Sonic Chair

February 2nd, 2007 by Dan in Audio/Video Gadgets, Home Gadgets

sonic_chair1-1.jpgSome people described this product as a surround sound systems that comes with a sitting area integrated. This is not far from the reality. The Sonic Chair includes two ways speakers and a two-channel bass module to assure a very high sound quality. It also features different input jackets so that you will be able to plug your iPod, laptop or video game console.

Despite being apparently “open”, the manufacturer claims that there is a very good sound isolation. Background noises should not disturb the users, just like people outside of the Sonic Chair should hardly listen to the audio coming from the device. Read the rest of this entry »

Hide Your Bedroom Plasma

February 2nd, 2007 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Bedrooom Plasma

If you’re fortunate to have a plasma TV in your bedroom but don’t want it to distract other bedtime activities then this is the high-tech solution, the underbed plasma lift. Then again I’m sure a 50 inch plasma could be an aid to many a bedroom entertainment.

You can probably guess where the plasma is hidden when it’s not needed. It only needs 8″ of underbed clearance and can be ready to watch in under 45 seconds but to really do the system justice you need to watch the video.

The Underbed Lift is made by MK1 Studio, found via Ounae via OhGizmo.

Zune Screen Cracks

February 1st, 2007 by methodshop in Tech News, iPod gadgets
Coolest Gadgets

Here’s an important tip for Microsoft Zune owners: don’t let your Zune charge overnight!

According to Engadget, Microsoft’s customer support center has received a flood of angry phone calls from Zune owners. For some reason if you let your Zune change for an extended period of time the screen will crack. A recent post on Mac Daily News conjectures that the issue is with the lithium ion battery located directly behind the Zune’s screen. When the battery gets too hot it expands and cracks the screen.

You’d think that Microsoft would consider this issue a major design flaw and offer to replace the cracked screens. So far there hasn’t been an official statement from Microsoft yet and unfortunately cracked screens are not currently covered under the Zune’s warranty. So where does that leave Zune owners with busted screens? They can either wait for Microsoft to address this issue or pull out their wallet and have a 3rd party like iPodMods repair their cracked Zune screen.

With all the screen scratching and battery life complaints about the iPod, it’s nice to see the Zune having a little trouble too.

Doctors love the iPod, too

February 1st, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets

ipod-stethoscope.jpg

The mental image that most people have when the word ‘doctor’ flashes across their mind is that of a bespectacled person wearing a long, white uniform along with a stethoscope hanging around the neck. Unfortunately for doctors, there are certain times and situations that do not allow them to perform their duty satisfactorily whenver they are out of the office (read: hospital/clinic) due to the amount of external noise. Thinklabs has conjured out a solution by including one of the most iconic gadgets of our time - the iPod nano.

Time to dance to some Jedi grooves

February 1st, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Conceptual Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

ubergizmo-lightsaber.jpgThis unique lightsaber is supposed to come with 8GB of internal memory to store all the intergalactic musical favorites while you are busy navigating your X-Wing through the Death Star trench. Apparently the presence of an LCD display along the lightsaber’s handle provides all the basic information regarding the song being played at the moment. Navigation is made possible by turning the base of the hilt in the preferred direction. The MP3 Lightsaber definitely takes a different method of controlling your playlist for those seasoned iPod veterans.

Pimped Out John a classy masterpiece

January 25th, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Drinking Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, Home Automation

pimped-out-john.jpg

How many of you have actually played Gears of War on a 20″ LCD TV, sipping on a nice, cold beer (the vital drink that sustains all of us at Coolest Gadgets), listening to our favorite tunes on the iPod? I’m sure that many would have answered in the affirmative, but when you realize that one can do all that in the loo, your jaws are guaranteed to drop, just as mine did when I laid eyes on the Pimped Out John from Roto-Rooter.
