These Edible Spoons help the environment by giving you a utensil you can eat
Have you ever noticed how much stuff you throw away in a week? It’s a pretty massive bummer when you think about how much could be recycled but isn’t, and how many tons of trash are stuffed in a landfill somewhere, never to break down properly because it’s so far down that air can’t reach or is in a bag. While you can do all sorts of things to lessen your impact, one of the biggest issues we have is how much plastic we use.
By this point there are tons of documentaries and photo journals of the effects of plastic in the world. When we’re in a hurry and need lunch, we normally get something that is cased in plastic, with a plastic eating utensil wrapped in more plastic. While we’re not likely to cut out all the plastic, these Edible Spoons will help us lessen the amount we use. Made of sorghum, rice, and wheat flour it’s less than 10ppm in gluten, as well as being moisture and fat free.
These spoons can last on a shelf for up to 36 months, but once you open the package you’ve got about 3-5 days before they decompose. There are different flavored spoons of sugar, ginger-cinnamon, ginger-garlic, cumin, celery, black pepper, mint-ginger, and carrot-beetroot. Paying only $10 will get you 100 edible spoons in whatever flavor you’d like. Chopstick and fork versions are in the works, and will likely be available at a later date.
