Nikon DL Premium Compact Series ensures the humble digital camera has some legs left

The normal digital camera can be said to have been phased out – simply because point-and-shoot devices are no longer in vogue, not to mention that most of us rely on our smartphone cameras these days to get the job done as opposed to a chunky DSLR. After all, the technology in smartphone cameras have advanced to such an extent that they snap some pretty great looking shots – good enough to be on billboards, too. Nikon, however, feels that the point-and-shoot camera market has some legs left, which is why they have revealed their new range of DL premium compact series.

Bringing pocketable power and legendary NIKKOR lens precision into the hands of passionate photographers, Nikon has paired a generous 1” sensor with superior NIKKOR lens technology. The new shooters from Nikon would be the compact DL24-85, DL18-50 and DL24-500, where they not only claim to capture stunning images, but also that of 4K UHD video to boot, now how about that?

The cameras in the new DL line will also boast of powerful performance, where there is high-speed Autofocus (AF) and 20 frames-per-second (60 fps with fixed AF) continuous shooting capability for fast action moments, 4K UHD video recording for users to tell their stories in new and clearer ways. In order to make sure that you are comfortable shooting with it throughout the whole day, they have been ergonomically designed and are familiar for advanced users, with the trio making use of the new Nikon SnapBridge connectivity to make it easier than ever to shoot and share with ease.

There is a 20.8-megapixel CX-format (1-inch) BSI CMOS sensor located underneath the hood, and when it merges that with fast, high quality NIKKOR glass, it will be able to deliver stunning image quality for stills or 4K UHD video. The spanking new EXPEED 6A image processor allows impressive noise reduction and powerful, fast performance, which makes stunning low-light street photography a possibility, in addition to beautiful portraits or spectacular landscapes.

The new Nikon DL24-85, DL18-50 and DL24-500 will be available in some time early this summer at recommended retail prices of $649.95, $849.95, and $999.95, respectively.
