Outdoor Theatre Kit

August 18th, 2006 by Mike in Audio/Video Gadgets

Outdoor Theatre KitIf you’ve already got every possible home theatre gizmo in your house, along with leather recliners and a pop corn machine, it’s about time you looked into getting some entertainment for the pool.

The Outdoor Theatre Kit is something you expect to see at a resort on poolside movie night, but why not get it for your own pool? It’s an air-sealed, inflatable screen. The electric air pump is quick: fully inflated in 4-5 minutes.

The projector is a Epson MovieMate 25, which will play DVDs as well as regular TV. All you need is two double A batteries to power the MovieMate. If you ever want to use it indoors, an 80” pull up screen is also included.

What if Microsoft Designed the iPod?

August 18th, 2006 by methodshop in Tech News, iPod gadgets
Coolest Gadgets

Apple definitely has a successful formula when it comes to their elegant product design and marketing. Simple. Uncluttered. Clean… and very un-Microsoft. But what if Microsoft designed the iPod? What would the packaging look like? This video parody explores those possibilities.

What makes this video even more funny is that it was created by Microsoft. Microsoft spokesman Tom Pilla sent an email to iPod Observer saying that his company initiated the creation of the parody video.

“It was an internal-only video clip commissioned by our packaging [team] to humorously highlight the challenges we have faced RE: packaging and to educate marketers here about the pitfalls of packaging/branding… While MS did not release the video, it’s natural to share funny things with friends. So while we didn’t publicly share the video, it was shared with appropriate teams internally. We’re happy to see others enjoy the laugh as well.”

The music in the background might sound familiar. It’s the song “The Breakfast Machine” from the movie Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.

Aigo F029 Digital Watch

August 15th, 2006 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

Aigo
Since all PDAs and cellphones come with some sort of time function, the watch has been relegated to the fashion accessory division, losing its allure as a dignified timepiece. The new Aigo F029 aims to restore a little bit of lustre by introducing quite a long list of modern touches that are bound to get any tech-loving person salivating at the mere mention of its specifications and features. If you are currently in the market for a portable entertainment device of some sort, hold your horses and read more about the Aigo F029.

Belkin iPod Battery Pack

August 15th, 2006 by Mike in iPod gadgets

Nearly everyone has an iPod, and nearly everyone who has it loves it. I know I do. One negative I’ve found is its battery life. It’s poor to say the least.
Belkin iPod Battery Pack
Belkin’s iPod Battery Pack is able to power the 5G (video), 4G, 3G, and Photo iPods for an extra 15 hours of music, or 6 hours of video on the 5G. That, plus the iPod’s battery should be able to get you through those intercontinental plane trips, marathons, hikes, anything really.

The Battery Pack is powered by 4 double A batteries, and connects to the iPod via its dock connector. The battery pack does add some weight to the iPod, but it’s not too cumbersome because the pack is held onto the iPod by suction cups.

iSplash

August 14th, 2006 by Mike in Audio/Video Gadgets, iPod gadgets

Carrying around your iPod without a case in your pocket is likely to cause some damage, taking it places like the beach, with all that sand and water, is iPod suicide.

iSplash

Fortunately there is the iSplash, a water and weather resistant boom box for your iPod. It also works with any other MP3 player/CD player with a mini headphone jack.

Waterproof Gadget Bags

August 14th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Tech News, iPod gadgets

Gadget Waterproof Bags
If you’ve always wanted to be able to play your PSP in the bath but were slightly nervous to do so a solution is at hand, zip lock gadget bags.

The zip lock bags (AKA Aquatalk) come in a variety of sizes to suit many every day gadgets, like PSPs, Nintendo DS flip-top mobile phones etc. As my knowledge of Japanese is on par with my knowledge of quantum physics, I’m not sure if they’re fully waterproof or just splash proof but either way I think I’d still be a bit hesitant to have a bath with a) an electric device and b) a couple of hundred pounds worth of gadget.

More info over at Rakuten, found via Ounae, thanks.
