Victorian Futurist’s Electric Cycle offers something different to get about

victorian-futurist-cycleNot all bicycles are created equal, as some other models tend to be more attractive than the rest. Well, when it comes to getting around in style, you can either own a flashy sports car, or you could perhaps take a slightly different route this time around — with the $12,000 Victorian Futurist’s Electric Cycle. Yes sir, the name alone is quite a mouthful to swallow or pronounce, but the sheer physical presence of the Victorian Futurist’s Electric Cycle is certainly food for thought.

This might not be your conventional bicycle as it is more of a tricycle, and good thing you do not need to power it through pedaling. Rather, this is an electric-powered ride that is made in England, and it will certainly bring about memories of the spaceflight-inspired fantasy of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne with a rocket-shaped nose cone which will make up its passenger section. This will be a Hammacher Schlemmer exclusive, where it runs on a 36-volt rechargeable battery that will power the tricycle’s 500-watt electric motor. Of course, it comes with assisted pedaling apart from a seven-speed dérailleur that will pave the way for purely human-powered operation.

It is not going to be a burden on your legs if you are going to cycle in this bad boy, since it comes with a lightweight aluminum girder chassis frame which can support up to 540 lbs. This particular tricycle ensconces passengers in the following configurations: four children or one adult, with the front compartment’s pair of Italian leather-upholstered reclining, removable, and safety harness-equipped bench seats. In the interior of the forward nose cone, there should be ample storage space to stash an entire day’s worth of picnic munchies or helmets. You will also not fret about letting it get away since you can stop confidently thanks to the Tektro front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. There are button controls for the throttle, horn, hi/low-beam headlight, and turn indicators, while a piece of the future appears in the form of an LCD display that points to speed, distance travelled, gear, and current battery level.
