128k Macintosh prototype spotted?
Old is gold, or so the saying goes. Well, if that is the case, then surely what looks to be a 128k Macintosh prototype that appeared in the wild will certainly appeal to collectors of all things vintage. This unique prototype is very rare, considering how not many people keep old school electronics up and running for a few decades. Boasting a 5.25” “Twiggy” floppy disk mechanism, this is in line with the what Apple used in the first generation Lisa workstation.
According to user “mactwiggy” who put up several photos of this particularly rare find (no idea on where he spotted it though), what makes this prototype all the more unique is this – production Mac models relied on 3.5” 400k floppy disk drives, which is a format that Apple by and large was responsible for introducing to the masses.

Apple announces iBooks 2 for iPad
Apple wants to change the way we look at the education system, by announcing iBooks 2 for the iPad. What does iBooks 2 bring to the table? For starters, it will obviously feature iBooks textbooks, which is a totally new kind of textbook that intends to make learning far more dynamic, engaging and truly interactive. With the iPad’s display, iBooks textbooks are said to offer students gorgeous, fullscreen textbooks complete with interactive animations, diagrams, photos, videos, and unrivaled navigation among others.
Not only that, you need not worry about your textbook being out of date, since this is digital content that we are talking about, iBooks will ensure that its collection of textbooks will remain up to date at all times, and even better is the fact that you need not lug around a really heavy backpack unlike your now-graduated seniors have experienced. Apple has a penchant for wanting the best always, and this has caused them to team up with leading education services companies such as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, McGraw-Hill and Pearson in order to bring educational titles on the iBookstore.

Velocomp presents the iBike Workout
We have written about a lot of bike related things for the iDevice like the Wahoo Fitness Bike Pack. Velocomp, a sports tech company that has created of the iBike Dash cycling computer, has recently unveiled the iBike Workout.
The iBike Workout is a simple dongle designed to fit in the 32-pin connector for the iPad, and it is quite simple to download the iBike application. This allows the iPad to be used for indoor cycling training with ANT + sensors.

iPhone 4/4S Magnate Case from AGF
AGF has made some interesting cases for mobile devices, such as the Precision HSD Case for iPhone 3G and 3G S. This Magnate case for the iPhone 4/4S is another great triumph for the company.
The Magnate is an affordable way an iPhone 4 user can whip out their iDevice and say, without words, “I have class”. Yes, the thing has leather, but it is leather inlayed, highlighted with “contrasting stitching”. Granted, it is not genuine leather like the seats of a fine car, but I’ve seen vinyl that looks good enough.
It actually uses a durable yet flexible rubber like materials also known as TPU (Thermoplastic Polyutherane). The sides are ribbed, so you will have a good grip on your iPhone 4.

SofShell for the iPad 2 from Sofproducts
I have reviewed a lot of covers made for the back of the iPad like Bracketron’s Back-iT and the AViiQ Smart Case, and this SofShell by Sofproducts falls under that product category.
As its name implies, the SofShell goes for a soft rubber feel rather than a hard plastic or metal shell. It also has a unique ability of being transparent. You would be able to completely see through it if not for the interior case texture that keeps it on and makes it easy to peel off.
It “fits like a glove” and is able to reduce shock by 43 percent. Sofproducts also states that their product is “anti-slip”, which means that you could rest an iPad 2 with a SofShell backing on an angle that is 70 degrees, and it would not slide off.

The IRIS 9000 lets you talk to Siri like HAL
I am sure that by now you have heard about Siri, a feature on the iPhone 4S. I haven’t had a chance to try it out, but I believe that you should be able to ask Siri a question, and you’ll get an answer.
Yes, the age of conversing with computers has finally come. It was shown to us in films like 2001: A Space Odyssey with the HAL 9000, and is now a reality. Granted, it is the year 2011, but ten years late is better than never.
If you go to ThinkGeek right now, you can check out the IRIS 9000, which allows you to use Siri from a distance. (Iris is Siri spelled backwards.) You can use the IRIS 9000 as a standard spearkerphone to make and receive calls, and an included micro remote triggers Siri with the press of a button.
