July 14th, 2006 by Liam in Audio/Video Gadgets, USB Gadgets, iPod gadgets

Macally IP-A481 External Li-ion Battery
If you have an iPod, and use it on long trips or will be away from a computer for a while, this External Li-ion battery would probably be very helpful to you. You can plug your iPod into the battery to gain approximately 6-8 hrs of playtime for your iPod, although with the flash-based iPods (nano and shuffle) you may get more extra time than that.

Wireless Bullet Camera

July 13th, 2006 by Liam in Audio/Video Gadgets, Spy Stuff

Wireless Bullet Camera
When I first saw this gadget, I thought it was too good to be true! I find this gadget almost puts the Spy Sunglasses to shame. The Wireless Bullet Camera is, as assumed, a wireless camera, with a highly sensitive microphone as well for audio.

The tiny camera has a built in 2.4 GHz transmitter which almost makes you wonder where they fit all the video and audio hardware! The receiver can receive data from the transmitter up to 25m away, or 50m outdoors! The included receiver comes with all the equipment you need to hook it up to a television or monitor at a safe distance to avoid detection. There are provided adapters for both the camera and the receiver, however the camera can just as easily be powered by a 9V battery.

Slipstreamz Cycling Headphones

July 13th, 2006 by Liam in Audio/Video Gadgets

Slipstreamz
I know that one of the most jolting things that can happen to you on a bike is suddenly hearing a horn blaring from behind you. I usually bike with my ear buds in, however, I find sometimes just the wind makes it hard to hear whether or not you’re about to be flattened like a pancake.

The Slipstreamz is a new gadget that allows you to listen to your music while allowing you to hear the street noise as well as blocking the wind noise! Your ear buds are connected to the ear pieces which are then attached to the straps of your helmet (so yes, it makes you stay safe as well!). They hold the ear buds just far enough out from your ears to let you hear the music, but not shut out the sounds around you. They can also block that annoying noise the wind makes while you’re whizzing down the street, and could act as ear muffs when it’s cold but you just have to be out there.

Bamboo Headphones

July 12th, 2006 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Bamboo HeadphonesIf you enjoy music, like wood, take pride in being different and have money to burn then these headphones may be for you.

This latest lot of Japanese headphones are partly made from bamboo (as in wood), you can get them in light or dark bamboo (in order to match your furniture I presume). I think they must have been made by highly paid skilled pandas as they cost $159 a pair.

Available from Dynamism found on Gadget Candy.

How long for a design concept to go into production?

July 10th, 2006 by Paz in Audio/Video Gadgets

MP3 OLED player

I saw this MP3 player with a built in OLED screen, and immediately thought; “Yup, want one of those!” The problem is it’s only a design concept at the present time. So now I’m asking myself, how long does it take for a brilliant design concept like this to hit the stores as a finished product?
