Research has shown that most men have shorter lives than women due to the type of lifestyles they lead – including late nights of boozing with their mates, being in a high-pressured job, undergoing plenty of stress as he wonders how is he going to pull his family through a crisis, and perhaps even engaging in crazy stunts and sports for that bit of adrenaline rush. Well, most men too would be involved with the use of power tools, and is tasked with mowing the lawn with NASCAR race attendance as his reward. Some of those activities mentioned do involve being exposed to high levels of noise at any one time which if left unchecked, could lead to permanent hearing loss many years down the road. With Christmas coming up in slightly more than a month, why not give dad the protection he needs with the NoiseBuster Active Noise-Canceling Hearing Protector? This professional-grade, high-performance equipment will merge a passive earmuff with active noise-canceling electronics to deliver overall noise cancellation performance that is unmatched by any other hearing protector.

Apart from its superior noise cancellation, the NoiseBuster is full well capable of delivering awesome audio, essentially making this a great 2-in-1 audio choice – to prevent you from running a higher risk of hearing loss, while enjoying your favorite tunes in greater detail as it blocks external noise. Not something we would wear when going jogging or cycling though, as those activities require you to hear what’s going on outside just in case you end up as roadkill and a statistic. The NoiseBuster allows one to listen to music or the ball game without overamplifying or distorting the signal in order to compensate for the noise.

The NoiseBuster PA4000 is currently priced at $149, and if you happen to fork out that kind of money for it, you will be pleased to know it will come with a hard carry case, an audio cable and an AA battery to get you started right out of the box. All web purchases will automatically get a 10% discount, so what are you waiting for?

If you have a thing for audio gadgets that make you feel elite and special, now you can own a pair of limited edition Audio Technica headphones. Even if no one knows that these are limited edition headphones, the shiny earpieces will attract plenty of attention. Then of course when they’re pulled in by all that shiny, you can explain to them that your headphones are incredibly awesome for many reasons.

These headphones have a gold and aluminum housing and 3.5mm gold plated connectors. Yes, you would get to say that parts of your headphones are gold plated. Of course that also means you’re going to have to pay quite a bit to get your hands on this very exclusive pair of headphones. They are still available as of now, but they’ll cost you £140 or about $235 from Paul Smith.

It almost seems like manufacturers are getting desperate to sell their kitchen scales. Lately there have been many kitchen scales that try to have a twist to make them more appealing to the general public. Well if you use yours a lot, this one will let you listen to you music. At least with this you can combine your iPod dock with a kitchen scale instead of having two different gadgets cluttering up your countertop.

This Rihanna model isn’t released just yet, but is soon to be sold. Apparently this kitchen scale is supposed to be the absolute first that does include an iPod dock directly on it. The dock and scale combo are predicted to release early next year. On the device itself the dock is directly above the 42.5 x 20 mm LCD display. Below the safety glass surface is the 2-watt speaker. When it is released it’ll cost you €70 or about $150 through ADE Germany.

Strapya’s products at best could be described as eccentric most of the time. This product is definitely odd, but it would actually be useful. It’s so thin you could easily carry it around or lose it for that matter. Plus it’s not only an MP3 player that’ll play all of your music through your headphones, it also has a built-in speaker to play your music out loud as well. Sure, it’s not going to be the highest quality of gadget out there, but it at least plays your music.

The Music Card MP3 Player has a few different versions, like the cassette tape look, the credit card and the camera version. It has a 2.5mm headphone jack and comes with a pair of earphones that will fit the device. If your headphones won’t fit the 2.5mm jack, it also ships with a 3.5mm adapter. You can plug it into the USB port of your PC or Mac to upload MP3 or WMA files. You can hold up to 2GB of music on the internal memory. You can purchase it through Strapya for $26.40.

When Apple announced video capability in the iPod Nano and a video camcorder in the iPhone 3Gs, Cisco saw a dramatic increase in YouTube video uploads. And as such, they saw the handwriting on the wall. Sure, the Flip has the edge with HD, but to have an all in one solution with the iPhone has forced Cisco, the new owners of Flip Video, to get working on a response. And to that end, they’ve announced that the next model of the phenomenally successful Flip Video Pocket Camcorders will come with built in Wi-Fi. But that’s not all.

In addition to being able to transfer video wirelessly, new Flip models will also have double the onboard memory (although they should just bite the bullet and put in an SD card already) a larger screen which will slide up to reveal control buttons, and have the capability to not only upload to YouTube, but also direct Facebook uploads via the wireless connection.

The first model to get the Wi-Fi overhaul will probably be the MinoHD line and rumor has it we’ll see an actual mockup of it at CES this January.

You know, I rather like a feature war between Cisco and Apple brewing. It only means that the consumer will be the ultimate winners. Who knows, maybe we’ll see a new iPhone with HD capability …

I guess some concept designer just had to put an MP3 player in clothes, and why not the pants? After all, the words “dance” and “pants” rhyme.

Say, is that an MP3 Player in your pants, or…all right, I think you all know where that one was going. I’m not liking where the Dancepants is going.

You see, the Dancepants isn’t just an MP3 Player that is designed to fit in the pants. That would probably be easy. You would just find a convenient place to stitch in the apparatus, and just make certain that the user can charge it and download tunes easily.

The Dancepants are not like that. You see, it is powered by kinetic energy. So if you like to listen to music while you are jogging, then you had better keep jogging, or your music will die. That, or you will. Heh heh heh.

Seriously, the Dancepants are a great idea. After all, kinetic energy is just the energy of motion, and we need to channel all of the excess energy in motion if we really want to save energy. After all, our highly technological society always needs energy to power our machines, and we also need to exercise more. Why not combine the two?

How many of you take your portable music listening experience seriously? As in, the moment you unpack your newly purchased portable media player, you chuck away the pair of headphones or earbuds packed within and put on a jacket, ready to do some serious shopping in order to garner the best listening experience possible? Well, Sleek Audio understands how you feel about that, and has released their highly anticipated SA1 wireless compatible earphones which offers above average audio quality without breaking the bank, guaranteed to put a smile on your face in the process. The SA1 offers wireless flexibility, tuning technology and stunning performance in a single package, so read on to find out more about it.

Those who are familiar with Sleek Audio will notice that the SA1 does draw some inspiration from the company’s first product that hit the market in 2008, the groundbreaking SA6 earphone, which was touted to be the world’s first acoustically customizable and wireless compatible earphone. In fact, that pair boasted performance and innovation that helped it pick up the Popular Science “Best of What’s New” award for 2008. As for the SA1, it bosats a wooden body that has the similar patented cable design as found in the revolutionary SA6 as well as the CT6, and is compatible with Sleek Audio’s Kleer wireless system.

According to Jason Krywko, COO of Sleek Audio “Our number one priority is developing amazing sounding earphones that offer more to music lovers in terms of performance, style and comfort. The SA1 does just that, and was developed specifically to allow more people to enjoy our award winning products than ever before.”

Audio-wise, the SA1 utilizes a first-of-its-kind, custom tuned 6mm dynamic driver for surprising bass impact, stunning clarity and balanced sound signatures. It also forms part of the VQ system line, where listeners are allowed to adjust the frequency response of the earphone with treble tuning options. Depending on your preference, the SA1 can function as a wireless earphone or a wired one.

Those of you that enjoy carrying your precious pets around with you in public, instead of letting them walk, will enjoy this bag. Especially if you’re a person that’s highly attached to your music. It’ll let your pooch jump up and down within the bag to your favorite song. If that’s not enough to make you carry the bag, it might help things along that the bag was given to last year’s Oscar attendees.

You can hook the bag up to your iPod, a plain old MP3 player or even your laptop. Hopefully your dog won’t manage to chew through any cords though. It would also be bad if your puppy decided to pee within the bag too, considering the hefty price tag. Oddly they don’t mention if they’ve tried to protect the speakers from moisture of any kind. At $175 a piece, it’d be nice to know this pet carrier is puppy proof. You can purchase the bag through Anonymous Venice.

Many car manufacturers have started to include USB plugs in their car stereo systems to accomodate connecting MP3 players. That’s a cool thing, but the driver still has to deal with the quandry of where to put the iPod? Check out this new car stereo system which not only lets users sync their iPods for playing iTunes, but also has a pull down iPod Dock to store and charge it at the same time. Very cool.

The Dual XML8110 Mechless Mobile Audio system looks like a standard car stereo system at first blush, with digital LED display and easy to use buttons. But flip down the face and it becomes a full fledged iPod/iPhone dock, completely with not only navigation and volume controls, but also the ability to make hands free phone calls at the touch of a button with an upcoming iPhone application.

The stereo also has built in FM Radio (what, no AM love? what up with that), equalizer presets and even an AUX IN for connecting other devices. And even though it doesn’t have a CD or cassette player built in – that’s really the point here. The XML8110 Mechless Mobile Audio system is moving forward, not backward and this stereo may be ideal for the wireless crowd. Only thing really missing is wireless iTunes purchase capability.

And the killer thing about it is it’s price point. Under $100!

The SecureShot is a way for you to watch others, and it has an atomic clock.

I suppose you could call it a Nanny-cam, just like the one seen in Meet the Parents and The Nanny Diaries. Unlike the cameras put on stuffed animals, this one looks like an ordinary clock.

Assuming you think that an atomic clock is ordinary. Yes, this is one of those clocks that will always be accurate, and if the batteries run out, the clock will be back on time when they get replaced. Looks like it can also do the temperature as well.

As for the camera itself, it can sense body heat from 30 feet away, and then starts to film. It can shoot 20 hours of 640 x 480 video onto an inserted SD memory card. Hopefully, that is enough time to get the footage that you need. By the way, it can run for a year on the included Li-ion battery.

So for all you control freaks who need security camera footage with an always accurate timestamp should head over to the Marquis Security Cameras site and lay down $649. Hey, I didn’t say that this type of control would be cheap.

Staying warm while listening to your music isn’t always the easiest thing. It is entirely possible to wear a hat over the top of your ear or headphones. However, it’s not exactly comfortable and in some cases it’s far from making you look good. Well if these beanies are more your style, you could get the best of both worlds. You’ll be plenty warm and still be able to comfortably listen to your favorite tunes.

The Sound Disk Beanie will even work with your Blackberry or iPhone. Just slip on the hat and Aerial 7 claims that you won’t even notice that you’re wearing headphones. Well besides that you’ll be able to hear your music. For those of you that aren’t fond of the knitted look, there are also beanies that come in plain black, grey and brown. You can purchase your own for $59.99 through Aerial 7.

Finding affordable gifts for someone who is more into technology than anything else can sometimes seem to be a trying task. Luckily though there are some retailers happy to sell off speakers to go with your precious iPod or iPhone. With this speaker it’ll play your music, while also giving a spot to rest your iPod and leave it on display. You could easily see and flip through music while it’s hooked up to the speaker.

It’s not really something you carry everywhere with you. It would be nice to have sitting on a desk of some kind though. For students with cramped living conditions it would work out great. The device is meant for the iPhone or any of the iPods besides the Shuffle. It will hook up to any MP3 player though. In order to keep it running, it requires 4 AAA batteries. You can purchase the speaker in both red and black for $9.99 a piece through The Container Store.

If so, how many gadgets out there are musical enough for you, or are you one who wants to have something very different apart from the standard piano and drum kit? Enter the Stylophone Beatbox which opens up a whole new world of percussion goodness.

The Stylophone Beatbox boasts three different sound modes: Drum Kit, Beatbox and Bass Stylophone. There’s also a scratch function that allows you to mix your sounds, record them and play them over your beats. You can even adjust pitch and tempo. Think of it as a portable beatbox with added irony. But what about those sounds? Prepare to be impressed because this bonkers doodah contains samples created by champion human beatboxer MC Zani. No, we haven’t heard of him either but we’re told he’s da boom and da lick. Or something like that.

Not only do you get to irritate those around you who do not appreciate sounds coming out from a beatbox performer, you can do so for a relatively low, low price of £19.99.

Griffin Technology, the company who created the first iPhone controlled hardware with the iTrip, has also made another version of this device with the iTrip Auto. Designed for both the iPod and iPhone, it uses SmartScan technology to transmit your playlist to your car stereo.

All the user has to do is plug in the iTrip Auto to their Apple device with the Apple connector, then start their music. The other end of the cable gets plugged into the car’s cigarette lighter, which will power the transmitter.

From there, it is as simple as hitting the “SmartScan” button which has the ability to find out what is the best frequency to use for the user’s iPod/iPhone. The only thing left to do is manually dial in the frequency on the car’s FM radio, then bam! You’ve got music.

I tried this out and discovered it was way too easy to use. I did have to turn up the volume on my stereo way up in order to hear my Playlist, though. This gave me quite a surprise when I came back to my car, started the engine, and was blasted by the loud volume.

You can purchase the iTrip Auto FM Transmitter and Car Charger for iPod and iPhone right off the Griffin Technology site for $59.99 (iPod only version) or $69.99 (iPod and iPhone compatible version).

If you’re ever in the situation where you need your speakers to play to a full room of people, something with a 360° design like this one could make things easier. It’s not the most powerful speaker out there, but if you need to use it for a quick presentation, it would be handy. You could also use it for music when you need something extra to listen to with a group of friends.

The device uses a tumbler design that’s supposed to be based on cutting edge technology that was created for the USA Navy. It comes only in the black with the metallic accents and includes a USB cable. That cable is the source of the speaker’s power. The speaker is said to have “excellent sound and bass 360 omni-directional sound”. Then again, who actually says that their speaker has ok sound qaulity? You can purchase the speaker for the very affordable $24.79 through Amazon.

Sure, the iPod Shuffle was made for those who just want to play MP3s, and don’t want to have to deal with the price of more elegant models like the Touch. However, the Shuffles are pretty expensive in and of themselves compared to MP3 Players like the Creative Zen Stone and the Sansa Clip Plus.

I had a chance to try out the Sansa Clip Plus, and I have to admit, it was much easier to use than an iPod Shuffle. For starters, I didn’t have to deal with iTunes, which really eats up a lot of processing on my computer.

In fact, since the Clip Plus has a card slot, I could just put all my tunes on a microSDHC card and put it in to listen to my tunes. I could also get one of those slotRadio and slotMusic SD cards if I just wanted to hear some definite hits.

By the way, it also connects to my computer with a tiny USB cord for some drag and drop action. The tiny USB cord also serves as the way to charge it, and it has a battery life of 15 hours.

I realize that there was a lot of changes made to Apple devices on 09-09-09, but I don’t think the iPod Shuffle has that SD slot, neither does it have an FM tuner nor voice recorder. It does have the clip, though.

In short, I highly recommend ignoring the iPod Shuffle as a gift, and save some money by purchasing the Sansa Clip Plus. It is available in 2GB ($39.99), 4GB ($49.99), and 8GB ($69.99) versions in black, blue, and red.

There have been plenty of gadgets that have found new uses by having updated technology jammed inside of them. The gadgets come from all different time frames and this one is actually created from a device that was originally released in 1946. This Philco Dynamic Tester has found new life as an iPod speaker amp. Despite that it’s made out of a device that’s 63 years old, it looks even better than the newer gadgets released this year.

The cabinet is a 10 watt integrated solid-state amplifier, as well as a Blaukpunkt 5 1/4” coaxial loudspeaker with a ceramic magnet. It has an inset side panel has bass/treble controls, two 1/4” jack inputs, and left and right RCA inputs. The iPod dock plugs into the side panel to play your music and charge your iPod. The massive knob on the front is the one that controls the overall volume. The handle on the top was actually updated since the creator wasn’t all that fond of the original. You can check out more of the pictures by heading here. No such luck on getting a tutorial though.

Mention Bang & Olufsen in the same breath and chances are you would feel a lump form in your throat as you know full well that you aren’t able to afford purchasing anything from this brand, even if it is a souvenir item with its brand name emblazoned across it. Well, the same applies for Bang & Olufsen’s latest release, the BeoVision 7 which comes with a new 55″ screen size, upping the ante where its previous 40″ model left off in North America. Known as the BeoVision 7-55, this model will integrate the sophisticated Bang & Olufsen BeoSystem 3 video engine that offers superior signal processing courtesy of its VisionClear package of picture improvement technologies. Apart from that, Bang & Olufsen introduces yet another improvement with the double frame rate technology at 120Hz alongside motion compensation and progressive scanning backlight. All these technologies will work in tandem to reduce the inherent blur typical of LCD screens by a significant margin, offering crystal clear and sharp pictures even under intense scenes.

The LCD display that comes with the BeoVision 7-55 will be based on new direct-type LED-backlight with local dimming for greater contrast. You will also be able to enjoy state-of-the-art features for a smooth picture performance, coupled with a sophisticated digital surround sound module, and gives you the bragging rights of being one of the few flat screen TVs that are in the market at the moment which comes with a built-in Blu-ray player for all of your High Definition needs.

You can choose from natural aluminum, black, blue, dark grey and red colors. Available at all Bang & Olufsen retail locations from the middle of this month till late November onwards, the entire BeoVision 7-55 system will cost you a whopping $18,700 – of course, it will also come with a floor stand and center speaker just in case you were wondering just how far the dollar’s purchasing power is these days.

iBiquity Digital Corporation has rolled out a new accessory known as the Gigaware Navigation Control HD Radio Receiver for the iPod touch and iPhone, where it will be accompanied by the Gigaware HD Radio application which allows owners of either device to receive HD Radio FM broadcasts without missing a beat. Both the accessory and HD Radio application will combine to take advantage of the iPhone 3.0 operating system with its ability to support external accessories. With iPhone 3.0, application developers are able to make use of external hardware support, resulting in accessories such as the Gigaware Navigation Control HD Radio Receiver.

According to Bob Struble, President and CEO of iBiquity Digital, “Portable HD Radio is a great perk for iPhone and iPod touch users – and one that will certainly impact HD Radio broadcast entertainment to a massive user base that is constantly in motion. With iTunes Tagging, browser capabilities and interactive features, the HD Radio application creates a new level of relevance for radio. And since 65 percent of new music discovery occurs over broadcast radio, this is a natural marriage that’s a total win for iPhone and iPod touch users.”

To enjoy HD Radio Technology on your iPhone and iPod touch takes but a simple two-step process, where you obviously need to fork out $79.99 for the Gigaware Navigation Control HD Radio Receiver, followed by a download of the application for free on Apple’s App Store. As for the receiver, it is able to deliver HD2/HD3 channel reception, offering Program Service Date (PSD), boasts the ability to produce CD-like digital quality sound while offering users the freedom and choice to operate the Apple device remotely. Adding in an iTunes Tagging button on the navigation control lets one tag songs for future review before making a purchase decision on the App Store.

Normally, spy stuff made for the consumer looks pretty shabby compared to the technology in James Bond or Mission Impossible movies, but this one from our old friends at Brando looks quite decent.

The SPY Wireless Camera Pen + PMP comes in two parts, a transmitter and a receiver. The Transmitter is the pen itself, that transmits with 2.4 GHz. It has a rechargeable battery powered by USB and shoots 640 x 480 video with a lens that no one would ever see unless they looked really close. The lens is positioned perfectly for secret shooting in one’s breast pocket.

The receiver is essentially a PMP with a 3.5 inch screen. Not only can it pick up what the camera is seeing, but it is good for playing all kinds of formats, such as MP3, WMA, MP4, FLV, not to mention JPEGs and e-books. It has 2GB worth of memory built in to it, and expandable with the TF/Micro SD Card slot. It also has a TV out so you can see what you want on a bigger screen.

Not bad for a price of $159. You can get it right now if you head over to the Brando Site.
