Solar Paper is an interesting idea worth exploring
The modern day road warrior would be one who carries a fair number of electronic devices – the smartphone is no doubt a staple, but more often than not, a tablet would also follow behind quietly. Others might want to carry around a dedicated GPS navigation device (although that is becoming more and more rare), or perhaps some sort of fitness tracking device, or even wear a smartwatch. The whole point is, despite all of the convergence that is going on in the realm of consumer tech, there are still many different kinds of devices hanging around, and all of them need to run on juice. What happens when you are in the middle of nowhere, and desperately need the function of one of those aforementioned devices to work? Enter hhis unique idea known as the Solar Paper, where it comes across as an eco-friendly, ultra-thin solar panel.
Being a Kickstarter project, the Solar Paper will rely on the goodwill and faith of backers who decide to drop in their fair share of money. Needless to say, should the Solar Paper project be successful by collecting the amount of funds required, it will then be shipped to those who have made an early investment. Basically, the Solar Paper comes across as a product that was specially designed to accumulate electricity through a solar panel. From there, it will be able to deliver power to various devices, including smartphones.
Thanks to YOLK’s super-efficient solar panel production technology, the Solar Paper is able to churn out 5W of juice, which happens to be the highest power output when compared to similar products that are on the market at the moment. It will comprise of a pair of solar panels, where each panel is able to churn out 2.5W. The Solar Paper’s volume is also extremely portable – 9cm x 17cm x 1.5cm, where it will tip the scales at 60 grams, meaning you can carry this with you just about everywhere.
It can juice up an iPhone 6 in about 2.5 hours on a sunny day, and when the clouds come out to play, it might require another extra half hour.
