XtremeMac MicroPack Portable iPod Dock
Even with the improved iPods, the battery life definitely has some room for improvement, especially in regards to playing video. Good luck getting through a trip to London from the States on one charge.

solar-speaker.jpgWhy not do your bit in keeping power costs down at your home by incorporating more and more solar-powered products? The new Wireless Amplified Speaker with Solar Charge TX/RX from iGadget harnesses the power of the sun and converts that energy into juice for seven AA rechargeable batteries which in turn will power the speaker. You can choose to use the built-in solar panels which are mounted on top of the speaker to charge those batteries or fall back on the trusty DC mains in case it is too cloudy to generate enough power.

Mercedes with Backseat iMac

September 26th, 2006 by methodshop in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets
Coolest Gadgets

Perhaps there should be a German version of the popular MTV show Pimp My Ride. German car customizer Mattes Interieurtechnik built a Mercedes CLS with an integrated backseat iMac. Mattes even carefully covered the outer edge of the iMac in leather to help it blend in with the cream colored interior.

Where are the cables? Mattes didn’t want any wires to clutter up his masterpiece, so he made sure to get a wireless mouse and Bluetooth keyboard. I wonder if he integrated the iMac into the speaker system so his passengers can be backseat DJs.

You can check out some more pictures here.

House Remote Extender

September 25th, 2006 by Mike in Audio/Video Gadgets

House Remote Extender
It’s pretty straight forward. For most remotes to work, you need line of sight, and although that’s generally enough for your TV, because you’re generally sitting in front of it, people like to have their stereo play while their in other parts of the house. Adjusting the volume from the kitchen when the stereo is in the family room just isn’t going to work.

The reason for this lack of range is because your remote uses infrared, while if it used radio frequency, or RF, the range would be increased dramatically.

The House Remote Extender will transform your old, rangeless infrared remote into a powerful RF remote.

Aquapac
Aquapac are a company who make … umm… plastic bags? Well yes, but these are not your ordinary bag. Aquapac cases are designed to protect your fragile consumer electronics from water (hence the name). If you’re a regular visitor to the beach you’ll appreciate that water and sand can really make a mess of your gadgets! These guys make a range of waterproof bags to cater for different appliances (including phones, cameras and PDA’s) but the one I’m looking at today is the new MP3 player case.

Philips Universal Remote

September 23rd, 2006 by Mike in Audio/Video Gadgets

Philips Universal Remote
The Harmony series of remotes from Logitech are great, but they tend to be a bit pricey. There are some good in between solutions for high quality all in one remotes.

One of those remotes is from Philips. Unlike most “universal” remotes, it isn’t cluttered with random buttons you won’t end up using. Instead, the only buttons on it are the ones you need, there will be no more scanning through the rows of buttons trying to find the one you need.
