iSH2 from H2O Audio

May 7th, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News, Sport, Audio/Video Gadgets

H2O Audio has just announced that its new Natalie Coughlin Signature Series: iSH2 product is now available for sale exclusively at Apple Stores from this month onwards. Guess folks who have been hankering after an integrated waterproof headset can finally lay their hands on the iSH2 which was specially developed to work with the Apple iPod Shuffle Gen 2 and 3. Of course, it goes without saying that if you purchase this, it is also compulsory to have some sort of waterproof casing for your iPod Shuffle in the first place as water and electronics do not play nice with each other. Interestingly enough, the product was conceived by H2O Audio and developed with the assistance of world record holder and Olympic multi-medalist swimmer, Natalie Coughlin to turn the fatigue of lap and distance swim training into a music-energized experience.

Get your movies from iTunes the same day as the DVD release

May 2nd, 2008 by Chris in Apple News, Home Theater, Tech News

iTunes

Earlier this year the epic battle for the next-gen disc technology was finally ended with Blu-ray becoming the victor. However, I’m still not convinced that a new disc technology is what the industry really needs. With high-speed internet more widely available than ever before and hard drive sizes reaching over 1TB, it only seems logical that we’ll turn to digital distribution with movies, just as we’ve done with music. Once again, Apple is making strides that will no doubt help us along that path.

Apple iTunes offer films on same day DVD release

May 2nd, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News, Software, Audio/Video Gadgets

itunes-sameday-dvd.jpg

Say what you like about Blu-ray emerging as the victor in next-gen high definition wars, but DVD is still here to stay - at least for a few more years to come. With the credit crunch affecting virtually everyone from top to bottom (even more so in the latter category), not everyone has the disposable income to splurge on a spanking new HDTV. This means DVDs could remain in the market for a few more years longer than expected before HD content takes over. Apple is going to seize the opportunity to release films on their iTunes Store on the same day where said films are released on the DVD format in brick-and-mortar stores after coming to an agreement with a number of major motion picture studios including 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lionsgate, Image Entertainment, and First Look Studios.

DisplayLink releases OSX driver

April 1st, 2008 by Chris in Apple News, USB Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

DisplayLink Mac

I’ve been a huge fan of MacOS for a very long time, even if I do spend most of my time on a Windows machine these days. That’s why I always hate seeing Mac users get the short end of the stick. Well I’m happy to report that the guys at DisplayLink have been working hard and have delivered a MacOS version of their USB video driver.

iPhone Patent

According to patent applicaitons with Uncle Sam, Apple may be toying with a clamshell iPhone design that marries the multi touch screen interface with flip phone carrying convenience. The patent is for what is described as a “dual sided trackpad,” which is kinda a hand held dual screen Nintendo DS for adults. But that’s not all.

Apple updates AirPort Express Base Station

March 18th, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News, PC Gadgets

airport-n.jpgApple has breathed new life into its AirPort Express Base Station, where it looks exactly the same like the original despite cramming in an all important upgrade - support for 802.11n networking compared to the slower 802.11g standard found in the original. In addition to that modification, a few minor tweaks have been introduced as well. First of all, let us see what has remained the same - the 10/100Base-T Ethernet port, a USB port that comes in handy for hooking up a remote printer, and an audio-output jack that supports both digital and analog audio. A power outlet from a wall is used to keep the AirPort Express going. Let us check out the benefits after the jump.
