Granted, the individual units …

Corner’s Communication prevents collisions with strangers

by Ally

For some reason strange mishaps tend to happen around me.  I stumble over invisible objects and usually if someone is casually tossing anything, it will definitely come in contact with my head when I’m not looking.  Which means I’m also one of those people that collides with others as I round the corners of buildings.  Thankfully, it actually appears that I’m not the only one.  Especially since someone designed a …
