iLaunch Thunder loves your iPhone

by Edwin

Feel like you are the President of the US with the £79.99 iLaunch Thunder – imagine you hold the “nuclear football” in your hands, and you have already been sent all the relevant launch codes to send a reply to North Korea’s recent nuclear attack on one of your country’s military bases – all it takes is a single press of a button, and a retaliatory missile is sent all the way back to North Asia. Of course, this is nowhere near as serious, and does not endanger a single human life, but it might help you experience a feeling of power albeit momentarily.

No longer do you need to throw bits of paper or rubber at your colleagues to irritate them (or paying tit for tat), but all you need to do is adjust where this sleek missile launcher is supposed to point at, where its air-powered pistons will then get to work, shooting safe, spongy projectiles up to 8 meters away. Of course, the iPhone is not the only device that enables control of the iLaunch Thunder, as the iPod Touch and iPad will get the job done as well. Bluetooth connectivity is what delivers the commands over to the iLaunch Thunder, and sporting a rotating angle of 270 degrees with the ability to tilt up or down through 45 degrees, you have quite the weapon on your desk.

Protect the iPhone 4/4S with Professional Grade Underwater Housing

by Mark R

For those of you who desire to take their iPhone 4/4S underwater to about 100 feet should look into this Professional Grade Underwater Housing.

This FourPro mount allows you to place the iPhone 4/4S in a waterproof housing, and it comes with some handles made of Teak that will give the user the opportunity to have a more stable shot. The design reminds me of the OWL-E iPhone video/audio rig that we reported on a while ago.

This is yet another one of those Kickstarter projects, which means that they need your money to get this gadget up and running. If you want to see more information about it, go to the FourPro Kickstarter page and see a little video.

Gavio’s got a speaker for the iPod Nano called “The Pill”

by Mark R

Some of you might remember when we covered the Kube 2 Player, and how that there is still a market for small MP3 players.

As long as there small MP3 players, there will be a market for small MP3 player speakers. This particular one is known as “The Pill”, and it is from a Singapore company known as Gavio.

There really isn’t much that my Source says about the Pill, other than it is a 5.8 inch speaker system designed for the iPod nano 6th Generation.

by Edwin

Annex Products has announced the rollout of its Quad Lock Case, which is touted to be the ultimate multipurpose mounting system for your precious iPhone. Just what is the Quad Lock Case capable of? For starters, this is touted to be a safe and easy mounting solution which is capable of mounting itself to just about any surface, ensuring that your iPhone remains in a convenient position regardless of either it being in a portrait or landscape mode, letting you view your favorite photos, enjoy movies and read news, hands-free.

The Quad Lock Case Mount comes in an ultra slim form factor, where it is made up of tough polycarbonate plastic in order to help protect your iPhone’s back during everyday use. You know what they say – the simpler something is, the more beautiful it becomes, and that is exactly the case (pun not intended) with the Quad Lock Case Mount. Featuring a built-in holder which enables it to snap securely on to any of the Quad Lock Mounts, you need not worry about your iPhone’s safety any more even though it might seem as though it is hanging precariously from some other place.

Olloclip iPhone Camera Lens

by Edwin

Everyone and their dog knows by now that the iPhone 4S’ built-in camera is one of the best in the business where smartphone cameras are concerned, and the iPhone 4 follows closely behind. Well, if that is the case, you might want to maximize the potential of your iPhone’s camera with this nifty little accessory, the $69.99 Olloclip iPhone Camera Lens. This is no ordinary fisheye lens, where it plays nice with the iPhone 4S and its predecessor, but is also a quick-connect lens system that will comprise of other lenses such as wide-angle and macro lenses, all crammed in a small and convenient package.

The Olloclip is a snap to use – all you need to do is slide it over your iPhone’s rear camera lens, and you’re good to go. The fisheye lens is good enough in capturing a nearly 180 degree field of view, while the wide angle lens is said to double the field of view there and then. Want to get up close and personal with a particular object? Not a problem, as the macro lens lets you focus the iPhone within 12mm-15mm of your subject.

Opena Case, the bottle opener/case for the iPhone 4

by Mark R

We have discussed the Opena Case for the iPhone 4 before, and I have recently had a chance to try one out for myself.

The Opena case is supposedly “the world’s first iPhone 4 case with a slide out bottle opener”. This isn’t the first time that I have tried out a bottle opener that is also an iPhone case. I remember one that I tried out at a CTIA that had an app with it that would do a programmable sound effect when you opened a bottle.

The protective PC/ABS hard case has an integrated slide out stainless steel bottle opener, and I found that it slides in and out quite well. This feature makes it really stand out amongst iPhone 4 cases/bottle openers, and I wonder if there will be more like them in the future.

Behringer iNuke Boom might be loudest iDevice dock yet

by Edwin

I know that I have mentioned this before, that iPod/iPhone/iPad docks are dime a dozen – but just how loud can such devices get? If you are renting an apartment and want to irritate the rest of your owner’s neighbors, or just want to make a plain nuisance of yourself, then you would do well to consider the iNuke Boom from Behringer. The name of this particular iDevice dock is rather obvious, it will deliver audio levels and quality that, in street parlance, “is the bomb.” The big question is this, just how much more explosive can it get?

The name Behringer might give you a clue, being an award-winning innovator of affordable professional audio and music equipment. In order to celebrate the launch of 50 new consumer audio products, Behringer’s iNuke Boom is proud to be the loudest iPad, iPod and iPhone dock that anyone and everyone would have ever come across at CES next year in Las Vegas – which incidentally, is only a month away.
