Are all earphones created equal? Not really, as Pioneer’s Rayz happens to lay claim to being the very first smart lighting earphones that will boast of talk as well as charge functions for the iPhone, iPad, as well as iPod touch. The Rayz and Rayz Plus earphones is a whole new collection of “appcessories”, which is a whole new take on the word “accessories”. Bringing the intelligence of an iOS app alongside innovative Lightning accessories, these are able to deliver whole new experiences which was not possible via the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The whole point of the Rayz and Rayz Plus is to make use of Apple’s Lightning audio technology so that it can not only simply, but also to smartly solve the top challenges which today’s mobile consumers experience every single day. The Rayz earphones are able to maximize all of the benefits which are offered by the Lightning Connector, where they are powered by iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. This means there is no more need to have these earphones pack an additional battery.

Not only that, the Rayz Plus model will also be the first and only Lightning headset that sports a sleek in-line charging node which can simultaneously charge the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as long as the earphones remain connected and in use.

These earphones take advantage of Avnera’s breakthrough LightX platform which will allow the earphones to operate in modes that make use of the lowest amount of power possible from iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Each of these models will carry half a dozen microphones that allow Smart Noise Cancellation, exceptional noise cancellation capability thanks to a HearThruä mode, and embedded microphones which can implement sensor-less on-ear detection.

The Rayz earphones will arrive in Onyx and Ice and Rayz Plus, as they are available in Graphite and Bronze metallic finishes for $149.95 and $99.95 for the Rayz Plus and Rayz, respectively.

The iPhone Lumee Case makes perfect selfies, every time Fri, 18 Mar 2016 19:30:13 +0000 Lumee Light Phone case

Your phone has a wonderful little light on the back that is perfect for illuminating group pictures or guiding you around at night. However, when you want to take a selfie, there’s not a light on the front, and the forward-facing camera is usually not as great of quality as the one on the back. That being said, having less light and not as great a camera means you’re going to get pictures that aren’t what you’d want them to be.

If you want perfect photos every time, then you’re going to need extra help in the light department. The Lumee Phone Case can help you get the results you want, as it provides you with a bright light that will fill in all the shadows on your face. It thankfully comes with a variable dimmer, which you can change to fit your surroundings by holding down the on/off button.

This light is powered by a lithium-ion battery inside the durable plastic case which can keep lighting up your face for up to 36 hours on the lowest setting. This could also be used as a flashlight if for some reason the light on the back of your phone isn’t enough. Since this was designed by a photographer for the sole purpose of taking amazing pictures, this is going to cost you a whopping $49.95. There are options for black, white, and rose colored cases, and you can get different models at various prices for different types of phones aside from the 5 or 5S.

The Skull Charger – get into the spirit for the month of Halloween Thu, 01 Oct 2015 21:36:38 +0000 Skull Charger

Do you love Halloween more than Thanksgiving and Christmas combined? Every year we hit October and the Halloween decorations begin. We basically have to start the fun at the beginning of the month since as soon as Halloween is over it’s Christmas time since no one cares about Thanksgiving unless they’re eating turkey. People start putting up Christmas lights and keep them there well into the winter for aesthetics, but why fight it when you can join in with your own fun?

If you secretly enjoy holiday lights but want it in a spoopy theme, then this Skull Charger will be a must-have. This is a 46” long charging cable that is riddled with red skulls that light up while your phone is powering up. It is a lightning connector, so it will only work with iPhone 5+, iPad 4+, iPod Touch, etc. Basically, if you’re not a current Apple fan, you’re out of luck.

This has 8 LEDs in red skulls, which means it should keep lighting up for years to come so long as you don’t needlessly leave this plugged in at all hours of the day. This is only going to cost you $14.99, and will let anyone near you know that you have holiday spirit. Whether or not they pay attention to the fact that it’s for Halloween or not will be based on how far into your personal space bubble they’re willing to tread.

The Sony Smartband 2 – another day, another activity tracker Thu, 27 Aug 2015 20:30:32 +0000 Sony Smart Band 2

Did you know that activity trackers are the hot new thing? No? Surely you’ve heard of smart watches though. They’re close to the same thing, and are often tied into one device. If you wait long enough, every technology related company in the world will have its very own activity tracker, and will improve them over time as competition from other companies up the bar.

We’ve seen the Razer Nabu, Withings, Fitbit, Leapband, Fineck, and many, many more. One of the many out there that we haven’t seen though, is the Sony Smartband 2. I’m assuming we haven’t heard much about the Smartband 1 for reasons stated above. This can track your heart rate, movements, sleep, and how excited or calm you are. It measures your pulse and stress levels, so it can help you figure out when you need to have a free day, if you can afford to take one of those things.

There is an app called Lifelog that will let you look over all of your data from weeks, months, and years prior. This will vibrate and light up colored LEDs whenever you get a call or message. Made of silicone, it is designed to be comfortable to wear at all times, and there are colored straps so you can accessorize with your wardrobe accordingly. The battery can last for up to five days without needing a recharge, and it is IP68 waterproof. While this isn’t available just yet, don’t be surprised if it’s priced at or over $100. If it’s below the 100 point, it may be worth the money, though if you’re going to go all out, you may as well get a Sony smart watch instead.

The H2O Vibe Showerhead Speaker – clean up, jam out Fri, 29 May 2015 19:30:22 +0000 H2O Vibe

There are two types of people who take showers. Some like to take the time to think about the coming day and all they’ll need to do, and others rock out to tunes, singing loudly enough for their neighbors to hear. Most of the time we just rely on our smartphones as a speaker, but it’s always on the other side of the shower curtain, and sounds muffled.

If you want a shower speaker that isn’t going to break or short out on you after a few uses, then this H2O Vibe Showerhead with a wireless Bluetooth speaker might do the trick. It has a very wide head at which the center of is the wireless speaker which is detachable. It can not only play audio, but also also will allow you to take calls, which certainly won’t lead to any awkward situations.

Since you’re only replacing the showerhead, there’s no fancy installation to worry about, and it will only take a few minutes to put on. The speaker has a battery life of 8 hours, though you hopefully won’t be sitting in the bath or a shower for that long. It does need to be charged, but if you’re only using it in the bathroom, then it should last for a week or so. This is currently insanely cheap from its list price of $179.99, as it is currently available for $42 (for Prime peeps).

The Onyx is the closest we’ve got to a Star Trek communicator badge Tue, 11 Nov 2014 20:46:13 +0000 OnBeep Onyx

We all have different groups of friends that we like to keep in contact with. Most of the time we use messenger apps or texting to stay in the loop with each other, but we don’t always have the chance to pull out our phone, open an app, and type out a message. If you prefer voice messages, but don’t want to call your friends for every little thing, why not get a communicator like the ones we’ve seen in Star Trek?

If you think they don’t exist, you’d be very wrong. The Onyx from OnBeep gives you instant group communication from anywhere you have Wifi or cellular access. Yes, it is tied to your phone and you do have to pair it with an app, but it is a brilliant idea. While this does resemble the concept of a walkie talkie, it basically removes the limited range aspect. You can be anywhere in the world, and would only have to hit a button to receive instant access to all of your friends.

This is compatible with Android 4.1 and above, the iPod touch, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and the iPhone 6 Plus, running iOS 7 or above. It runs off of a lithium polymer battery which recharges via microUSB, giving you twelve hours of standby time, and should last through a normal day of use. There is a headphone jack, so you don’t have to worry about your conversation being broadcast to the world. One of these will cost you $99, or you can pay $195 and get a pair for you and a friend.

Available for pre-order on OnBeep

The Tangle Free iPhone 5 Charger dispenses with headaches Tue, 19 Aug 2014 12:00:10 +0000 tangle-free-iphone5-chargerIf there is one main reason that I simply cannot wait for wireless charging capability to hit the market in a big way, it would be this – that day would signal the end of having your chargers end up in a tangled mess. Well, with the $39.95 Tangle Free iPhone 5 Charger, you might not have the advantage of a wireless charger work in your favor in such a manner, but at the very least, it also solves the “tangled cable” issue somewhat. The Tangle Free iPhone 5 Charger sports a retractable cable which would allow you to charge an iPhone 5 without having the unsightly tangle of typical cords.

The cable itself is wound on a spring-tension spool, and it comes with a Lightning connector on one side while there is a USB plug on the other. All that you, the user, will need to do, is to pull on each end simultaneously in order to extend the cable to any length, all the way up to its full 39″ maximum. All that is required for the cable to be retracted back to its safety cocoon would be a second tug, and a smooth retracting action will commence The prongs of the included 2.4 amp AC/USB adapter will fold down for compact storage, which makes this ideal to bring around with you if you are rocking to one of the following – an iPhone 5/5s/5c, fourth generation iPad, iPad mini, and fifth generation iPod touch.
