iPhone 3G goes beyond $1,000 mark on eBay
July 22nd, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News, Mobile Phones
Just how hot do you think that the iPhone 3G has gotten? It seems that pent up demand for this smartphone has reflected in insane prices on eBay, with some of the bids already surpassing the magical $1,000 mark. Heck, even in the real world, demand for the iPhone 3G still results in lines forming outside of more notable Apple stores including the one in New York. So far, over 1 million units worldwide has already been sold, and demand remains extremely strong with both AT&T in the U.S. and O2 in the U.K. reporting iPhone 3G shortages. Currently, bids on eBay or the 16GB iPhone has passed the $1,0000 mark with even one bid ending at a ridiculous $2,325, while the smaller capacity 8GB iPhone 3G averages around $800 to $900. There’s a trick to all this - delayed gratification is the keyword, folks.

Undiscovered Apple TV keyboard
July 21st, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News
iPhone/iPod touch fans take note - there is a new dimension to the Remote application that seemed to have been overlooked by many. Apple themselves have done virtually nothing to promote such a feature either, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t useful or interesting to look at. The iPhone or iPod touch will be able to be used as a keyboard in lieu of the hard-to-use on-screen non-QWERTY keyboard as your Apple TV keyboard. Best of all is, the typing is reflected on the TV screen itself so that you know exactly where you’ve gone wrong with a wayward finger or thumb.

No free Wi-Fi access for AT&T iPhone users after all
July 20th, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News, Mobile Phones
Man, I’d be pissed if I were an AT&T iPhone user, and I’m pretty sure you would be too, after reading all about your mobile carrier offering free Wi-Fi access to the precious iPhone, only to retract that statement shortly thereafter. I don’t mean to place the importance of having free Wi-Fi access alongside more important things in life, but to have a company offer the hope of such convenience only to pull back its statement a while later can be quite a killjoy. Worse still is the fact that this is not the first time as it has happened before, which pretty much reminds me of Aesop’s Fables and the boy who cried wolf. While any publicity (good or otherwise) is supposed to be good, one such as this leaving no goodwill whatsoever will be viewed with disdain by the majority.
Big Canvas for the iPhone
July 12th, 2008 by Edwin in Apple NewsSo the iPhone 3G has been making big news worldwide a good 24 hours ago, and one of the more interesting aspects would be the Apple App Store which enables users to purchase media or applications of their choice directly from the iPhone 3G. There are tons of applications and software available, and among them is Big Canvas PhotoShare. iPhone users will be able to seamlessly share, store and manage images taken on their device using PhotoShare. These images can then be uploaded live a few seconds after capturing them, with the option to throw in captions for a more memorable imag.e Sounds like the perfect tool for the socialite. More about the Big Canvas application right after the jump.

TripAdvisor for iPhone users
July 11th, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News, Software
While iPhone users might be a cut above the rest of the tech community due to their ability to fork out insane amounts of dough at the initial release (remember last June’s iPhone that went for $599?), they certainly are human as we are, requiring sustenance to keep on going. Being hungry is a universal feeling that everyone experiences at some point in time, but iPhone users have the advantage of sniffing down some of the best eats in town thanks to the TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor has recently announced a version of its Local Picks restaurant finder at Apple’s recently opened App Store, and it will be available for free. The Local Picks application will take advantage of the iPhone’s location-based capabilities so that folks can track down the best restaurants rated by locals, enabling one to throw a so-called (biased) “guidebook” out of the window.
