Sony ICF-SW100S - World Band Receiver

January 19th, 2007 by Tiago in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Sony ICF-SW100S
I don’t know if most people still listen to radio often, I’m not talking about the kind of radio one listens by using the car audio system, what I’m referring to is a normal radio device to be used and listened at home.

Well, let me tell you that I listen to plenty of radio because most of the times I get bored with the same old music I got and want to listen to a human voice interacting with the listeners (me), I prefer the late night shows at 3 and 4 of the morning in which one can send emails (or make phone calls) and believe it or not, after some time you really get to know the radio people working at these extraordinary hours.

But anyway, what I really want to speak about is a Sony radio that features uncommon bands like LW, MW and SW, it is the Sony ICF-SW100S that is considered a World Band Radio - of course it also features the normal FM band. Read the rest of this entry »

Neo N7 GPS navigation system

January 19th, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

n7-neo-gps.jpg
Many people now rely on their GPS navigation system to help them get around unfamiliar territory, making holidays better planned and more fun in the process. The Neo N7 GPS navigation system is different from the rest of its brethren as it uses 3D rendering to help you get a better grasp of your location. Granted, there are certain segments of the population who are extremely poor when it comes to reading maps, which is exactly why a 3D version would greatly help in getting one’s coordinates before moving on to the next point of interest.

Audiophile,, quick, what’s it sound like?!

January 18th, 2007 by Fred in Audio/Video Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

I am a little dumbfounded.music room

Thanks to the joys of Digg, I came across this.

(awkward pause).

Ummm,,, I’m not quite sure where to begin on how this person has:

A LOT of free time

A LOT of extra money burning horrifying holes in their pocket

Seriously good ears (or at least think they do)

One heck of a collection of music.

I am astounded, jealous, and a little confused.

Wow. Follow the jump and DEFINITELY follow the link.

Extra point for identifying all the components and carbon fiber goodies.

Beanie Headphones

January 18th, 2007 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, CES 2007, Wacky Gadgets

2007_01_11beanephones2.jpgTo say I’m not a fan of beanies (them dumb looking woolly hats) is probably putting it a bit mildly (I can look stupid without wearing a hat that fits my head like a condom thank you very much), so when I saw these at CES I was suitably unimpressed, the beanie with built-in headphones.

Thinking about it these beanies do have one distinct advantage, you can’t hear people telling you what a pillock you look :).

If anybody really wants to buy one leave a comment and I’ll try to find the press release that was forced on me.

This Polaroid takes no pictures

January 18th, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets

polaroid-dap.jpgEverybody has heard of the Polaroid brand, but unfortunately the company went bust some time ago and sold off its business. Now, the only valuable thing about Polaroid is the name licensing and branding, but those are some powerful weapons when you think about it. Why do you think iPod after iPod is flying off the shelves despite the presence of other portable media players which offer way more functions and a better interface are available at a cheaper price? Don’t be surprised that this Polaroid does not take any photos, as it is actually a portable media player. We will be taking a look at three models today, namely the MPA-20011, MPA-28216, and the MPA-43315.

Conan iPhone Commercial

January 17th, 2007 by methodshop in CES 2007, Mobile Phones, iPod gadgets

Apparently Steve Jobs was holding back at last week’s Macworld Expo. Apple’s new iPhone can do a lot more than just play music, movie and make phone calls.

As you can see from this video, the research staff at Late Night with Conan O’Brien were able to uncover all of the iPhone’s features including camera, movie player, remote control, electric razor…

If you want to copy this video off of YouTube and save it on your hard drive, then check out this tutorial: Copy Videos Off YouTube.

NOOooo Karaoke for Your iPod - iKaraoke

January 17th, 2007 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, iPod gadgets

Karaoke for Your iPod - iKaraokeI generally walk out of a pub when I see a sign saying “Karaoke Tonight” (though I did participate and embarrass my daughter on holiday by shouting along to “I did it my way” (which seemed kind of appropriate)). Anyway you can now “enjoy” Karaoke with your favourite music player thanks to the the iKaraoke for your iPod.

Other than the fact it encourages Karaoke the iKaraoke is pretty cool. It connects to your iPod in the usual manner and can transmit your warbling voice via FM to the stereo. The clever bit is the removal of the original vocals, it detects which sound waves are the vocals and removes them from the transmission, leaving you to kill the track on your own.

The iKaraoke is available from Firebox for £29.95 and I suppose the one consolation is it restricts the pain to the bedroom.

Wires?! We don’t need no stinking Wires!!! (thanks to Bluetooth)

January 16th, 2007 by Fred in Audio/Video Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, iPod gadgets

The folks at Jabra are being nice to us. They’re trying to make our lives easier.

Fools!!

No, wait,, that’s exactly what we want!

We want gadgets that make our gadgets work better. They’ve really got some now, with more on the way. It’s a pair of headphones that work with your phone.
Buy them here for $89.99

The obviously sweet bit about these headphones (yes, the look is standardized iPod white) is that they receive bluetooth inputs from your bluetooth enabled phone.

Better than that (those those are out there and available now). Is this new unit recently announced that is entirely wireless! (well except for the cord connecting the two earpieces).

So maybe not cordless, how about Cord.

Their new Jabra BT8010 is just what the doctor ordered, read on for more naughty goodness and sweet pics.
