Password Puppies thrive on words

December 8th, 2006 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Toys

password-puppies.jpgMost dog owners love taking care of their pets because they don’t answer back and are extremely loyal despite putting up with all your bad traits. Unfortunately, not every single one of us are able to own a dog due to limited financial ability as well as the lack of time for pampering our beloved pooch. Thankfully, there is always a digital alternative (isn’t that the case these days) with the Password Puppies from Crazy Gadgets. Retailing for £14.95 a pop, these electronic pets come in a handheld format with five buttons with different functions making up the shape of a paw. Since it is an electronic pet, there is no need to clean up after your mutt or apologize to visitors for chewed up shoes and slippers.

Constructicons Transform! (ok, really sweet RC Construction toys)

December 8th, 2006 by Fred in Childrens Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys, Vehicle Gadgets

Ok, so I can’t prove an actual constructicons link here, but I do know that I’ve found a sweet repository of where to get actual Remote Control Construction toys!

Thanks to the folks over at HobbyTron! They’ve got them and they don’t cost a fortune!

Now why do you ask would I be so crazy about construction toys? Well, my best bud from the age of 5 is an absolute tractor nut! So much so that his current job is fitting GPS systems to them so that they can drive a straight line within 1″ for over a mile!!! Keep in mind that’s a tractor that likely costs as much as your house!
That’s beside the point. What we’re looking at here is a crane truck, that, get this costs just 78.97$US!!! What you say, “surely it doesn’t have many functions”.

First, don’t call me Shirley.

Second, this particular unit has 11 functions all handled by the remote control. Yeah one of those functions is simply the lights. Then again others are,, Crane swivel (360 degrees), Stabilizers, Hook Line, and more. Plus the stardard two channel forward and backwards with steering of course. Now granted, I’m sure this isn’t going to be the best race vehicle in the world, then again who wouldn’t want to see a crane truck race with 10 of these buggers! Of course there are the logisitics of hoping that they make these on different channels (unlikely at best). Well it was worth dreaming.

Picoo Z, Yes!! It is that much fun (and I know where ta get you one!)

December 8th, 2006 by Fred in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gadget Reviews, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

FrontFront2It’s what you’ve been waiting for! A Tiny Helicopter that’s awesome! (and affordable). Big hint here, Read the full review!
Pro’s:
1. It is fun! It is a real kick to fly something inside the house, it’s just what your mom told you never to do, and there you are doing it, and not destroying anything! Wheee!!

2. It is affordable (if you go to the right place). Apparently, the right place is HobbyTron and it’s for the right price 39.00$ and shipping,, really! Everything you need is right there out of the box!! (other places are charging 99$ and more, why?! Go to Hobbytron!)
3. Most of all, IT REALLY WORKS!!! nuff said.

Cons:
1. You will not soon be referred to as T.C.
2. It is easy to “play with” but difficult to “control well”. I HIGHLY advise downloading the Advanced tuning

weight guide from Hobbytron (they’ve done some work for you!) and applying the metal “weights” right away (they’re REALLY Light but do help a bit). Additionally,, PRACTICE!
3. You will still need real helicopter lessons if you want to fly the Pope around.
Seriously though (ok, when am I ever serious) this thing is fun. Setup is as easy as can be.

Peter Potty Toddler Urinal for Potty Training

December 8th, 2006 by Al in Childrens Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Peter Potty Toddler Urinal

We’ve not reported on any urinals for a while, so when we saw this kids only urinal that is described as “fun to use” we just had to share :).

The Peter Potty is the world’s only flushable toddler urinal. It is designed to provide your little guy with a real ‘stand up’ experience that is proven to achieve success 6 months faster. This unit is perfect for introducing your guy to potty training, as well as for toddlers who have mastered the skill but need a ‘mess free’ solution.

With the push of a button, the urinal flushes clean
Just fill reservoir at sink, no plumbing required
No Miss, No Mess, No Splash!
Fun to use!

More info at HGTV, found via Say No To Crack (strange name for a humor site).

Children’s ATM Bank for young savers

December 1st, 2006 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Toys

childrens-atm-bank.jpgAlthough the holidays are just around the corner and we live in a capitalist society that thrives on debt (the U.S. is, after all, the world’s biggest debtor), there is no harm in trying to inculculate the habit of saving that is so important when a child is still young. Most kids these days do not know how hard their parents toil at work and at a business, only to think that money literally grows on trees. The Children’s ATM Bank from Hammacher would be one of the better $39.95 investments that you plonk down in your kid’s life in order to give him/her a sense of achievement when they have managed to save up a certain amount of money while preventing them from blowing it all in a moment of frivolity.

Sumo Robots size each other up

December 1st, 2006 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Robot Gadgets, Toys

dna-robots.jpgRemember the R/C Battling Sumo Wrestlers? Those were cute, with eternal grins plastered all over their mugs. Apparently, robots want in on some sumo fun as well with these R2-D2 lookalikes that go head-to-head (or wheel-to-wheel, depending on how you look at it) in a circular ring. Whoever knocks over his opponent first is a winner, and you are guaranteed to have tons of fun with this great party game (especially more so when you have incorporated some drinking elements inside). Each set is known as the DNA Robot Wars, and a pair will retail for £49.95, making it a budget Christmas gift that will definitely bring a smile on the face of its intended recipient.

The new X4 metal detector, now where’d I bury that gold?

November 28th, 2006 by Fred in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

Sure everybody has the same dream.

Sweeping a beautiful beach filled with scantily clad,,, ok, old folks in Florida with a metal detector to find a spare Rolex, or at least a large amount of change.X4 Metal Detector

Sure you have. Well now you can, and for a change, for a reasonable price! But wait, it gets better!

Rather than swinging the lamest excuse for an all electronic six-iron, you can drive along with a remote controlled metal detector! (it’s not wireless, there’s a 5 foot cord so you do have to follow it like it is a dog and you’re the scooper).
The LiveScience store has the new X4 Detector rover for 29.95$US. What a deal (considering a real detector runs around 300-1000$!

You’ve got to read the writeup on their site, it’s very funny and patronizing all at once! Keep reading for more!

AmberWatch wails to protect kids

November 27th, 2006 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets

amberwatch.jpgAs any parent can attest to, bringing a child around a shopping complex can be quite a harrying experience, as one has to be extra alert to keep track of the child while wheeling a cart full of groceries and competing with other shoppers for the best buy items that are on sale. In addition to that depressing scenario, statistics show that in 2006 alone, approximately 1.3 million American children will be abducted, get lost, or end up being classified as missing - this means every 40 seconds a child will require some form of help or are in an emergency. The AmberWatch Child Safety alarm and watch is just the device to help you keep tabs on your child and offer some form of protection in case they get approached by strangers who are up to no good.
