GiiNii, makers of the AudioBulb, had a new product on display at CES with the BluCan.

The BluCan is a Bluetooth speaker that is a little smaller than a can of soda. What you can’t see in this picture is that one twist will cause it to elongate so it is taller. The BluCan can seamlessly pair with Bluetooth enabled devices, in order to play your music off the headphones and on the go. When it is resting on a flat, solid surface, it becomes a 360 speaker capable of good range.

Of course, there are a lot of speakers that can do that. The BluCan has an integrated speaker, so you can actually use it as a phone when it is wirelessly connected. By the way, the Blucan has controls for play, pause, track forward, track backward, as well as answer, volume, and hang-up. So if your phone is charging across the room, you can still have the power of your speaker.

I’m not certain when the BluCan is due out, but it will be sometime this year. I also don’t have a price either. By the way, GiiNii also announced that the AudioBulb will be in a smaller size, in case you wanted to know.

Some of you may have used those Air Mice in order to do a PowerPoint presentation, and this is another way to control your slides in a less discreet way.

The Genius Ring Presenter allows the user access to Play/Exit and Last/Next Page on the PowerPoint Presentation. This allows for controlling the cursor movement, and for dragging as well as 4-way scrolling. The Ring Presenter also controls the same buttons that your mouse has, including the left, middle, and right buttons.

To make the Genius Ring Presenter even better, it has a laser pointer on it. Yes, with a little bit of smoke, you can make yourself look like a Green Lantern. This is assuming the laser pointer light is green.

Of course, you might look a little bit ridiculous with this big thing on your finger, and the people watching your presentation might be distracted by the flat Ring-pop on your hand. I think I would have to see it on my finger to see what it would look like.

The Genius Ring Presenter uses Bluetooth technology with a USB dongle to connect to the PC. Hopefully, it will make you look like a genius, and the price is about $60.

Considering that most of us are using our mobile devices for alarm clocks, Edifier decided to maximize the alarm clock feature with their Tick Tock series.

We have discussed the Tick Tock series before, and I got a chance to try out the Tick Tock Bluetooth. Yes, it looks like an old-fashioned alarm clock, and yes, it has those two bell shaped things on top, but they don’t ring. No, they are two 360 degree omni-directional tweeters, and there is also a front-facing speaker for some “multi-directional rich sound”.

I found that it was very simple to sync the Tick Tock to my Android smartphone, and it is very handy to have an external speaker designed to sit on a nightstand.

If you don’t want to use Bluetooth technology, you can always use the auxiliary input jack and included AV cable for a wired stereo speaker. After all, you will probably be keeping your phone by this Tick Tock clock anyway. By the way, you can also access an FM radio in case you only want to hear the radio just before you go to sleep.

All in all, I would have to say that Edifier’s Tick Tock Bluetooth is an excellent modern-day compliment to the traditional nightstand. You can get it on the Edifier site for about $79.99 in White, Black, and 60′s White. While you are there, you should check out some other models in their Tick Tock collection.

I just finished reviewing Logitech’s Wireless Boombox for the iPad, and I am grateful that the company was also willing to send me the Mini Boombox that was recently unveiled.

The company says that the Mini Boombox can “unchain your music”, and I will have to agree. It is quite easy to pair with a smartphone, and I was listening to my music without headphones in seconds.

The sound from the thing is pretty amazing for something disproportionate to its size, and my first listen provoked me to turn down the volume right away. The buttons on the top are backlit touch panel which allow them to be used in the dark as well as the light.

My only complaint is that the official site says that you can take it with you, and it shows it being put in the side pocket of a purse. It actually is a few inches thick on either side, so you will need a thick pocket.

As for the battery life, it is good for about 10 hours worth of music. Of course, you might not want to just listen to music, and this particular device is good for taking phone calls or the audio portion of video chats.

You should be able to get the Logitech Mini Boombox for about $99.99 on the official website.

This tiny black box is the SPAR Zephyr 300 Bluetooth speakerphone, and it is designed to be a wireless speaker that is about the size (but not thickness of) a smartphone.

So if you are looking for a way to take the music off a Bluetooth compatible device and make it more…public, then this is one way. Just put a thick rectangle in both pockets.

Yes, Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen. I mean that their numbers are big and there are a lot of them, not that they are cheap. What makes the Zephyr 300 different is that it can also serve as a USB charger. Now you can be listening to tunes without headphones while your cellphone is charging.

I got a chance to try it out for myself, and the sound is quite good. As for the runtime, it is good for 12 hours of play, and I have no idea how long it would last while charging a mobile device. I’m sure that would drain it quite quickly.

As I write this post, the SPAR site appears to be down. I’m guessing that they are gearing up for big sales this holiday. The Zephyr 300 costs about $99.99, and should be available sometime before the middle of the month.

Whenever I write about a product related to a popular science-fiction franchise, I usually have a long list of jokes or puns that I can use.

For example, I could say “Live Long and Prosper” with this Star Trek Bluetooth headset, but that is actually the name of the model that you see here. I will go with the next choice as it is “logical” (think Mr. Spock) that someone would make a Bluetooth headset with a Star Trek logo.

After all, Star Trek is considered by some to be “Geek Mecca”, and this is an actual quote from Wil Wheaton, who played Wesley Crusher on Star Trek, The Next Generation. It just makes sense to put Star Trek on a piece of tech and expect sales from geeks who love both tech and Star Trek.

So how is the Bluetooth headset? It is really going where most Bluetooth headsets have gone before, with its one-button controls, USB recharging, 120 hour standby time, and Bluetooth v2.1+EDR. I got a chance to try it out, and it didn’t really stand out from other Bluetooth headsets that I have tried. This is not a negative review, as I am saying that it can do its job.

As someone who is somewhat a fan of Star Trek, I will have to say that Bluetooth headsets are not a representation of Star Trek, the original series. It was Captain James T. Kirk that introduced us to the world of cell phones with his flip-up communicator. I can only assume that those guys on the Next Generation were using a Bluetooth device that fits on their badges.

But I’m beginning to sound like the Comic-Book Guy from The Simpsons. I could geek out on Star Trek all day, and if you can do the same, feel free to head to the Earloomz site and lay down $30. Just to let you know, that is a Black Friday price, and I don’t know if it will be the same by the time this article posts. By the way, there are two other Star Trek models besides the one that you see here.
