Plantronics has recently introduced the GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset that brings virtual 5.1 surround sound effects to both ears. While purists might argue that it is travesty to attempt virtual 5.1 surround sound effects through a pair of headphones as it won’t sound as good as the real thing, many people are willing to settle for less. Just take a look at the MP3 format - it surely loses out to CD quality, but then again MP3 is a real tour de force that looks set to stay on for many years since it is deemed ‘good enough’ by the masses. Ah well, enough rants - let’s take a look at what the Plantronics
GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset offers.

Zune Bug concept
September 1st, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Conceptual Gadgets
Ashley Payne must either love the Zune so much to come up with the Zune Bug concept, or she does not want to pick up an iPod reference in the process of doing so. This nightlight can be connected into just about any socket, routing music from your Zune straight to whichever room you plug in the Zune Bug. Another interesting aspect of the Zune Bug is its ability to respond according to light levels by turning itself on, alternating its color and brightness to match the music’s frequency. Ah well, doesn’t look as though the Zune will be going one up on the iPod anytime soon, but this is definitely a concept worth looking at.
The Cassette Tape USB Hub manages to slip in four ports
September 1st, 2008 by Ally in Audio/Video Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
A while back there was the odd little DIY project that resulted in a VHS tape being turned into a 4-port USB hub. Well now someone has made a smaller USB hub but with just as old of technology. Sadly I don’t believe this one is created from recycled cassette tapes, but at least it is created to look like one. The only difference is that instead of being stuffed full of tape to record your music on, it comes with filled with four USB ports. Yes, they managed to get all four into an object far smaller than the VHS tape. It also looks like a much cleaner job.

JBL On Stage IIIP
August 31st, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets
JBL took the opportunity to roll out its high-performance loudspeaker docking station at IFA 2008 - the JBL On Stage IIIP. This dock works great with the new iPhone 3G, offering outstanding functionality as well as crisp audio without compromising on design. Judging by JBL’s pedigree in the past, I have full confidence that the On Stage IIIP will not disappoint if you’re happy with its predecessors. Each purchase will come with an IR remote control that makes it a snap to navigate through your iPod/iPhone. Just in case you’re one of the rare few who do not rock on to an iPhone/iPod, the On Stage IIIP comes with a mini stereo jack that is compatible with other devices.

Logitech Squeezebox Boom
August 31st, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets
When it comes to audio, trust Swiss maestros Logitech to know what they’re doing. This time round, the company has decided to unleash the new Squeezebox Boom all-in-one network music player upon us, boasting an integrated amplifier accompanied by high-performance speakers as well as a simplified setup. Logitech aims to simplify the wireless music experience in your home with the Squeezebox Boom, and prides itself in being the CD player of the 21st century, although I thought that the iPod has by far and large already beat Logitech to that moniker for a long time already.
